SXSW attendees spent the last day of the festival trying to stay dry. Fortunately, the Gypsy Lounge erected a giant tent to keep the crowd dry. The rain forced the staff running Converse/Thrasher’s Death Match to shut down the skate ramp.

Southern Lord Recordings and Om have set October 2, 2007 as the official release date for their 3rd (first on Southern Lord) full-length album. This album is entitled: “Pilgrimage” and was recorded at Electrical Audio in Chicago, IL. by Steve Albini. The album is currently being mastered by Bob Weston (also in Shellac) at Chicago Mastering Services. “Pilgrimage” expands on their unique use of riff, cadence…chant, as heard on previous recordings yet finds the band expanding their vision into new territories. Of particular note is how much the song-writing has developed and in turn makes the dynamics of the songs much more intensely powerful.
The track listing for “Pilgrimage” is as follows:
2. Unitive Knowledge of the Godhead
3. Bhimas Theme
4. Pilgrimage (reprise)
A gatefold LP version of the album will also be released sometime shortly after the CD release.

Southern Lord Records has announced the signing of San Francisco's OM. OM was formed in 2003 by Al Cisneros (bass/vocals) and Chris Hakius (drums), both founding members of legendary doom pioneers Sleep. The band has released two previous albums with Holy Mountain Records: "Variations on a Theme" (2004), and "Conference of the Birds" (2006). OM will fit perfectly among other bands on the Southern Lord roster (Sunn 0))), Earth, Boris) who are continually pushing boundaries, and forging ahead in new directions. OM are helping reinvent AND reinforce modern heavy music.
Their first album for Southern Lord will be recorded this summer at Electrical Audio studios with Steve Albini at the controls. Album title and release date will be forthcoming.
