Los Angeles' THE FUNERAL PYRE has returned from the East Coast from the ninth annual New England Metal and Hardcore Festival. "It was an awesome time and a great experience for us, thanks to Scott Lee for hooking it up and everyone involved," THE FUNERAL PYRE's frontman said. Pictures from the band's performance this weekend can be seen here.
Currently gearing up for a few local shows, including a Hollywood appearance with Horse The Band, THE FUNERAL PYRE is also hard at work booking a three-week summer tour across the US with As Eden Burns and looking for help booking shows, via the newly-started Prosthetic Booking. Los Angeles' THE FUNERAL PYRE will depart on a two week West Coast tour with Creator Destructor labelmates Cerberus. Now supporting the re-release of the band's second full-length, The Nature of Betrayal, through a distribution deal with Prosthetic Records, the tour marks THE FUNERAL PYRE's return to the road after the band's jaunt with Apiary and Dryline in November and December of 2006 and a handful of southern California appearances since then. The band will also make an appearance at the first day of California Metalfest, having played the inaugural California Metalfest last year as well, and THE FUNERAL PYRE will make its New England Metal and Hardcore Festival debut in April, playing the Fest's first date.
Grabbing influence from At The Gates, Shai Hulud, Dissection and Emperor, THE FUNERAL PYRE has been a staple in the underground Los Angeles music scene since its formation in 2000 and self-releasing several demos, a split 7 inch, and a self-financed full-length debut prior to The Nature of Betrayal.

Prosthetic Records will re-release the latest full-length from Los Angeles' THE FUNERAL PYRE in a licensing deal for worldwide re-release March 20, 2007 through a deal with Bay Area indie label Creator-Destructor Records. Originally released last year through Bay Area label Creator-Destructor Records, the band has been garnering praise through non-stop touring. Channeling melodic death metal and Norwegian black metal alike, THE FUNERAL PYRE takes on the two legendary genres in what has to be billed as a welcome addition to LA’s crowded extreme music scene. Locking in over 100 shows throughout 2006 alone in support of the band’s second full-length, the band cites At The Gates, Shai Hulud, Dissection and Emperor as influences on the band's MySpace page. Having recently returning from a five week tour through November and December, THE FUNERAL PYRE will return to the road in March, but not before playing shows in Southern California on their own.
