Mumakil Splits With Drummer

Mumakil has checked in with the following announcement about parting ways with the band's drummer:

"OK, time to give some news! First of all: unfortunately Kevin Foley left the band, due to another engagement. Kevin was already a long-time friend when we asked him to take over for Seb. Let's just say that he's a true friend, an awesome and really professional drummer; we'll never forget him! We wish him all the best for the future!

"We're glad to announce that we have found one terrific new drummer. His name is Max! This guy's exactly what Mumakil's been looking for. A really fast technician with a clearer punk touch in his play.

"We'll do our first show with him on December 12 2013 @L'ilôt 13 in Geneva, along with BRUTAL TRUTH! Be there!

"In addition, we'd like to announce in advance the special show we're preparing for Mumakil's 10th Anniversary, which will of course take place in our hometown of Geneva @ L'Usine on March 29 2014, along with our buddies from:

- ROTTEN SOUND (TBC)
- BLOCKHEADS
- INGROWING
- FEASTEM
- KESS'KHTAK
- and more... More...

Mumakil Releases "Death From Below" Video

Today an official new video from Mumakil has been unleashed just in time to get you fired up for the weekend. Check it out in the player below. Relapse Records also comments on the clip:

"The 'Death From Below' video matches the immaculately captured yet crushing audio direct from the album to brutal live footage of the band performing the album’s whirlwind opening track, filmed by Schlep at L'Usine located in the band’s hometown of Geneva, Switzerland, with a legion of the town’s finest grindfreaks going berserk in the pit.

"Produced by the band at Terrier 5 Studio in Geneva, and the first Mumakil album to be released in four years, Flies Will Starve will hit the streets June 25th in North America, preceded by its release June 21st in Germany/Benelux/Finland and June 24th in the UK and abroad. The album devastates the listener with twenty-four tracks of precision grindcore teetering on the edge of insanity in the vein of Birdflesh, Misery Index, Antigama and Kill The Client. The oppressive percussion only lets up to build-up to the next blinding blast, the strings jackhammering forth the band’s most death-influenced riffing yet and of course the razorchoked vocal bloodbath is nothing short of nauseatingly awesome."

You can also watch the previously posted lyric video for "Wrong Turn" over at this location. More...

Mumakil Finishes Recording New Album

Switzerland’s maniacal grindcore death outfit Mumakil has completed the recording for a new LP, now bearing the confirmed title "Flies Will Starve," and set for release later in the year via Relapse Records. The following press release was issued about the album:

"Self-recorded at Terrier 5 Studio in Geneva, the Mumakil faction’s first album in four years will devastate grinders worldwide with twenty-four brand new tracks of wicked, precision grindcore with even more death metal persuasion than their previous full-length, Behold The Failure. Fans of Birdflesh, Misery Index, Antigama, Kill The Client and the like, get ready!"

Stated the band, upon entering the studio in September: “This will be our best album in terms of production, riff quality, variation and songwriting. It is going to be a great mix between everything we love in grindcore and death-metal with subjects like war, anger, pain, personal experiences and deceptions, and an overall theme about mankind's permanent will to destroy itself.”

Following an arsenal of releases since the band’s 2004 foundation, "Flies Will Starve" will be Mumakil’s third full-length and second for Relapse, not including a split with Inhume on the label’s cult Slimewave 7” series. The album’s street date and other new info will be made available in the coming weeks, including tours of Europe, Canada, and beyond in support of the album.

In the meantime, Europe is already doomed for a blastbeating this March, as Mumakil will rampage across the continent alongside Swedish grind allies Afgrund for over three weeks. Dates are as follows: More...

Mumakil Begins Work On New Album

Switzerland’s MUMAKIL recently entered the studio to begin work on their Relapse debut.

The follow-up to MUMAKIL’s debut full-length, "Customized Warfare," is being recorded in the band’s hometown of Geneva. MUMAKIL drummer Sebastien Schacher recently checked-in from the studio with an update: “We have finished with the drum, bass, and guitar tracks and will begin with vocals next. This new album will be even more brutal, faster, and 'punkier' than our first CD Customized Warfare. There will be less 'groovy-brutal-death' parts but more dark and crusty riffs supported by fast blast-beat attacks. We rather chose to propose the punk and brutal side of our music. The album we be titled 'Behold the Failure' and it will be a kind of an anthem to our great world in perdition.“

MUMAKIL has written roughly 26 new tracks for "Behold The Failure." Advance song titles include “Doomed”, “Brothers In Slavery”, “Black Sheep”, “Wish You The Worst”, “Mass Murder Institution”, and “Pigs On Fire”. "Behold The Failure" will see a Spring 2009 release date.
