Irish act For Ruin has checked in with the following update about recent and upcoming activity:
"This week has been dogged by shitty weather in this part of the world and it took our drummer Pete three attempts/cancellations to fly to Ireland from Europe to rehearse and play this week - but hopefully the bad luck is over now... We have 3 new songs more or less complete and will most likely be performing a brand new track 'Mere Mortals' for the 1st time anywhere this coming Friday at the Cork show if all goes well.
"Our plans for the early part of 2011 so far are pretty well laid out. We will be making an announcement regarding Last Light in the very near future (good news!); we'd hoped to be in the position to announce something this week but a few things have delayed us so, again, watch this space!
"We have some ideas for the new songs that will hopefully come to fruition, as well as a few surprises if all goes well. The new material so far is a continuation of the Last Light style with some variety in terms of pace in one of the songs (probably the final song on the next album) and the speed and heaviness that featured throughout Last Light will be maintained in all others. Last Light featured a couple of 'older' songs but everything on the next record will be brand new, nothing re-visited from older times. More...

Ireland's For Ruin has checked in with the following update about the band's upcoming activity:
"Thanks to all who came out early enough to see us open the Bolt Thrower/Rotting Christ show last weekend at the Button Factory in Dublin - amazing to see a full room when you're the first band on and the response was amazing. Thanks to all of you who supported us by picking up CD's and shirts - its hugely appreciated and you are supporting the band's future directly, nobody else! We've added a couple of photos from the show, more will follow in due course.
"The summer will be relatively quiet for us - we are working on 3 Irish shows for September (TBC) and we are writing new music. We hope to get to the UK/Europe later in the year but the cancelled UK dates last month cost us and it will take some time before we are reday to go again."
Ireland's For Ruin has issued the following update about canceling the band's previously announced U.K. tour dates with Belphegor:
"We are extremely sorry to say that we could not risk traveling to the UK today for our 4 originally scheduled shows with Belphegor. These shows were, it seems, far from being a priority for the booking agent and the Peterborough show was the first to be canceled. Last night we packed the gear and were at rehearsals only to get word that Leeds had been pulled leaving the Thurs (Camden) and Sunday (Plymouth) shows remaining, 4 days apart. The advice to us was that these are unlikely to go ahead and so much traveling would not be justified for such a short set in Camden so we decided to to travel and take the hit on what we had already invested in traveling to these shows.
"Its no understatement to say that we are very disappointed that we couldn't play these shows - a lot of work had to be done to get them arranged and to have everyone available to play them. But these things happen all the time and there's not much we can do about it. Playing other shows in the UK before the end of year will be difficult due to scheduling but we'll try to swing something. There was a lot of people coming to see the shows, review the shows, conduct interviews etc. and all that stuff - apologies to you."
Ireland's For Ruin have announced they will be supporting Belphegor on four upcoming U.K. tour dates. The currently confirmed dates are as follows:
4/8 2010 Camden Underworld London, London and South East
4/9 2010 The Met Lounge Peterborough
4/10 2010 Rios, Leeds Leeds
4/11 2010 The White Rabbit Plymouth

FOR RUIN has formally existed since late 2003. Based in Cork, Ireland, founding member John began playing a mixture of melodic black/death metal with strong harmonies, melodies and dynamics throughout. During 1998-2004, John wrote and demoed a number of tracks which finally found their way onto the split MEICHE/FOR RUIN demo.
FOR RUIN completed its second demo, "Shade", during winter 2005. In November 2005, Murphy was joined by three talented and energetic musicians and having completed an Irish tour with MAEL MORDHA in early February, 2006 as well as a number of other gigs, an appearance at the 2006 Day of Darkness festival was confirmed. A support slot with DECAPITATED followed.
