Philadelphia metal band, Left To Vanish, has issued the following update regarding their vocalist situation:
"This is a long overdue announcement! As some of you may or may not know, Keith Nolan left the band a couple months ago due to personal issues and to this day we are still very good friends. Keith has been a part of this band for almost 6 years! We thank him for his neverending support and dedication. We experimented with fill-ins after his departure until we found the right guy for the job. If you seen us on the Salt The Wound/Woe Of Tyrants Tour and/or NEMF 2009 you have seen our new vocalist John Walls. He has been a close friend of the band for years and has everything we've been looking for in a vocalist." More...
The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival will introduce an additional stage this year dedicated to up and coming bands.
The third stage, sponsored by Deathcote Records, will be located at Chasers Nightclub, located behind the Palladium on the corner of Martin Luther King and Commercial streets. The main festival will be taking place at the Palladium.
“There are so many great bands and not enough time to get all of them on during the course of two days,” said festival co-organizer Sott Lee. “Adding a third stage is a great way for us to showcase some of the developing bands and it’s a terrific opportunity for these bands to play alongside some of today’s top metal and hardcore bands.”
The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival will take place on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, with the Atticus pre-party on Thursday, April 16. This year’s event is presented by Randall Amplifiers, Washburn Guitars and Eden Electronics. Metal Blade Records will present the main stage. Prosthetic Records will present the second stage.
The Atticus-sponsored pre-party will be a unique event that will be combining film and music, kicking off with a screening of official film sponsor Anchor Bay's film "Crowley," co-written by none other than Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson. The provocative supernatural thriller is the tale of a virtual reality experiment gone wrong, sending the soul of the British occultist Aleister Crowley into the body of a shy university professor. But even as Crowley creates all-new orgies of depraved pleasures and black magic, he is now preparing to unleash the ultimate occult event upon the world. Also showing is "Anvil! The Story of Anvil," a sometimes revealing, sometimes hilarious documentary about the legendary Canadian metal band. The movie follows best friends Robb Reiner and Lips as they make a pact to rock together forever. Their band, Anvil, hailed as the "demi-gods of Canadian metal, " influenced a musical generation that includes Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, despite never hitting the big time. Following a calamitous European tour, Lips and Robb, now in their fifties, set off to record their 13th album in one last attempt to fulfill their boyhood dreams. The film will be followed by a performance by the band itself. The pre-party will also be held at the Palladium. Admission is free with a weekend pass or $15 for non-ticket holders.
Prices this year are $40 for Friday, $45 for Saturday or $79 for a 2-day ticket that also includes free admission to the kick off party on Thursday. Tickets are available at all Strawberries, FYE Stores, online at tickets.com or by calling (800) 477-6849. Tickets are available now.

NY grinders, Psyopus, have revealed Brian Woodruff as their newest vocalist.
"Psyopus is long overdue and happy to announce new vocalist Brian Woodruff into the band. If you've seen Psyopus at all since the beginning of our Grinding Into Cataclysm tour that began in August, you may have noticed the new face on the stage. Well, Here is the explanation. After Harrison Christie's announced replacement, Matt Duckbirth, flaked out shortly after our press release of his joining the band, we replaced him with Brian. Brian was known as the vocalist from the Binghamton/Rochester, NY band As This Body, I Exist. We worked with him intensely, brought him into the studio and recorded the new album. This album was recorded with Brian. VERY shortly there after we jumped in the van and headed out for tour with War From a Harlots Mouth, Fuck the Facts and Left to Vanish. Again, after the premature press release that Matt was joining our band, we wanted to make sure that Brian was indeed the kat for the band before we made it "official". We are now here to say that he is indeed the kat for the job. Be prepared for a notch up in the vocal brutality of Psyopus."
You can hang out with Metal Blade Records, Lifeforce Records, and Relapse Records at this year's CMJ to celebrate some of their most promising young bands including: This or the Apocalypse, Bison B.C., Left to Vanish, Tombs, and Psyopus. There will also be a raffle for a huge gift basket containing prizes from all three record labels.

Lifeforce Records America has announced the addition of Philadelphia's LEFT TO VANISH to their roster.
LEFT TO VANISH's sound builds upon their rich Philadelphia heritage and sets out to expand upon the current extreme metal and hardcore sounds of today to create intricate, groove-oriented brutality. Being around for four years now, Left to Vanish has gone through many hardships and line up changes but has remained extremely focused and definitely gelled to form the powerhouse that they are today. Consisting of Keith Knolan (vocals), Sean Salm (guitars), Kevin Salm (guitars), Paul Meredith (drums) and Bryan Little (bass), LEFT TO VANISH are highly determined and set to destroy.
Combining elements of ambient guitars over thick cut riffs, LEFT TO VANISH hopes to define a new genre of metal for their upcoming Lifeforce Records America debut "Versus The Throne" due out July 22nd.
Sean Salm of Left To Vanish comments on the signing: "We are so stoked to get the chance to work with Lifeforce and be among such an amazing roster. Bands that we have looked up to for years have grown and worked with Lifeforce. We are currently in the midst of recording and we can assure you it's a masterpiece in the works. All of us cannot wait to get back on the road and release this record!"
Drew Juergens of Lifeforce Records America had this to say on the signing: "I am extremely excited to be working with LEFT TO VANISH, they have proven to be exceptionally focused and have done a lot of leg work on their own to get their name out there. Their new material is not only stellar but jaw dropping, almost like a mixture of newer Between the Buried and Me and A Life Once Lost, but not derivative in the least with a true sense of self and forward thinking progression!"
You can hear a rough version of the new track "Lauftanza Heist" from their Lifeforce debut "Versus The Throne" on the band's MySpace page.
