Each week in "Unearthing the Metal Underground," we'll be putting a few quality underground bands in the spotlight in an attempt to get the word out about them. This week I am exploring the New Jersey extreme metal scene.
The extreme metal scene in New Jersey is hard to find, but it's there. I find that most of them like to hide under the radar and remain underground. the bands I'm featuring here aren't that kind. these are the ones looking to make their foot print in the scene by doing something a little different in their own way. New Jersey death metal band, The Doomsday Prophecy, has posted a demo recording, entitled "Counting the Days," on their MySpace page. The Doomsday Prophecy features members of Norman Bates.
The band has also issued the following update:
"The band is in contact with a producer who a lot of you will know, we will take the month of August off for downtime, and to get some pre-production done. Also (if you haven't noticed) we have been filming the last group of shows as well as a whole lot of fun footage for webisodes that will be a fun way for all of you to get to know us and what were about a little better. As of now we hit the stage again September 20th, for a killer show in Trenton, with some of the finest metal and death metal bands this state has to offer." More...

"We need a new bass player! If you are really good at bass and live in the NJ area and have your own transportation and equipment we would love for to try our for bass. if you would like to try out just message/comment us."

"New songs from our upcoming EP, "Plaguebearer" are up now. take a listen to them and tell us what you think. we are very proud of these songs and happy to share them with our fans and new listeners. guitar solo played on Return Of Gomarrah was played by the great "Bobby Torres" from Akora. he is also the one who recorded this album. we are very proud to work with Bobby and approve him to any band who wants to get recorded."
