Goatwhore has announced three upcoming tours, alongside The Absence, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Watain. Vocalist Ben Falgoust has commented on the upcoming tour schedule:
"Just when one tour comes to an end another few step into place. We have, as always, put an extreme effort on touring for each release we put out. Our most current release, Carving Out The Eyes of God, is no exception and has brought us on many great touring adventures. Just returning home from Ozzfest 2010 we find ourselves locking in the rest of the year with two excellent tours. First, alongside our good friends in The Black Dahlia Murder, then a final end of the year outing with the black art of Watain. The Ozzfest experience was a great thing to be a part of. Playing and hanging with good friends and the bonus of watching some legendary musicians that have influenced us from our earlier metal years. We are looking forward to finishing up the year and getting things rolling for the next release. Hope to see everyone on the road in the next couple of months."
Drummer Zack Simmons adds: "This has been a great time touring for this record. We've been very fortunate to been included on a lot of good tours. It was an honor to be included on Ozzfest once again. We are very confident and determined to deliver another killer record and tour our asses off again, as we always do! Stay fuck!!! Stay thirsty, my friends! P.S. Be careful where you store your sewing needles. You never know what can happen…"

Vocalist E comments on the upcoming tour, "It is with a scornful leer towards our enemies and a proudly risen cup of blood towards our devoted followers that we now reveal our plans for America in the fall. We have also managed to sort out the past problems we have had when it comes to the compromised lineup for US tours, which feels extremely good. The songs of Lawless Darkness truly demand a full lineup as well as my total submission to the vocal duties, which is exactly what they will get now. Swedish black metal band Watain hired New York-based design/printing company Metastazis (who has done work for Nachtmystium, Antaeus and Averse Sefira, among others) to print gig posters for a London show, and the posters were done in human blood. The blood came from the designer and from an unnamed Watain fan. 111 copies of the poster were made, to be sold exclusively at the performance. You can read more about the process and see pictures at Metastazis's blog, here and here.

In an official statement to American fans before the band's headlining appearance at this year's Maryland Deathfest, Watain front man E. warns of the carnage to come. "We are leaving for the US in 11 hours from now, armed to the teeth and ready to murder. The Watain performance at Maryland Deathfest shall be a triumphant holocaust of all that is holy, and a massive celebration of the gods of Lawless Darkness! Be prepared."
E. also released info on Watain's lineup for this unholy excursion: "Due to legal bullshit, our brother Set will not be able to enter the States for Maryland Deathfest. E will handle the second guitar and vocals. The rest of the line up will be as always; H - Battery, P - Guitar, A - Bass. Try as you might, but nothing can stop the Devils sworn to do their work! Not even the tame resistance of the law."
Watain will headline the first night of Maryland Deathfest 2010 this Friday night alongside other first day headliners D.R.I., Gorguts, and Possessed, and will be the first stateside appearance from the band since the 2008 Black Metal Magic tour. This is also the first North American Watain live action fueling their upcoming fourth full-length opus, "Lawless Darkness," which is due out June 8th on Season of Mist.
Metalhit.com has organized a FREE Digital Music Compilation to be distributed at the Maryland Deathfest (May 28th-30th). The compilation will come in the form of a card, each with a unique code that will allow recipients to redeem their free compilation at the Metalhit.com website.

The free compilation includes 16 songs featuring: WATAIN and PENTAGRAM, both of whom are performing at the event, as well as other stellar bands like REVOCATION, THE CRINN, WORMROT, GRAVES OF VALOR, HAIL OF BULLETS, NOMINON, CARDIAC ARREST, SECTIONED, DIABOLIC, COLONIZE THE ROTTING, ALDAARON, SACRILEGIOUS IMPALEMENT, VULVECTOMY, and ORTHRUS.
Metalhit.com will have download cards available at other worldwide metal events this year, such as the Michigan Deathfest and the Devilstone Festival in Lithuania.

The band returned to Necromorbus Studio (Deathspell Omega, Funeral Mist, Ondskapt, Nominon, Unanimated et al) in Alvik, Sweden to record the ten-track, hour-plus long album, which features strikingly detailed cover art by Zbigniew M. Bielak. Commented vocalist/bassist E. of the imagery, "The front cover is made by artist Zbigniew M. Bielak from Poland, one of the few living artists we deem worthy to work with. However elaborate on it's own, this front cover should be seen as a mere taste of the most extensive artwork ever seen in a WATAIN context, hell, even in a Black Metal context!" Watain recently announced the release date of their upcoming album, "Lawless Darkness."
"The title symbolizes the unbound chaotic potential of that which is void of light", frontman E. comments. "The light that defines, the light that shapes and restricts. The light by which the forces of law and order uphold their reign. In the absence of that light lies the wellspring of WATAIN: in Lawless Darkness.
"With this album and in all of our efforts with WATAIN we aim to capture the hungry madness and glimmering purity of darkness beyond illusion, the void that holds all yet where naught is manifest, the primordial tomb into which all the vanity of man and his creation shall collapse: indeed, The Lawless Darkness!
"Lawless Darkness shall be seen as a monument erected in honour of that collapse and a dedication to all those brave souls, who have willingly dared to venture the winding paths towards it."
"Shed not thy light on me
Get thee hence, thoughts defined
Blind me not with your bright structures
For I am of the night
"Let not thy rays caress me
Judged by them I will not be
For they are the light that governs man
And I am the enemy"
In other news, WATAIN will return to the United States once again in late May as part of the annual aural offensive known as the Maryland Deathfest, appearing with Sodom, Obituary, Entombed, Possessed, Necrophobic and countless more.
And, after completing the regular portion of their set at this year's Sweden Rock Festival in on June 12th, WATAIN will return to the stage for a unique 45-minute tribute concert featuring classic Bathory songs. The event promises to be even more special as the Bathory part of WATAIN's performance will be introduced by none other than late Bathory mainman Quorthon's father and producer, Börje "Boss" Forsberg. "It feels great to have Boss participating in a part of the show, since he, in a way, is the only living link to the Bathory myth," says E. "It will still be a tribute show and nothing else, but we are, of course, honored to be able to do it with his blessing!"
The organisers of the Czech Republics Brutal Assault festival has announced two more bands for this years edition of the event. Swedish black metal kings WATAIN just completed their fourth full-length album, after two months at Necromorbus Studio.
Vocalist and mastermind E. comments, "I am now holding in my hand the final master tape of what might be the most dynamic and charged WATAIN release ever recorded. May the gods unto which it is written be pleased! We are very much looking forward to share this rich feast with our followers, whom we know have been hungering for a very long time. All I can say is that it will be worth the wait. We raise our cups unto all of you whose patience and support have been constant during the three fiery years since the release of 'Sworn to the Dark,' and look forward to set the night aflame with you again soon!"
The unveiling of WATAIN's fourth album will take place on June 7th.
Swedish metal band Ram has issued the following update about "Lightbringer," their upcoming album:
"Compared to 'Forced Entry' the 'Lightbringer' album is a step in manydirections for us. Forced Entry was a very straight forward (in RAM terms) Heavy Metal album, Lightbringer is more concept orientated and it displays an array of different themes that are noticeable in songwriting, lyrics and throughout the production.
"Including a horror mantra that features Mexican poet Adelaida Caballero performing one of her profound, surrealistic and magick poems, this album offers hard and heavy but quite unorthodox Heavy Metal songs that feature many twists and different parts, along with melancholic and very melodic pieces. E from the infamous Black Metal band Watain is featured on one track which is A Modern Heavy Black Metal track and he lays down some Sinister vocals indeed. Something as unusual as a metal horror opera, 'The Elixir' features a macabre tale in vein of Edgar Allan Poes work. Our most epic track to date and also the longest RAM song ever recorded is a song about the Battle at Suomussalmi in 1939 during the Finnish winter war."
The track listing is as follows: More...
The 2009 Kings of Black Metal Festival will take place in Hessen, Germany on April 18th. Pre-sale tickets are available here. The bands confirmed for the festival are as follows:
Watain ( with special pyro show! )
Swedish death metallers, Necrophobic, welcome their new bassist, Alex Friberg, and have issued an update on their new album:
"NECROPHOBIC is from now on a 5 piece strong legion! During 2008 the band did a number of shows as a 5 piece with Erik Danielsson (Watain) as a session member. This made Necrophobic come to think of continue on a new path and develop the live performances as the new live impression was much better." More...
