This will mark WATAIN's first time touring North America as a five-piece. Commented vocalist E, "Getting the whole band into the U.S. has always been a somewhat problematic issue, due to criminal records and related nonsense. This time we've at least managed to get five people in, although we had to find a temporary replacement for our brother Set, who is still denied entrance into the 'Land of the Free.' Instead we've invited SL from The Devil's Blood to handle the second guitar on this tour. The past month in Europe has nourished the fires of our Temple indeed, and it is with increased power and victory in our hearts that we leave the European shores in flames and set our sails towards the west. Beware..."
Added Set on being denied Stateside entry, "It is with great disappointment -- but with little surprise -- that I am once again denied entry into the States. That's one of the small prices to pay being a sworn enemy of their world. It feels wrong to not be able to join this tour, even more so after just returning from the most intense five weeks of our Reaping Death tour with Destroyer 666. On the other hand, I honestly couldn't ask for a better replacement in this (or any other) situation than SL, whose talent and vision within the sinister musical Craft is undeniable. America, I'll see you soon enough...FTW!" More...
Otargos has checked in with the following recap of the band's recent "Reaping Death" tour with Watain and Destroyer 666:

"We couldn't have expected something better for us. Otargos music has never been so massive on stage since this tour and we are really excited about hitting the European roads again in the future! Thanks to all our fans and new ones who supported us along this tour. Be sure that it's only our first attack and prepare yourself for a fucking WAR next time!"

Goatwhore has announced three upcoming tours, alongside The Absence, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Watain. Vocalist Ben Falgoust has commented on the upcoming tour schedule:
"Just when one tour comes to an end another few step into place. We have, as always, put an extreme effort on touring for each release we put out. Our most current release, Carving Out The Eyes of God, is no exception and has brought us on many great touring adventures. Just returning home from Ozzfest 2010 we find ourselves locking in the rest of the year with two excellent tours. First, alongside our good friends in The Black Dahlia Murder, then a final end of the year outing with the black art of Watain. The Ozzfest experience was a great thing to be a part of. Playing and hanging with good friends and the bonus of watching some legendary musicians that have influenced us from our earlier metal years. We are looking forward to finishing up the year and getting things rolling for the next release. Hope to see everyone on the road in the next couple of months."
Drummer Zack Simmons adds: "This has been a great time touring for this record. We've been very fortunate to been included on a lot of good tours. It was an honor to be included on Ozzfest once again. We are very confident and determined to deliver another killer record and tour our asses off again, as we always do! Stay fuck!!! Stay thirsty, my friends! P.S. Be careful where you store your sewing needles. You never know what can happen…"

Swedish black metal band Watain hired New York-based design/printing company Metastazis (who has done work for Nachtmystium, Antaeus and Averse Sefira, among others) to print gig posters for a London show, and the posters were done in human blood. The blood came from the designer and from an unnamed Watain fan. 111 copies of the poster were made, to be sold exclusively at the performance. You can read more about the process and see pictures at Metastazis's blog, here and here.

In an official statement to American fans before the band's headlining appearance at this year's Maryland Deathfest, Watain front man E. warns of the carnage to come. "We are leaving for the US in 11 hours from now, armed to the teeth and ready to murder. The Watain performance at Maryland Deathfest shall be a triumphant holocaust of all that is holy, and a massive celebration of the gods of Lawless Darkness! Be prepared."
E. also released info on Watain's lineup for this unholy excursion: "Due to legal bullshit, our brother Set will not be able to enter the States for Maryland Deathfest. E will handle the second guitar and vocals. The rest of the line up will be as always; H - Battery, P - Guitar, A - Bass. Try as you might, but nothing can stop the Devils sworn to do their work! Not even the tame resistance of the law."
Watain will headline the first night of Maryland Deathfest 2010 this Friday night alongside other first day headliners D.R.I., Gorguts, and Possessed, and will be the first stateside appearance from the band since the 2008 Black Metal Magic tour. This is also the first North American Watain live action fueling their upcoming fourth full-length opus, "Lawless Darkness," which is due out June 8th on Season of Mist.

The free compilation includes 16 songs featuring: WATAIN and PENTAGRAM, both of whom are performing at the event, as well as other stellar bands like REVOCATION, THE CRINN, WORMROT, GRAVES OF VALOR, HAIL OF BULLETS, NOMINON, CARDIAC ARREST, SECTIONED, DIABOLIC, COLONIZE THE ROTTING, ALDAARON, SACRILEGIOUS IMPALEMENT, VULVECTOMY, and ORTHRUS.

The band returned to Necromorbus Studio (Deathspell Omega, Funeral Mist, Ondskapt, Nominon, Unanimated et al) in Alvik, Sweden to record the ten-track, hour-plus long album, which features strikingly detailed cover art by Zbigniew M. Bielak. Commented vocalist/bassist E. of the imagery, "The front cover is made by artist Zbigniew M. Bielak from Poland, one of the few living artists we deem worthy to work with. However elaborate on it's own, this front cover should be seen as a mere taste of the most extensive artwork ever seen in a WATAIN context, hell, even in a Black Metal context!"
