The 2012 edition of the Bloodstock Open Air festival will take place this coming August 9th - 12th, and the organizers of the festival have now issued the following statement about confirming Machine Head:
"It is with tremendous excitement that we can now reveal our final headliner to be Oakland metal titans Machine Head, who will make their first ever UK festival headlining appearance on Saturday, August 11th on the RONNIE JAMES DIO main stage.
"Machine Head first graced UK shores in the wake of their landmark debut album 'Burn My Eyes' in 1994 as main support to Slayer. Fan reaction to Machine Head’s signature brand of crushing metal was so intense that the band would return immediately afterward to headline their own sold-out shows at many of the same venues, launching a massive swell of passionate fan support that continues to this day.
"Seven albums, a Grammy nomination and countless tours later, UK fans continue to champion and support Machine Head as feverishly as they did at those first shows, and this year, at Bloodstock Open Air 2012, they will be given the unprecedented opportunity to influence Machine Head’s set list!
"Commemorating the 20th anniversary of Machine Head’s first-ever live performance at their roadie Mike Scum's getting-evicted-from-his-house party - for which they performed five songs – Bloodstocker ticket holders will be given the opportunity to vote for the five 'Burn My Eyes' songs they most want to hear Machine Head play during their headline set Saturday night, with the five that receive the most votes included in the set list (details to follow)!
"Anyone that’s ever witnessed Machine Head live will attest to the fact that the raw, unbridled energy of their performance is unlike anything else you’ll ever see. With countless legendary UK performances already on record, and a first-ever fan-influenced setlist, it goes without saying that Machine Head’s headline set at Bloodstock Open Air 2012 is going to go down in metal history as one of those festival performances that you’ll forever be glad you got to see. Keep an eye on the official Bloodstock Facebook page for your chance to vote on the songs YOU want to hear."

The Bloodstock 2012 organizers have announced a further three acts for the Sophie stage at this year's festival.
Returning to Catton Hall, Witchsorrow threatens the British summer time with downtuned doom and gloom that echoes metal greats such as St Vitus, Candlemass and Trouble. Says mainman Necro Skull: "We are truly honoured to be returning to cast a shadow over Bloodstock once more. We promise you total doom annihilation, a celebration for the damned as the end of the world looms at the end of this wretched annum. To be in the company of such excellent bands as Watain, Alice Cooper, Orange Goblin, Grand Magus and Winterfylleth is a grand thing indeed. God curse us, every one!"
Returning for the second year in a row, London loud-louts Dripback take a break from the studio to come back to the Sophie stage with their seething mix of hardcore and death metal. The band commented, “For us it’s all about being intense in tents, so this really is the perfect festival slot for Dripback. We’re all so buzzing about playing with Crowbar, Hatebreed, Testament and all the other awesome bands, this really is the best festival."
Finally, Swiss thrashers Battalion make their UK debut at Bloodstock. The Thrash Maniacs check in to say: “It's the first time for us to play in England! What a fucking start! We're looking forward to kick some ass there!!! See ya Bloodstock! Cheers from Zurich, the Battalion-Bastards.”

Opus Diaboli will be unleashed in North America on June 5, 2012.
"Watain is currently spreading Satanic rituals throughout the lands on the inaugural Decibel Magazine Tour alongside Behemoth, The Devil’s Blood and In Solitude. Swedish black metal legion Watain -- which is currently waging Satanic rituals upon the masses on the inaugural Decibel Magazine Tour alongside Behemoth, The Devil’s Blood and In Solitude -- today announced additional headlining dates that will include stops in Poughkeepsie, New York, Cleveland, Ohio, Joliet, Illinois, Columbus, Ohio, and Detroit, Michigan.

With a plethora of metal talent already on offer - including Alice Cooper, Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, Testament, Hatebreed and loads more - Bloodstock Open Air has another addition to it’s main stage, in the form of New Orleans sludge-monsters Crowbar. The organizers of the festival commented:
"The epitome of heavy, Kirk Windstein and co have been showing the world that speed isn’t everything since their debut 'Obedience Thru Suffering' stunned the metal world in 1991 with its downtuned, slow-paced yet punishingly heavy sound. With nine studio albums under their very large belts, Crowbar have mastered the art of the riff, continually delivering irresistible sludgey metal via a sound uniquely their own. With mammoth sludgey slabs such as 'I Despise,' 'All I Had (I Gave),' 'Time He’s Nothing,' 'Like Broken Glass,' 'Nothing' and many more, the Ronnie James Dio Stage will be put to the test at Crowbar’s only UK festival of 2012.
"Over on the Sophie stage, additions come in the form of homegrown extreme symphonic metallers and Metal 2 The Masses winners Saturnian, fellow countrymen and Melo-death thrashers Bloodshot Dawn, as well as Finnish melodic death metallers Re-Armed."
Swedish black metal horde Watain has been forced to cancel the first five shows (including one headlining performance) of the group's previously announced North American tour — scheduled to start tomorrow (April 11) in Columbus, Ohio — due to delays in the visa process.
Comments the band in a collective statement: “It’s not the first time the law stands in our way trying to prevent us from doing our work, and just like all the previous times it will lay broken and humiliated eventually. We are content we will be victorious, meanwhile we ask all our U.S. supporters to have patience and prepare themselves for the coming of Watain!”
The band's upcoming tour dates with Behemoth, The Devil's Blood, and In Solitude are as follows: More...
Swedish black metal heathens Watain are set to unleash a new DVD upon the masses. Titled "Opus Diaboli," the production commemorates the band’s 13 years of chaos by providing a visual and audio documentation of the ceremonial anniversary concert performance in Stockholm and the long years of physical, intellectual, and spiritual work leading up to it. According to a press release, "Opus Diaboli is an epic 90-minute journey into the forbidden realms of wild-hearted Satanic metal and the manifestation of a unique band that has truly chosen a path few have ever dared to tread upon."
Comments the band in a collective statement: “This movie was first meant to be the recording of our 13-year anniversary concert, but as everything with Watain, it took on a life of its own and become one of our most ambitious projects to date. It is a very personal and emotional piece of work and is certainly not for the faint of heart. But for those who wish to explore the glimmering abyss of Watain further, this will be a rewarding release for sure. The box version of Opus Diaboli [available exclusively through the band’s own Wolfwear.net] contains an exclusive photobook.
"It was an overwhelming experience going through the massive archives in search of photos that best sum up the storm of passionate turmoil that has marked the Watain journey, especially since we wanted to stay away from live photos and focus more on moments off stage. The results were however very satisfying and offer a rare and spicy mixture of photos of which most have never been published previously. We are also proud to announce that this will be the first release on our own label ‘His Master’s Noise,’ a name originating from Bathory who had it in mind for their own label back in the early 1980s. Just like with our merch store wolfwear.net from which the limited box set will be available, this time we have chosen to stand by our own and do things our way.”
"Opus Diaboli" will be unleashed in North America on June 5th, 2012. As previously announced, Watain will take part in the inaugural Decibel Magazine Tour alongside Behemoth, The Devil’s Blood and In Solitude. The live ceremonies will commence next week on April 11 in Ohio and bloody 26 stages including a stop in Oklahoma City where the trek will merge with the U.S. Torture Tour featuring Cannibal Corpse, Exhumed, Abysmal Dawn, and Arkaik for an evening of audio devastation. The inaugural Decibel Magazine tour kicks off in a mere eight days in Columbus, OH. It wasn't too late, however, for the venue owners to prohibit the bands from appearing at The Brewmaster's Gate. Behemoth, Watain, The Devil's Blood, and In Solitude are being forbidden from playing at the venue because of religious conflicts with the venue owners. These bands are no strangers to this type of treatment, and a new venue has already been confirmed. The Columbus, OH show will now be at Al Rosa. Tickets for this show are still available and can be purchased here.
Behemoth's front man, Nergal, comments further: "Wow, big motherfuckin' WOW! We are facing a legendary moment: Amerika, the land of the free, is banning Behemoth coz of religious beliefs. The madness starts in Ohio, but of korz we are playing anyway. Nothing can stop us now. God, please save me from this freedom…"
Beginning on April 11th and laying waste through a gargantuan 26-date run, the Decibel Magazine Tour (presented by Metal Blade Records, IndieMerchStore.com, FYE, ESP Guitars and Good Fight Entertainment) not only offers four diverse European artists hand-picked by the magazine, but doubles as Behemoth's first U.S. tour since vocalist/guitarist Adam "Nergal" Darski's well-documented battle with—and triumph over—leukemia. Dates are as follows: More...
Dutch occult rockers The Devil's Blood are gearing up for a near month-long run of North American dates on the forthcoming Decibel Magazine Tour alongside Behemoth, Watain and In Solitude. The band will be touring in support of "The Thousandfold Epicentre" (reviewed here) released earlier this year via Metal Blade Records.
Comments founder and band leader SL: “The Devil's Blood is proud and extremely eager to travel the New World alongside some of the world’s most dedicated metal bands. Dedicated not to some pathetic notion of ‘scene’ or ‘unity’ but to a clear, totally individual, spiritual path that although not understood by most is perhaps the most valid and urgent one available for wandering feet to travel in the twilight of the Iron Age. We share many opinions and disagree on many more, yet our offerings all speak of that great mystery which we all aspire to with passion and fury. Praise be to all those who accompany us on this particular path.”

The tour, which boasts the monolithic lineup of Behemoth, Watain, The Devil’s Blood, and In Solitude, will make its way to the House of Blues on April 25th and Ides of Gemini is grateful for the opportunity to open the eclectic rituals that evening.
Comments guitarist/backing vocalist J. Bennett: "Ides of Gemini ibeyond thrilled to be joining Behemoth, Watain, The Devil's Blood and In Solitude on the Los Angeles date of Decibel's mega-tour extravaganza. For anyone who wants to get there before all the blood and Satanism starts - I know, I know: why would you wanna do that? - we promise to make it worth your while. And by that I mean that we will be handing out free drugs before we play. Okay, that's a lie. I'm not gonna share my drugs with you. We barely know each other. See you on the 25th, though?"

As previously announced, Swedish black metal miscreants Watain will take part in the inaugural Decibel Magazine Tour alongside Behemoth, The Devil’s Blood, and In Solitude. The live ceremonies will begin on April 11th in Ohio and bloody 26 stages including a stop in Oklahoma City where the trek will merge with the U.S. Torture Tour featuring Cannibal Corpse, Exhumed, Abysmal Dawn, and Arkaik for an evening of audio devastation.
Pleased to take part in the event, frontman Erik Danielsson comments: “We were originally meant to spend this year in the shadows, focusing inwards and on the new material we have compiled during the years since Lawless Darkness was released. This tour however was a bit too good to say no to. It is so seldom these days that someone actually managed to put together a descent tour package, which Decibel sure has managed to do this time. A ‘clash of the titans’ indeed! And considering the other bands on the tour, I can just imagine our management and the promotors biting their fingernails in anxiety and horror, waiting for the first arson or murder report from the road.
"Touring the States is always inspirational; there is always lots of emotion, anger, debauchery, decadence and a general feeling of lawlessness in the air, so I am sure this tour will nourish the writing process to a certain extent as well. A rich and fertile foundation of harsh physical and emotional experience has always played a big role in Watain writing new material, and this tour will for sure contribute to that. We will aim to make it interesting and memorable enough to do so.”
