Blastfest Announces Final Band Confirmations

The organizers of the Blastfest have checked in with the following announcement about final band confirmations:

"The lineup announcements had to come to an end eventually and Blastfest has now revealed the final three bands for the main lineup. But that’s not to say what you see on the burgeoning Blastfest poster is all that’s happening. No, no, no, there will be more!

"There’s already a lineup that would bring tears to the eyes of even the toughest metalhead with bands such as Demilich, Satyricon, Decapitated, Paradise Lost, At The Gates & Moonsorrow... and just last week a cruise up the Norwegian fjords with live bands was announced as part of the first days festivities. We still have to hear more… the clinics, the stand up comedy, the exhibitions, and lots more have yet to be revealed!

"For now, let’s leave this here… Sweden’s Uppsala upstarts, the black metal powerhouse, the entity of its own who released possibly their best work to date just last year with ‘The Hunt’, yes, the mighty Watain have been announced as another Blastfest 2015 headliner. The festival has also welcomed Austria’s sickest death metal export Schrinec Plays Pungent Stench and Bergens blackened deaththrash horde Grimfist." More...

Watain Announces Tour With Tribulation

With the release of their forthcoming full-length, "The Wild Hunt" drawing near (review coming soon), Swedish black metallers Watain are now ready to announce their first North American tour in support of the album.

Featuring In Solitude and Tribulation as support, this month-long headlining trek (aptly named "The Wild Hunt North America") showcases some of Sweden's finest metal from coast to coast. See below for all upcoming dates.

Watain comments: "Starting the first full tour for 'The Wild Hunt' in North America seems quite appropriate, considering how many severe experiences and sleepless nights that country has bestowed upon us while riding through its strange wilderness...A thousand years and a thousand deaths have passed since we last visited the States, so prepare yourself to face something very, very old and very, very hungry. Deformed from both victory and defeat, distorted by a constant influx of powers residing beyond the borders of this world, we now return to join forces with our ever loyal US supporters. With us we will have two acts that have the capacity of transforming the audience into one big open wound before we go on stage, ready then to receive the lethal yet illuminating venom of Watain." Watain Unveils New Album Artwork, Track Listing

Sweden's notorious metal extremists, Watain, have revealed the album cover artwork and track-listing for their fifth studio album, "The Wild Hunt."

Executed in oil and mixed materials, the cover for "The Wild Hunt" was done by Zbigniew M Bielak, the very same artist who was responsible for the "Lawless Darkness" artwork. The piece depicts one of the inmost shrines of Watain's temple. As on every classic still life, each object has a significant meaning, while each song of the album is also connected to an object.

"The Wild Hunt" will be released on August 19th in Europe and August 20th in North America by His Master's Noise, via Century Media Records. Click here for a teaser for the album's first single, "All That May Bleed."

Watain Posts New Single Teaser

Watain has released a video teaser for "All That May Bleed," the first single from upcoming album "The Wild Hunt." Check out the clip below. The band comments:

"'All that May Bleed' shows but one facet of a quite diverse album, but we chose this song as a first glimpse into 'The Wild Hunt' because of its bombastic lunacy and white-eyed malevolence which could be said to constitute a main foundation for the album. The lyric is an invitation to sacrificial blood letting, ecstatic zealotry and human sacrifice. The salt of Satan in the wounds of Christ!"
