Between The Buried And Me are currently at work on their new studio album. The band has posted a brief update from the studio which reads as follows:
"Hello all, things are going wonderfully well in the studio. We have drums, heavy rhythm guitars, most of the bass, acoustic/classical guitars pretty much done. We still have lots more to go. We are having an amazing time as usual with mr. jamie king. We have been filming LOTS so we’ll hopefully get some videos up in the next few weeks. We have been updating our twitter account daily as well. We are getting our touring schedule figured out as well, so an update on that soon. Hope everyone is well."
The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival will introduce an additional stage this year dedicated to up and coming bands.
The third stage, sponsored by Deathcote Records, will be located at Chasers Nightclub, located behind the Palladium on the corner of Martin Luther King and Commercial streets. The main festival will be taking place at the Palladium.
“There are so many great bands and not enough time to get all of them on during the course of two days,” said festival co-organizer Sott Lee. “Adding a third stage is a great way for us to showcase some of the developing bands and it’s a terrific opportunity for these bands to play alongside some of today’s top metal and hardcore bands.”
The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival will take place on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, with the Atticus pre-party on Thursday, April 16. This year’s event is presented by Randall Amplifiers, Washburn Guitars and Eden Electronics. Metal Blade Records will present the main stage. Prosthetic Records will present the second stage.
The Atticus-sponsored pre-party will be a unique event that will be combining film and music, kicking off with a screening of official film sponsor Anchor Bay's film "Crowley," co-written by none other than Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson. The provocative supernatural thriller is the tale of a virtual reality experiment gone wrong, sending the soul of the British occultist Aleister Crowley into the body of a shy university professor. But even as Crowley creates all-new orgies of depraved pleasures and black magic, he is now preparing to unleash the ultimate occult event upon the world. Also showing is "Anvil! The Story of Anvil," a sometimes revealing, sometimes hilarious documentary about the legendary Canadian metal band. The movie follows best friends Robb Reiner and Lips as they make a pact to rock together forever. Their band, Anvil, hailed as the "demi-gods of Canadian metal, " influenced a musical generation that includes Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax, despite never hitting the big time. Following a calamitous European tour, Lips and Robb, now in their fifties, set off to record their 13th album in one last attempt to fulfill their boyhood dreams. The film will be followed by a performance by the band itself. The pre-party will also be held at the Palladium. Admission is free with a weekend pass or $15 for non-ticket holders.
Prices this year are $40 for Friday, $45 for Saturday or $79 for a 2-day ticket that also includes free admission to the kick off party on Thursday. Tickets are available at all Strawberries, FYE Stores, online at tickets.com or by calling (800) 477-6849. Tickets are available now.

Between The Buried And Me members Tommy Rogers (vocals) and Dan Briggs (bass) recently did an interview with MetalSucks.net, during which they revealed the bands plans for the next album and more. An excerpt from the chat can be viewed below.
MetalSucks: So are you guys writing any new material yet?
Tommy: Yeah we're just slowly starting to. After this tour we're going to go full force with it and hopefully try and record next year sometime.
MetalSucks: Do you guys write on the road at all?
Tommy: No, hardly ever. We talk about it, but it never happens.
MetalSucks: Do you ever get into a room and jam it out?
Tommy: We're not really a jam kind of band at all.
Dan: We just sit in our [own] room all day and not talk to anybody and see what happens and then send it to everyone else.
Tommy: We all kind of write on our own. We tried jamming once, and it kind of went bad. Some members of the band aren't into jamming at all.
MetalSucks: So any thoughts in the direction you are going to take it?
Tommy: We're just going to take Colors a step past that. I think with every record we really progress and push ourselves and our music. I think we're going to continue that with the next record. The next one will crush Colors.

Children Of Bodom is currently on the road in North America with The Black Dahlia Murder and Between The Buried And Me. Children Of Bodom bassist Henkka Seppälä has issued the following update from the road:
"West Coast is done, so is the plains, and we are now here in the Midwest. San Fran was one of the best I think. Great venue, great crowd, especially right in front of me... Then the warmth ended. Went to Portland and Seattle. So, cooler weather, but good crowds again! Then refreshing dip in the Salt Lake. This venue was new to us, and on the shore of the lake, but it was surprising that there was so many people. Wow, we do have great package here! Then good times in Denver, and crazy sweaty show in Kansas City, and the infamous salsa party after the show. Many blackouts, but we survived. To Illinois. The Pop's, to Minnesota, where the expected happened. The first ones to get sick. No surprise, me, like always and Jaska too. First thing in the morning, hospital, couple of hours there to find out what's wrong. Ten hard medication. So the Myth show was really hard for us. We had good times but physically it was really difficult. House of Blues Chicago is always good, and the sick ones were not so sick any more, but still really hard to pull off a Children Of Bodom show. We try our best. And tonight Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Let's see how the Rave is treating us! Hope nobody's getting sick anymore..."
Children Of Bodom's new album, "Blooddrunk", landed at position No. 22 on The Billboard 200 chart after selling over 19,000 copies in its first week of release.
Henkka Seppälä and Children Of Bodom guitarist/vocalist Alexi Laiho have launched a clothing line by the name of Wildchild Industries. According to a posting on the Children Of Bodom fan site Scythes-Of-Bodom.com, "many ideas for their designs come from Alexi himself, hence the name of the company. Even though Alexi and Henkka are involved with Wildchild Industries and it goes by Alexi's stage name, their products are not Children Of Bodom merchandise or strictly related to the band in other ways."
Children Of Bodom bassist Henkka Seppälä has posted the following update from the road:
"The first headlining tour in the States since 2006. We are excited!!! Our first time in Baltimore was really cool. Of course we didn't expect anything but there were people and the crowd was great!! Thanks for that. McNulty didn't show up tho...
"And the show in Masquerade in Atlanta was one of the hottest we have experienced ever. Really. It was difficult for us, but I bet it was difficult for the crowd too. But we pulled it off somehow and it was sweaty and intense. Just the way I like it!
"Now we are heading to Texas, hope there are no hurricanes coming our way. Looking forward to play the new venue in Dallas, and also to hang out more with the Black Dahlia and Between guys later on, not enough parties yet, but I m sure we'll fix that!"
TESTAMENT has announced a string of headlining dates this October with Louisiana metallers Soilent Green. The tour includes TESTAMENT’s appearance at the Hammerstein Ballroom on October 9 in New York City, where they will be direct support to headliners Children of Bodom; also special guests, The Black Dahlia Murder and Between The Buried and Me.
Guitarist Eric Peterson checked in to discuss the Metal Masters tour and the band’s upcoming US headlining dates: "We just finished the Metal Masters tour, and it was a great tour to be on. Unfortunately, it went by too quick. We got to know everyone towards the end, and it started to feel like family. It’s too bad it had to end so soon, especially after getting to know everyone. Hopefully, the Metal Masters will continue next year in Europe."
"In the meantime, we’re heading to Japan and Australia. The last time we played there in ’06, we promised our fans we’d have a new record out the next time we came around. We kept our promise and we’re excited to get back there and play it for them."
"Once we get back, we’ll be headlining some east coast shows, including a one-off with Children of Bodom at the infamous Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. We’ll have full production, so we’re excited to put on our whole show. This tour is going to focus on secondary markets, so we don’t spoil anything for next year. We plan on having a big year and putting a big package together, wink wink."

Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy has posted the following message regarding the end of the Progressive Nation tour with Opeth, Between The Buried And Me and 3:
"Well, I guess all good things must come to an end...
"I am happy to report that the inaugural run of Progressive Nation has indeed been an undisputed success in every respect!

Progressive Nation 2008 swung by Calgary, AB this weekend for a two-night musical extravaganza, featuring Dream Theater, Opeth, 3 and Between the Buried and Me.
While much of the sold-out crowd was still working its way through the doors at Friday’s show, the Woodstock, NY-based 3 kicked things off in MacEwan Hall. A wild blend of acoustic and electric guitars and a keyboardist pulling double duty as a second drummer fired up the crowd and a lot of people who came just for Opeth or Dream Theater were drawn into the hall, rather than going straight for the beer gardens – a rare feat for opening bands at shows of this caliber. A high energy stage presence and an increasing heaviness and rapidity to their music left the crowd wanting more – and 3’s frontman Joey Eppard probably wanting some new guitar strings as they snapped up from his acoustic at the end of their final song, “Amaze Disgrace.” When I caught up with him after the show and commented on the serious string breakage going on up there, he gleaned proudly and stated “I broke all of them!” Turns out the guy plays so hard, his Knucklehead strings can’t always keep up. Sometimes they stand up to the abuse, sometimes they don’t. Somebody get this guy an endorsement! More...
The Progessive Nation Tour’s headlining acts are a match made in heaven for prog fans. Combining Opeth and Dream Theater on the same bill is something that should have happened a long time ago, and sweetening the pot with prog newcomers Three and the more experimental Between the Buried and Me created a perfect storm of progressive metal. To further set this tour apart from similar acts the bands chose to use almost entirely fully seated venues instead of the typical standing setup. More...
