Canadian metal band, Inner Surge, has announced that they are officially broken up. Steve Moore if Inner Surge issues the following message:
"Inner Surge is defunct unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on your perspective. And this is quite old news, but it needs to be written in stone. There will be no new music or live performances, offerings of any kind from this band. The site has been maintained in the past year to facilitate the further spreading of the music to new listeners, and I also considered the option of starting over with a new live lineup and a new album. Internal difficulties mainly, as well as to a lesser extent our dealings with some particularly shady people, were what stopped things. I don't think it's respectful to the former members to comment on the personal or internal difficulties. It's all in the past and there is no point in exchanging negativity of any kind. In fact, most of the band's story is of friendship, comradery and sharing the music we loved. The band was simply not meant to go on any further in that particular form. The band members from Inner Surge's final lineup, Bryan Sandau and Scott Taylor, are both excellent musicians and I hope you'll hear a lot from them in the future. They currently play for a Calgary-based band called Truck alongside Casey Rogers (who was Inner Surge's live bassist in 2008 - another great musician), and the music written so far is top notch." Canadian metal band INNER SURGE will officially release their new CD, An Offering, on January 26th through Cyclone Records and Overthrow Promotions.
According to a press release, "rather than taking the typical promotional route, An Offering is being showcased through a series of cryptic YouTube videos with controversial imagery. The track 'Limb From Limb' morphs exiled evangelist Ted Haggard into Jesus Christ amidst the politically charged lyrics 'There's more than one Ted Haggard creeping up on the kneeling. They don't need Jesus to save them. They've got friends in higher places.' 'Interahamwe', a sarcastic first person perspective of the Interahamwe militias, thanks to the US, France and the international media for supporting their efforts in killing hundreds of thousands of people. The American flag is shown fading into a pile of skulls from a Rwandan genocide memorial. More...
On June 6, 2007, Canadian rock/metal band Inner Surge and director Shaun Friesen of Free Zen Design will be launching the band's new music video for "Wolves". Inner Surge and Shaun Friesen first teamed up in late 2005, when Free Zen Design did the original artwork and layout for Inner Surge's "Signals Screaming" CD, which received top reviews after it's April 2006 release through Cyclone Records.
The "Wolves" music video is a radical departure from Inner Surge’s previous video "Retribution Song", produced by "Cabras" film director Fredy Polania. Always one to break the mold, Shaun Friesen’s directorial debut focuses on multimedia collage and conceptual animation based on the songs subject matter – the events leading to and during the 1994 Rwandan genocide - while the band takes a backseat. Inner Surge was inspired by acknowledged heroes such as Paul Rusesabagina and Romeo Dallaire, as well as the stories of the many ordinary Rwandans who helped others through this event.
The video for "Wolves" will be available for viewing and download at www.FreeZen.ca/Wolves. It is currently posted at MuchMusic's AXS website at www.muchmusic.com/axs/. Inner Surge is currently working on their next full length CD tentatively titled "An Offering."
Inner Surge has been confirmed for the soundtrack for Macabro Films feature length psychological thriller, "Amok!" Included will be "AzurA" and "The Outcome" from their latest CD, "Signals Screaming" and possibly a third track to be determined. Further details will be announced shortly.
