Heaven & Hell Fulfills their Destiny in Chicago
There is something fitting that the day of Heaven and Hell’s show in Chicago the sky darkened with brooding clouds in the middle of the afternoon. It finally opened as an avalanche of rain on the innocent countryside toward sundown time. The onslaught ended, however, about a quarter hour before the show began, as if the Metal Gods had convinced Zeus himself to end the torrent. More...
Heaven & Hell Considering Playing Ozzy Material
In a recent interview with the Boston Herald, Heaven & Hell/Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi spoke on a number of subjects from riffs and volumes, to the success of Heaven & Hell. He revealed in the interview that the band may well change the set list up a little next year by adding some material from the Ozzy Osbourne era of Black Sabbath.
“We love ‘War Pigs’ and ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Paranoid’ but we’ve played those for 40 years so it’s been a nice change," he stated, "Maybe next year we’ll do some of the old stuff."
Tony Iommi To Undergo Hand Surgery
Tony Iommi, best known as the guitarist of Black Sabbath and Heaven & Hell, has revealed in a recent interview that he will soon be undergoing some important surgery on his hand. Some excerpts from the interview read as follows:
Q: Do you know what you’re doing after this US run?
A: "After this US run, yes, we’re going to have some time off. I’ve got to have an operation on my hand, and that’s sort of a major thing I need to get done and I’ve been putting it off now. So we’re going to have some time off while I get that done. That’ll be a bit of a break, I think. Not for everybody, but it’ll be some time off from touring for me for sure."
Q: What happened to your hand?
A: "The cartilage is gone from the thumb in my fingering hand. It’s been like that now, to be honest, for a year and I’ve been taking anti-inflammatories and all sorts of stuff to try and calm it down, but it’s inevitable I’ve got to have the operation because the bone is rubbing on the bone. Funny enough, I talked to Eddie Van Halen this morning, because he’s had the same sort of problem, so I’m seeing him to have a chat about what happened to him. He thinks it’s very successful, so we’ll see."

Ozzy Osbourne Dismisses Guitarist Zakk Wylde
In a recent interview with Classic Rock magazine, metal legend Ozzy Osbourne has revealed that he has parted ways with long-time guitarist Zakk Wylde.
“Well, I’m getting a new guitar player as we speak,” said Ozzy, “and everyone has been saying to me for a long time, ‘Get Johnny 5!’ And I tried him at one time and I didn’t really give him a chance. We’ll see, I don’t know. I haven’t fallen out with Zakk, but Zakk’s got his own band, and I felt like my stuff was beginning to sound like BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. I just felt like I wanted a change, y’know?
“I’ve got a guy from Greece coming in – not the musical, the country of Greece – but I’m not going to say too much about it, cos I don’t know myself at this point. I’ve got a new album, I’m working on it as we speak. I’ve got a studio at my house and I’ve got a guy called Kevin Churko, the guy that did the last album – he’s great to work with.
"And it’s great to have your own studio. On one hand it’s great and on the other it’s not, cos when you’re at the studio you can go, ‘Sorry darling, I can’t get home for dinner, I’m stuck at the studio…’ But she can fucking come down stairs now! But I’m just enjoying my life now…" More...

Black Sabbath Author Comments On Lawsuit
Joel Gausten, the author of the book "The Sabbath Interviews," has given his opinion on the upcoming lawsuit between singer Ozzy Osbourne and guitarist Tony Iommi. It reads as follows:
"So, the internet is exploding with talk of Ozzy's suit against Iommi. As a massive Black Sabbath fan who's had the honor of interviewing several past and present members over the years, I can't resist commenting on this.
For what it's worth:
"Ozzy seeking 50% ownership of a band name he had nothing to do with for 16 years is asinine. As someone who loves the post-Ozzy stuff (like The Eternal Idol) as much, if not often more, than the first eight albums, I'd have to say that the TRUE spirit of Black Sabbath will always be with Iommi.
"Also, let's not forget the stellar talent who performed in Sabbath in the post-Ozzy years - especially the great Bob Daisley, Eric Singer, Tony Martin and the late Cozy Powell. They were kicking ass and keeping the band going while Ozzy, Geezer and Bill were doing their own thing. These folks were and remain as vital to Sabbath's history than the original four. More...

Ronnie James Dio Writing Autobiography
Legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (Dio, Black Sabbath, Heaven And Hell, Rainbow and Elf) has revealed that he is the latest metal icon to begin working on his life story. He claims the book will be, "not be centred around myself so much as me telling my life story through the stories of those around me."
"Every time I feel I’m getting halfway there, another halfway comes along,” he says. “But yes, I’m writing it and it’s certainly going to be very, very interesting for people interested in the bands I’ve been in and the people I’ve played with.
"You have to have a focal point, and I guess that had to be me. It’s an autobiography, but within it, I tell the stories that somehow explain a little bit what Ritchie (Blackmore)’s like or Tony (Iommi)’s like or Geezer (Butler)’s like. I don’t analyse them, but just in telling the tales I paint everyone in as good a light as possible. It’s not a tell-all book."
