Background

Control Denied formed originally in 1996 when Death frontman Chuck Schulinder disbanded Death in favor of going in a new, more melodic direction than Death. However, Chuck put the project on hold to record a new Death album in 1998, but in 1999 Chuck picked the project up again. They had a followup album in the works, but unfortunately Chuck lost his battle with cancer on Dec. 13th, 2001.

The band's release The Fragile Art of Existence featured lead guitarist Chuck Schulinder, guitarist Shannon Hamm, bassist Scott Clendenin, drummer Richard Christy, vocalist Tim Aymar. Steve DiGiorgio was later added to bass.
