Portland, OR Danava (pronounced: DON-UH-VUH) has signed to NYC's Tee Pee Records. The group, which just completed a month-long European headlining tour, will enter an undisclosed studio this summer to record a Tee Pee debut and follow up to 2011's "Hemisphere of Shadows."

Danava Readies New Album, "Hemisphere of Shadows"

One of the early signings that helped put Kemado Records on the map, psych/stoner/space rock band Danava now return with the long-awaited "Hemisphere of Shadows," their first new album in three years. "Hemisphere of Shadows" is scheduled for an October 4 release on Kemado.

BrooklynVegan is now streaming "Shoot Straight with a Crooked Gun," the lead track off "Hemisphere of Shadows" here.

Here's a psychedelic trailer for the album:

From their initial appearance on Kemado’s famed Invaders comp in 2006, alongside The Sword, Saviours, and Dungen, Portland, Oregon’s Danava turned heads with a bombastic 70‘s sound that melded blazing psych-metal with glam-rock flair. Danava has toured with the likes of Witchcraft, Voivod, The Melvins, Acid Mothers Temple, and Down (who have invited the band out three times now.)

"Hemisphere of Shadows" was produced and mixed by Danava vocalist/guitarist/synth man Gregory Meleney with Morgan Mitchell at Orange Room in the band’s home of Portland, Oregon. The cover art shows a detail from The Coronation Of the Virgin by medieval French painter Enguerrand Quarton.

The album sees the debut of second guitarist Andrew Forgash and new drummer Matt Oliver. Gregory Meleney describes "Hemisphere of Shadows" as a guitar-driven beast that captures the real vibe of the band better than ever before: "This album is less Michael Moorcock and more Michael Schenker. Adding Andrew Forgash as a second guitarist has shifted our focus toward the guitars. This album is more so a live record. We translate best live and Hemisphere of Shadows is closer than we've ever been to capturing it."

The tracklist is as follows:

1. Shoot Straight with a Crooked Gun
2. White Nights of Murder
3. The Last Goodbye
4. I Am the Skull
5. Riding Hood
6. The Illusion Crawls
7. Hemisphere of Shadows
8. Dying into Light

Danava brings "Hemisphere of Shadows" on the road in August for a European tour with Lecherous Gaze, followed by a North American tour in the fall with Thrones. Here are the latest Danava tour dates: More...
