California goregrind maniacs Exhumed are infinitely pleased to be added to this year’s Summer Slaughter Festival lineup. While the festival’s full schedule and routing are still to be announced, the band is confirmed to share the stage with headliners Cannibal Corpse as well as Between The Buried And Me, Goatwhore, and The Faceless.
Said vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey of the latest edition to their relentless 2012 tour cycle: “The hits just keep on coming for us this year. We are fully chuffed to be a part of the illustrious Summer Slaughter package. It's going to be awesome to get done playing early so we can concentrate on our true passion -- drinking! This hulking monstrosity of a traveling freakshow should be a mandatory thing for all the boils and ghouls out there, so we'll see you on the seemingly never-ending campaign for musical -- and just general -- destruction that we've been waging all over the planet since last April. Cheers!”
Exhumed today kick off the 16-date Grind Over Europe Tour with Rotten Sound and Magrudergrind. The group will later join Anaal Nathrakh for a short run of U.K. dates before returning to the states for a handful of headlining shows and a near month-long trek with death metal icons Cannibal Corpse. Joined by labelmates Abysmal Dawn and Arkaik, the live rituals will commence on April 5th in Jacksonville, Florida and include an appearance at the The Cincinnati Metal Fest on April 14th as well as a special show on April 28 where the brutal caravan will merge with the Decibel Magazine tour featuring Behemoth, Watain, The Devil’s Blood and In Solitude. New doom metal band, Bewilderbiest, featuring various members of other well known metal bands, has changed its name to Bereft. The band has also uploaded the song "Withered Efflorescence" to its new Facebook page for streaming.
"This will give everyone a taste of what this band is about; dark, depressing, doom," commented vocalist/guitarist Charles Elliott. "Definitely different from what we do in our usual bands. It's heavy as hell and we're all really proud how the record and collaboration came out, and we hope people feel the same way."
"On this particular track Sacha and Derek D. worked together on the music while Derek R. and I worked on the lyrics. I've always envisioned vocal tradeoffs with Sacha on this one, ever since the demo he sent me years ago, so that's what you hear on the chorus."
"This project has been on the back burner since 2008, so we hope people enjoy finally listening to it as much as we do. Come check out our first show ever at The Handbag Factory this month in Los Angeles!"
Bereft is made up of Sacha Dunable on guitar (Intronaut, Graviton), Derek Donley on drums (National Sunday Law, Graviton), Charles Elliott on vocals and guitar (Abysmal Dawn) and Derek Rydquist on bass (ex-The Faceless).
The debut album from BEREFT was recorded and mixed by drummer Derek Donley. Mastering has handled by Brian Elliott (EXHUMED, DYING FETUS) at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, FL.
The band has one upcoming shows scheduled at the moment:
9/30 The Handbag Factory - Los Angeles, CA

The Faceless also recently parted ways with vocalist Derek Rydquist.
After rumors have circulated that vocalist Derek Rydquist has left The Faceless, Lambgoat.com is now reporting that Rydquist has confirmed his split with the band. A message from the former front man to Lambgoat reads as follows:
As you Internet sleuths have deduced, I have left The Faceless. I left the band a couple months ago, and we were waiting until they had everything sorted out on their end before saying anything about it, but I guess I'll take it upon myself to break the news. I am no longer emotionally or artistically fulfilled by being the vocalist for the group, and that's how I arrived at my decision. Touring's luster has worn off, and I have found myself reconsidering the role I would like to take in creating and presenting music. Also, being a 'professional musician' was kind of ruining my love for music because when you rely on this stuff to make you money, as with anything, it is easy to become bitter towards it. Not that it was all bad, I had the best times I will ever have being in this band, but it is time for me to move on.
I'd like to thank the band and the friends I've made through the band for making this not only a life altering experience, but a life shaping one. There is an immense amount of talent in this band, and the new vocalist they have is doing a great job, so please keep supporting The Faceless. I can now join you in anticipating the new album.
If you're interested, I'm now playing in another group with some dudes from some awesome bands. Check it out here. We're mixing the album right now, so we should have some music up soon.
You can also check out a new song from The Faceless titled "The Eidolon Reality" by heading over to this location.

The Faceless guitarist Michael Keene has posted the following update online about working on a new album:
"After five years and two successful albums, we've decided to sign on with the sphinx-obsessed, record-pedaling Sumerian Records for some more! We've worked together from the start of both of our respective careers and have grown together the whole way.
"That brings me to the question, if it ain't broke, why fix it?
"There is no doubt that Sumerian has been there for us time and time again when we've needed them and they continue to grow and expand as a label every day. I'm very confident in their work for us and am proud to not only call everyone at Sumerian our business partners, but also our great friends.
"This next record is going to be the most musical and progressive record we've made. Since recording 'Planetary Duality', the goals of The Faceless have changed a bit. You can still expect a fast, technical and blistering record, but I personally am less focused on a musical aesthetic and more on musicality and making an expressive, unique, moody and expansive record. Speed picking, flying double bass and skin melting guitar solos are certainly still in order. However, you can also expect more clean vocals with big harmonies, some unique instrumentation, dark moody passages, interesting keyboards, synth guitars, vocoder and sequenced segments. It's going to be the most focused and depressive 'Faceless record to date.
"I'll also be filming as much of the recording process on my FlipCam and posting frequent webisodes along the way.
"I'm really excited to show our fans a glimpse into the daily life of The Faceless, the recording process and my little world at Keene Machine Studios. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do."
