Latest Machine Men News
Below is our complete Machine Men news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Note: We began associating news directly with bands in late 2003. Therefore, earlier band news may not be listed on this page.
Finnish traditional heavy metallers Machine Men have posted the following statement online;
"Things have been quiet for the past two years. During this time we have gone through many changes and we have been thinking about the future of the band. Unfortunately, we feel that the challenges as a band would be too hard to overcome. After long conversations we have decided that the story of Machine Men ends here. It's better to end what we started together without bitterness than to make a new album we couldn't put our hearts and souls into. We wouldn't be the five guys that stuck together no matter what. We would be something else, not Machine Men.
"This band has been the centre of our lives for over a decade. During these years we have experienced great and unforgettable moments on the road (and off). The thanks goes to all the people who have supported us and have come to see our gigs. It hasn't been an easy ride but yet we have taken all the shit with our heads held high. After all, we are from Suolahti, for fuck's sake!
"Even though it's sad, we end this with smiles on our faces and with loads of good memories to share over a pint. The story of the band ends here but we'll continue to make music as individuals. We are grateful to so many people but most of all we would like to thank our fans - without you we would have been nothing!"

Guitarist J-V Hintikka of the Finnish melodic metallers Machine Men has issued the following update:
"It's been a long time since the last happening from us. Now it's time for few updates.
"As some of you might have noticed, we haven't been really busy this year, or so it may seem. Of course, a few shows here and there but nothing else. But behind the scenes something is going on all the time.
"Early this year we decided to take a little pause which was actually six months long. During this time some of us took their time and wrote new material. After the break, we did few shows and festivals here and there. Too quiet, if you ask me, but the new material takes time and we're taking it now.
"At the moment there are many raw versions, allmost for a whole album. So far we have rehearsed four new songs. They sound really amazing! Yep, I know it's a cliché to say, but no can do if you really believe so! The songs are more melodic but still energetic metal, they're more diverse than on previous albums. But more on that later.
"We are starting a new diary. We'll try to write what happens behind the scenes, at the rehearsing room, what the new songs will be like and maybe something else if it feels so."

Metallysee Booking Agency, the long-running Belgian company which was recently blamed for a string of European tour cancellations by such bands as FINNTROLL, DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER, MARDUK, ENSLAVED and UNLEASHED — has released the following statement:
"For all of those that have been writing in with their hate mail, let me take a moment now to explain the recent mishaps that have been happening at my company, Metallysee Booking Agency.
"First of all, my name is Johan De Mesmaeker and I am one of the owners of Metallysee. I have had this company for more than 22 years, and during that time I have put many bands on tour in Europe. Many who have gone on to become bigger acts and many that have gone on to other booking agencies.
"During the past year, I had to take a leave from running the day-to-day operations of my company due to personal reasons and in my place was my (former) employee named Henk Mol (of Vain Productions). Together with my business partner Gina, Henk was responsible for putting the tours together and making sure that things functioned as they should. Well, as we know now, things didn't happen exactly this way.
"With my sister not knowing anything about the business (or the bands), Henk was pretty much in control of everything. In the case of the Earthshaker Roadshock tour, he, and HE ALONE, made the cost of this tour so high that it was impossible to continue that tour. Some bands were contracted to be paid more than they should have, while other bands were contracted to be paid when in fact they should have been paying us tour support. The same was the case with the MARDUK tour.
"In order to keep my company alive, I had no choice but to cancel these tours to avoid myself going into bankruptcy and to be able to continue in a business that I've been involved in for many years.
"In the case of Henk Mol, on the eve of the Earthshaker tour he conveniently 'quit' his position (and even has the NERVE to go back to some bands on our roster to tell them how he 'left' Metallysee and is in the process of starting his own booking agency and would like to book their tours from now on).
"Now while I don't absolve myself from any responsibility of these recent errors, the fact remains that before I took my leave, I have been doing the No Mercy and X-Mas tours (for example) twice a year for the past nine years that were completely successful. As most of you know, some of these tours had up to 8 and 9 bands and they always went to the [end] and everyone was always paid in full.
"In conclusion, I hope that this answers some questions that people have been asking. Slowly, I will rebuild my company and continue to book tours for the European market.
"To the bands that these problems have affected — FINNTROLL, AFTER FOREVER, DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER, TAROT, MACHINE MEN, ALL ENDS, MARDUK, ENSLAVED, MELECHESH, KEEP OF KALESSIN, GOATWHORE, PANTHEON I, UNLEASHED and BELPHEGOR — I offer my sincere apologies and will make every effort in time to compensate them for their losses. To the fans, labels, managers and my longtime promoter partners, I also offer my apologies."

MACHINE MEN's video for its new single, "No Talk without the Giant", has been posted online at this location (Windows Media, 13 MB). Finland: Wednesday, February 14, 2007
Germany / Austria / Switzerland / Benelux: Friday, February 16, 2007
U.K. / France / Spain / Denmark / Norway : Monday, February 19, 2007
Sweden / Hungary: Wednesday, February 21, 2007.
Italy: Friday, February 23, 2007
Vocalist Antony recently had the following to say about the "No Talk without the Giant" video shoot: "The other guys woke up 3:00 a.m. on Sunday morning — I didn't sleep at all 'cos I was on the road with some Satanic Christmas band. I sat two hours in a train and the guys drove 300km from our hellish hometown Suolahti to Helsinki. The shooting place was a really big and old train hall — really cool and cruel place. I think my neck is broken 'cos we banged our heads about 10 hours and we really hope you'll enjoy the video."

Finnish metal act MACHINE MEN has entered the studio to record the follow-up to its Century Media Records debut, "Elegies". Entitled "The Shadow Gallery", the new album is scheduled for a January 2007 release through Century Media Records.
Vocalist Antony checks in from Fantom Studio (ROTTEN SOUND, NEGATIVE) in Tampere, Finland: "We are in the studio [for] three weeks [now] and the songs sound good and very powerful! And we are in schedule 'cos we can record 24 hours a day if we want. Of course, we also have to sleep sometime ;-). The new album will be heavier and faster than the last one, but still melodic. And a good thing is — all the songs work live very well. Can't wait for the moment when I hear all the songs mixed and the feeling of intoxication after that."
MACHINE MEN's "Falling" single from the "Elegies" album landed in the Finnish Top Five and the band successfully toured Europe with SONATA ARCTICA. The also made several high-profile appearances at the big European summer festivals, such as Wacken Open Air, Graspop Metal Meeting and Earthshaker Fest.
Norwegian symphonic metal band TRISTANIA have parted ways with vocalist Kjetil Ingebrethsen.
Commented Kjetil: "After four amazing years, I have decided to leave TRISTANIA. There is no bad blood between us at all, and we are still good friends. This is a choice I had to make, just for my own part, and it was the right time to do it now — before the new album.
"I just want to take the opportunity to thank all the fans I have met, and bands I have shared stage with, during tours and festivals. It's been a blast — you will truly be remembered!
"To the TRISTANIA 'family'; Einar, Vibeke, Kenneth, Anders, Rune, Svein Terje, Østen and Carlo — it's been fantastic to be a part of you these years, thank you so much for everything."
The remaining members of TRISTANIA have issued the following statement regarding Kjetil's departure: More...
