Background
Children of Bodom was bred in spring 1993 when guitarist Alexi Laiho (Sinergy, Kylähullut, ex-Impaled Nazarene, Thy Serpent) and drummer Jaska Raatikainen (Virtuocity) decided to form a death metal band under the moniker "Inearthed." They recruited bassist Samuli Miettinen and recorded their first demo "Implosion of Heaven" in 1994. Soon after, the band added guitarist Alexander Kuoppala and keyboardist Jani Pera Pirisjoki. Later on, Miettinen and Pirisjoki left the band and Henkka Seppäla (bass) and Janne Warman (keyboards; Warmen) joined in.
With their own money, the band recorded their debut album "Something Wild" in 1997, blending elements of speed, death and power metal. The album impressed Spinefarm Records so much that they decided to sign the band. Inearthed changed its name to Children of Bodom (named after a notorious mass murdering that occured at Lake Bodom just outside of Helsinki in 1960) in order to get out of their previous contract with a Belgian label. Children of Bodom got a licensing deal with Nuclear Blast to handle releases to the rest of Europe.
Alexander left the band in July 2003, leaving fans in shock as the band had said that they would quit if one of its members left. But Alexi said "Children of Bodom ain't ready to fucking die yet!" as they recruited Alexi's fellow Sinergy guitarist, Roope Latvala (Walhalla, ex-Stone, To/Die/For, Waltari). After ruling Europe, Children of Bodom began to take over North America with their first ever North American tour with Dimmu Borgir in late 2003.

Mustaine's Smaller Gigantour Returns Strongly
The Bell Center is a pretty good venue in terms of size and sound quality, but for those of us who weren’t able to buy ground tickets before they sold out, the seats were a bit lame. I don’t want to complain, but the bands were really far away – you try headbanging from the stands with five inches of standing room without bashing into the people standing nearly on top of you.
On the other hand, the people-watching in the large arena was excellent, particularly because Megadeth tends to draw metal fans as well as metalheads. By this, I refer to the hordes of young teenage boys flocking to the over-priced merchandise stands to don $40 Megadeth tees as their girlfriends went about in whatever Hot Topic is peddling to the angsty-girl demographic these days. On the opposite end of the spectrum, overweight middle-aged men guzzled down expensive beer and sat in their seats looking bewildered until Megadeth came on. Before I become too disparaging of the crowd, however, I am compelled to note that the enormous pit where people are typically embroiled in hockey battling looked like a great deal of fun from where I was sitting. Spinefarm Records UK has 150 tickets to give away for Children of Bodom's performance at this year's June 16 Golden Gods Awards. You can enter by filling out the form on Spinefarm’s website. Winners will be notified two weeks prior to the event.
In Flames Checks In From Gigantour
In Flames, who are currently performing on the Gigantour with Megadeth, Children Of Bodom, High On Fire and Job For A Cowboy, have posted the following message:
“We have now done NEARLY half of the tour and so far things are going great. It feels really good to be out playing live again and to, finally, be able to play the new songs for you all. Hope you who have seen the shows enjoyed it as much as we have!

See you soon for more shows around the globe.”
Children Of Bodom Re-Issues To Include Bonus Music
Scythes-Of-Bodom.com, The Ultimate CHILDREN OF BODOM Hate Crew Fanpage, reports:
"Blooddrunk hit charts in high positions in many countries. As expected the album hit the pole position of the charts in Finland (where it already sold Gold). In Japan the album charted at #2, in Sweden at #8 and in Germany it reached #10. More world wide chart positions will be announced in the next days.
There are some new release dates on the Spinefarm website regarding Children Of Bodom. On April 30th Something Wild, Hatebreeder, Follow The Reaper, as well as the live album Tokyo Warhearts will be re-released as 2008-editions.
The three studio albums will contain the known songs + the following bonus material:
Something Wild: 'Children Of Bodom' (original single version) - bonus track, 'Mass Hypnosis' (SEPULTURA cover) - bonus track, 'Deadnight Warrior' - enhanced video.
Hatebreeder: 'No Commands' (STONE cover) - bonus track, 'Aces High' (IRON MAIDEN cover) - bonus track, 'Downfall' - enhanced video, not yet confirmed).
Follow The Reaper: 'Hate Me!' (original single version) - bonus track, 'Hellion' (W.A.S.P. cover) bonus track, 'Every Time I Die' - enhanced video.
Via this way, the two early and rare recordings of the songs 'Children Of Bodom' and 'Hate Me!' will be re-released as well because these songs were only released on their singles and on some compilations. Spinefarm could have also re-released the first and very rare recording of 'Towards Dead End' on the Hatebreeder 2008-edition but probably they just forgot it.
Also, there will actually be a 'Hellhounds On My Trail' single, which will come out in June. At the same time, the video of the song will be officially released. It's not yet clear what song will be used as b-side but most likely it could be the SUICIDAL TENDENCIES cover 'War Inside My Head', the fourth cover song that was recorded during the Blooddrunk recordings."

The CD was released in North America on April 15 via Spinefarm/Fontana International.

Children Of Bodom Bassist Discusses Download Gig
CHILDREN OF BODOM will perform at this year's Download festival, set to take place the weekend of June 13-15 at Donington Park, Leicestershire, UK. Although the Finnish outfit has been approached about the event a number of times in the past, a consistently tight schedule has never made it possible for them to take up the offer. Until now.
Says bassist Henkka T. Blacksmith: "We've been aware of the Download festival for a number of years now, but our touring & recording schedule has meant that we've just never been available at the right time. However, with the campaign for our new album, 'Blooddrunk', we plotted everything out well in advance, so if the offer to appear should come our way, we'd be ready... and we're delighted to say that it has! And we ARE! You know, it's a great pleasure for us to be involved with an event that has such an incredible history. Back in the early '80s, the Castle Donington festival was a truly ground-breaking event, one that every band dreamed of playing, and now in 2008 it's our turn to make a bit of history. See you down the front... then in the bar!"
Also scheduled to appear at Download are KISS, LOSTPROPHETS, THE OFFSPRING, JUDAS PRIEST, MOTÖRHEAD, RISE AGAINST, HIM, ALTER BRIDGE, DISTURBED, IN FLAMES and INCUBUS, among others.
In other news, June will see the reissue of the first four CHILDREN OF BODOM albums: "Something Wild" (1997), "Hatebreeder" (1999), "Tokyo Warhearts" (1999 – recorded live in Japan) and "Follow The Reaper" (2000), an album produced by noted musician and performer Peter Tägtgren, who recently rejoined forces with the band for parts of the recording of forthcoming CD, "Blooddrunk".
