Kamelot has issued the following announcement about the music video for "The Great Pandemonium" appearing on Headbanger's Ball:
"Kamelot’s first video for the song 'The Great Pandemonium' will debut on Headbanger’s Ball this Monday, September 13, 2010! The track is taken from the band’s new release 'Poetry For The Poisoned,' which is now available in Europe.
"It will hit shelves in North America on September 14, 2010. If you’re not able to catch the original airing don’t forget you can catch the show in the web located at this location."
Kamelot had previously announced the band would be recruiting Michael from Circus Maximus to fill in for Kamelot vocalist Roy, who has fallen ill, during the band's upcoming North American tour. Kamelot has now issued the following update about postponing the tour instead:
"Hi Kamelot Nation. As many of you know, Roy has fallen ill and could not make the North American tour. We have been rehearsing like madmen here in Tampa -- the band is tighter than ever and Michael from Circus Maximus is truly an amazing singer; if there is one male vocalist in this world who is on par with Roy, it is Michael! However, after today's rehearsal, we all decided that we do not feel right about doing the North American tour as anything less than a 100% Kamelot Experience.
"We appreciate that many fans have waited more than 2 years for new material and to see us perform together. Our new album, 'Poetry for the Poisoned' represents a labor of love from us, and to present it at anything less than full strength seems a disservice to all involved. Though we will suffer financial losses on this late hour cancellation, we still feel it’s the right decision for us as a band to make – we regret disappointing all those who worked so hard to shape this tour, and especially those fans who were still so willing to come through and support us despite Roy’s absence. We are humbled by that type of support, and we sincerely hope that our return in full form Kamelot strength will be more reward for your unwavering loyalty!
"We will reschedule all shows in the near future, once Roy is able to return. Refunds can be obtained at the point of purchase. To thank Michael for his effort, the band will still appear at the soldout Progpower Festival, as a one off show with him and many special guest singers from the festival. Again, we want to thank all of you for your amazing support!!"
Norway's Circus Maximus has checked in with the following update about pushing back the band's new album and vocalist Michael Eriksen joining Kamelot on tour:
"The recording of the new album has been set back a couple months, but we can assure you it will be worth the wait! We have really taken it farther both musically and lyrically than before. We are extremely excited with this one. As soon as we start the recordings we will bring you weekly updates with teasers, interviews and videos from the studios.
"Mike has just traveled over the pond for the Kamelot's 'Pandemonium Over North America Tour 2010.' As Roy Khan has become ill Mike has on short notice agreed to fill in for him to make this tour a reality. Filling in for such a great performer and singer from a band with so many dedicated fans is a huge thing. Mike is extremely humble and honored to be a part of this. We wish Roy all the best and quick recovery."
Kamelot has issued the following announcement about vocalist Roy Khan falling ill and missing the band's upcoming tour dates:
"Hello Kamelot Nation, the band and crew are all here in Tampa rehearsing for the tour – Visas have been cleared and the guys are in good spirits and ready to party with all of you. However, during rehearsals, Roy became severely ill. Due to this, as yet undiagnosed, illness, Roy reluctantly has been forced to head back home to Norway. He is currently under his physician’s care, but unfortunately these circumstances will prevent him from joining us on the North American concert tour. Of course, we want Roy to take care of his health as priority one for now and for the future.
"After much consideration on how to proceed, all of us in Kamelot feel strongly about keeping our commitment to our fans, promoters, and support bands on this tour! We are all ready and excited about playing these shows, we have flown in people from around the world to be apart of it and it has been in the works over a year! Therefore, we are working diligently with a fantastic singer willing to step in at the eleventh hour in order to make this tour a reality – our good friend Michael from Circus Maximus (Norway) has agreed to fill in for Roy! And we are excited to announce a special guest: Swedish vocalist Elize Ryd from Amaranthe will be joining the band on the North American Tour. She will also be part of the VIP meet and greet! Elize toured with us on our Summer Pandemonium Tour and also the European tour earlier this Spring.
"Also as a special thank you to our North American fans, our friends at ESP guitars have donated a beautiful ESP guitar which will be signed by Thomas Youngblood and given away at the end of our North American tour – this contest is open only to North American tour concert goers. Fans can enter for a chance to win this exclusive item by signing up in the designated area at each show! More surprises are in store at many shows including special guest appearances and more." KAMELOT has unveiled the cover artwork for their 9th studio album, "Poetry For The Poisoned."
The artwork was created by Seth Siro Anton. He sums up his experience in working on "Poetry For The Poisoned," “It was a great challenge for me as an artist to visualize the music of this new KAMELOT masterpiece. Really difficult, as I had to combine a Fine Art aesthetic and technique blended with a really dark, melancholic, poisoned atmosphere. I am really satisfied with the final result; it’s definitely the darkest artwork for KAMELOT so far…. A sweet poison for the eyes that successfully addresses their new poetry of music.”
Frontman Roy Khan assures that Poetry For The Poisoned will both please the band’s existing following and expose the universe of KAMELOT to a whole range of new fans. “Poetry For The Poisoned is our longest and toughest production so far, but when I hear the result I know it was well worth the struggle,” he says.
