Album Update From Kamelot Guitarist
Kamelot guitarist Thomas Youngblood has posted this studio update at the band's official website:
Hello all,
We are nearing the end of our visit to Germany and we are very, very pleased with the sessions. Khan has once again surpassed himself and the vocals are killer! Guitars are quite killer if I do say so myself ;) We are planning some very special appearances on the album but I cannot reveal anymore details yet. We also had a great meeting with SPV Records in Hannover and the plans for the release and World Tour are right on schedule. Some more titles for ya; 'Pride', and a beautiful piano ballad titled 'Abandoned'. We are planning the orchestral players for this one now.
Back soon! Thomas

A Japanese tour will likely take place in December, to be followed by a European trek beginning in January 2005.
Kamelot: New Album Is Going To Be Bad-Ass
Florida-based power metallers Kamelot have entered the studio to begin recording the follow-up to last year's "Epica", tentatively due before the end of the year through SPV Records. The following is the latest studio report from drummer Casey Grillo:
"Hey everyone, WOW, it’s been a crazy week! Lots of grueling work recording drums….. My day goes so quick. First thing I do after waking up is call [guitarist] Thom [Youngblood] and talk about the next song I will be recording that day. Also to see what he thinks about the last song I recorded. If everything is fine with the last song. I go out in to my studio, turn all the equipment on and check to make sure everything is working. So many things to keep up with when recording drums (about 12 to 14 microphones!) My job as a drummer is to also tune the drums, change drumheads and put tape around my blisters. Also funny how my job as a 'Recording Engineer' is to make sure the drummer has tuned his drums, changed the drum heads and to put tape around his poor little blisters so he doesn’t complain about them later.
So far the drum recording has been going great! All the song are sounding extremely heavy. I’ve recorded a few songs now and I can tell you this Kamelot album is gonna be bad-ass."
Kamelot Start Recording Next Album
Kamelot drummer Casey Grillo has entered the studio this week, kicking off the recording for the next album, according to the band's official website.
In addition, guitarist Thomas Youngblood posted this message:
"Hello All!
Sorry I have not been around to post anything lately, we have been very, very busy with the new album. Its going great and better than I expected. I am usually very critical at this point but the songs, the artwork, the story, everything is falling into place just right. Tomorrow I will go to see Casey in the studio in Tampa, a few miles from my home in Florida. We will go over the drums parts and take some photos for the site. As some of you know Casey is also a great engineer, he has his own studio and this makes things much easier for us. The sound is very fat and heavy. I will return to Germany in a few weeks for the final guitars, vocals and choir parts. Overall the production has a heavier sound along with the darker subject matter of the lyrics. I am loving it TBH. OK, keep up the good Karma amongst all of us. We need it in these troubled times!
Cheers - Thomas"
Savatage Unites To Headline ProgPower V
Current and former members of Savatage will unite for one night only to headline ProgPower V this September in Atlanta.
The festival, which will be held September 17 and 18 at Earthlink Live, will feature Jon Oliva, Zak Stevens, Chris Caffery, and Steve "Dr. Kill Drums" Wacholz performing a set from Savatage's entire discography in an exclusive performance. In addition to the full set, fans can expect a sneak preview of Jon Oliva's "Tage Mahal."
"I'm really excited about this show," said Stevens. "The last time I did a full show with these guys was at the PopComm Festival in Germany 1999. I've been waiting for the right time for us to get together. That time has come and where better than the ProgPower festival?" More...
