Kamelot Signs with earMUSIC, New Album Details

earMUSIC, the international rock label of the Hamburg-based entertainment group Edel, has announced the signing of American/Norwegian melodic metallers Kamelot. The band's new studio album, "Poetry For The Poisoned," will be released in Europe on September 3, 2010.

"I think this album is by far our most diverse, fusing new ideas and elements along with the traditional Kamelot sound and style that we have established over the years," states Kamelot guitarist Thomas Youngblood.

"Poetry for the Poisoned" was mostly written in the remote woods of Norway to the final songwriting sessions in a remote region of Germany. Recordings took place in the familiar Gate Studios in Wolfsburg, Germany with producers Sascha Paeth and Miro. Additional tracking also took place in Tampa, Florida as well as various studios in Sweden, Greece and the U.S.

"Poetry for the Poisoned" features guest appearances by Simone Simons (Epica), Gus G. (Ozzy Osbourne, Firewind), Björn "Speed" Strid (Soilwork) and Jon Oliva (Savatage, Jon Oliva's Pain). The artwork was created by many great artists, including Seth Siro Anton, Natalie Shau and Michal Loranc.

"'Poetry for the Poisoned' is a mix of progressive elements, modern rock, dark arts and also power metal," states Youngblood. "It comes at a time where many people around the world are searching for something to grab on to spiritually, including myself. I recently lost my mother and to be honest it was very hard on me. So there are some melancholy moods reflected on this album."

Frontman Roy Khan assures that "Poetry for the Poisoned" will both please the band's existing following and expose the universe of Kamelot to a whole range of new fans. "'Poetry for the Poisoned' is our longest and toughest production so far, but when I hear the result I know it was well worth the struggle," he says.

Max Vaccaro, director of the earMUSIC label, commented: "If there is one thing that is absolutely clear with Kamelot, it's that the band has a unique vision of metal and they consider anything they do as the 'next step' to something bigger and better, constantly adamant to reach new ambitious artistic targets. We're happy about the fact that they have chosen earMUSIC as the partner to expand their audience with this new wonderful album."

"Poetry For The Poisoned" will also be available as a limited edition hard-cover digipak CD with a bonus DVD, LP and limited collector's edition featuring a bonus 45" vinyl with two rare songs only available on this strictly limited format, personally signed by the band.

Kamelot recently tapped Swedish director Owe Lingvall of Village Road Films for the video shoot and production of the song "The Great Pandemonium". The track, which was performed on the band's recently completed European tour, will appear on "Poetry For The Poisoned". Other songtitles set to appear on the effort include "House On A Hill"and "Hunters Season", the latter of which was also performed on the band's recently completed European headlining tour.

Kamelot recently inked a deal with Marquee/Avalon Records for the Japanese release of its next album. The plans for the North American release will be announced in the near future.

Amaranthe Posts New Tour Blog

Amaranthe has posted another tour blog online through Crank It Up about their tour dates with Kamelot:

"Hey folks! Olof here again with our second and final tour blog, from the Scandinavian leg of the Kamelot tour! Recently got back home, and what can I say, what a tour! To continue where we left off in the first blog; Tampere was great, very receptive audience, and there were also some dedicated Kamelot/Amaranthe fans who attended the Helsinki show who also showed up for this gig - you guys kick ass, you know who you are! To celebrate another great show, we headed downtown, to a cozy bar, where we ended up hanging out with a ladies' floor hockey team who had just won the Finnish championship, so the mood was great!

"After another really weird trip on the finlandsfärja (boat from/to Finland/Sweden), with lots of strange and crazy people, plus a long drive from Stockholm to Oslo, we found ourselves in the norwegian capital! We all had a pretty chill off day, walking around in Oslo and later checking out the Kamelot show, at the magnificent Sentrum Scene - while feeling pretty damn excited about playing there the day after. If you haven't seen a Kamelot show at that venue, then you have no idea. More...

Amaranthe Posts Tour Blog

Amaranthe has posted the following new tour blog online through Crank It Up about their current tour dates with Kamelot:

"Hey all, Olof from Amaranthe checking in from Tampere Finland, in the middle of our Scandinavian tour with Kamelot. This is mainly a swedish site, but I will keep it in English for our international readers. This is Amaranthe's first ever tour, and it couldn't really have gone better so far! We started out in our hometown of Gothenburg, playing a packed Trädgårn, not bad for our second gig ever! Our clean singers, Jake and Elize have been out on the road for more than two weeks with Kamelot, and after seeing them perform on big stages together with Kamelot, it was nice to finally to join them on the trek!

"To kick things off properly we ended the first night by bringing the Kamelot dudes to our favourite local bar, Rockbaren. After a late night and an early morning plus some travleing we found ourselves in the very awesome venue Tyrol in Stockholm, constructed to imitate the interior of an alp cabin - but an alp cabin that can fit 1500 people :)

"Stockholm crowd was great as well, and it's quite fun to see the look on people's faces as we take on the stage and more and more singers walks on. At this point we are unknown to most people, and we are all really enjoying convincing people that Amaranthe is the best thing since sliced bread - you don't really get anything for free, but it makes it all the more exciting when you finally get that crowd roaring. Also here we had a pretty awesome after party at the classic rockbar Anchor bar, after being picked up in style with a long white limousine, cheers to the Holmqvist brothers from Djurgården hockey team for that! Icarus Witch Welcomes New Vocalist

Pittsburgh melodic metal band ICARUS WITCH has announced a change in their lead vocalist. In a statement from the band's official site they explained the situation:

"We are excited to announce yet another massive shift in our ranks as we welcome new vocalist Christopher Shaner to the ICARUS WITCH circle and part ways amicably with original vocalist, Matthew Bizilia. Matthew's contributions to the band have been immeasurable over the past six years. While this was a serious decision for both parties, professional differences of opinion led to the change. Bizilia is a phenomenal talent who will always be a part of the Witch family as we wish him much success on his future ventures."

Incoming vocalist and Erie, Pennsylvania native Shaner is a long time friend and collaborator of guitarist Quinn Lukas. Before Quinn moved to Pittsburgh to join ICARUS WITCH in 2006, he had worked on various musical projects with the singer. Much like the recent acquisition of second guitarist Ed Skero, the choice to add Christopher to the band was based on a combination of what he brings to the lineup personally, musically and professionally. His powerful vocal range, sense of harmony and intense work ethic are a perfect fit for the next phase of this band. Writing for the follow-up to Draw Down The Moon has already commenced with the new recruits and it promises to be the band's most diverse, melodic and epic release ever. More...
