Soulfly Kicks Off Tour October 6th

Metal legend Max Cavalera created a massive buzz earlier this year after hinting about Soulfly's North American Point Blank tour, and now the wait is over. Soulfly will begin the highly-anticipated tour this Friday, October 6th in San Diego, CA. Each night on the tour, the iconic top-charting band - featuring Max Cavalera on vocals and guitar, Mike Leon on bass and backing vocals, renowned guitarist Marc Rizzo on leads, and Zyon Cavalera (also of support group Lody Kong) on drums and percussion - will perform Nailbomb's classic full-length album, "Point Blank," in full.

Nailbomb was an industrial-influenced thrash metal project established by Max Cavalera and Alex Newport of Fudge Tunnel in the early 1990's. "Point Blank" is its only release and features guest performances by Iggor Cavalera, Fear Factory's Dino Cazares, and others. The album has remained an underground favorite of heavy metal fans since its release, and as expected, the original announcement of this tour stirred up a frenzy. These performances will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for all - don't miss this tour!

Tickets can be purchased via individual venues. Support on the tour will feature Cannabis Corpse (October 6-24), Harms Way (October 28-Nov. 8), Noisem and Lody Kong (which, as stated above, features Zyon Cavalera in addition to Igor Cavalera, Jr.). See below for a full listing of tour dates:

Comments the band's vocalist/bassist Phil Hall (also Municipal Waste, Iron Reagan): "At long last Cannabis Corpse has come out of its weed induced slumber to bring all y’all head bangers out there a new slab of brutal Death metal. This time around we decided to give our new guitarist Ray Suhy a lot more room to add his own unique flavor to the song writing and riffs. Berserker III Band Lineup Announced

This March, the Masonic Temple in Detroit, Michigan will play host to the annual Berserker Music Fest.

Now in its third year, the event - a truly DIY affair founded and organized by Child Bite frontman Shawn Knight and wife Veronica - Berskerer III boasts its most devouring lineups to date with the all-ages three-night/three-stage gala.

Appearances will be made by internationally touring acts like Voivod, Ghoul, Conan, Macabre, Cannabis Corpse and Black Tusk as well as a spattering of new and established Michigan-based artists like Acid Witch, Child Bite, Perversion and Shit Life.

Comments Knight, "It's a fucking blast putting this thing together. Veronica and I pick all of the bands and organize the entire weekend. I handle all of the art and a lot of the promotion side too. It's a metric shit ton of work and it's really stressful, but in the end it's all worth it. We're basically just making something that we wish was already had; a bit of the ol' 'if you build it, they will come.' I spent a lot of time at various metal fests last year, either playing them with Child Bite or simply attending them. It's great to see what works, what doesn't, and just in general let it affect how we plan our next event. This is our biggest lineup yet, and our biggest venue, so I can't wait to see how it all turns out!"

Sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon, VGKids, ESP Printing, UHF Records, CJAM 99.1 FM and Woodward Avenue Brewers, Berserker III will take place on March 3rd, 4th, and 5th with a special FREE PreSerker kickoff party slated to take place at Small's (Hamtramck) on Wednesday, March 2nd featuring eight bands on two stages. Cannabis Corpse Blazes Down Austin, Texas

Austin punk hangout Red 7 hosted D.R.I. the night before, a band that coincidentally hugely influenced Municipal Waste. Although “Land Phil” Hall plays in Municipal Waste, it was his love for death metal, not crossover that brought him into Austin this night. This time he joined with his brother Josh “Hallhammer” Hall and new guitarist Brandon Ellis in support of the band’s latest full-length recording “From Wisdom To Baked" on an Austin stop that is part of a Metal Underground.com sponsored tour.

Before hearing songs of bud monsters and weed-induced murderous rampages, three opening bands sparked up the festivities. San Antonio brutal death squad Flesh Hoarder initiated the melee. The group was short two members due to it having taken on the show on short notice. Ryan Sylvie of Whore of Bethlehem filled in for Nick Moreno and the band played without guitarist Angel Tarin. It’s been a couple of years since Sylvie fronted Scattered Remains, but he was up to the task, as was the band. The group played a mix of slamming rhythms, guttural voices, quick cymbal strikes and down-tempo riffs in the vein of Immolation and Morbid Angel. Songs like “Ejaculating on the Faces of the Aborted” kept their set utterly offensive. More...
