Below is our complete Cannabis Corpse news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
After releasing the "Splatterhash" split with Ghoul (reviewed here), VA based death metal powerhouse Cannabis Corpse has completed recording a new album.
Titled "From Wisdom to Baked," this will be the first new album for the band on Season of Mist. "From Wisdom to Baked" will be released in North America on June 24th (June 20th worldwide), and further album details will be released shortly.
Formed by bassist Phil "LandPhil" Hall (of Municipal Waste / Iron Reagan fame) and his brother Josh "Hallhammer" Hall in 2006, Cannabis Corpse has made a name for itself with three full-length albums and relentless touring.
The band, rounded out by guitarist Brent Purgason (aka "Pustulus Maximus" of GWAR), has toured the world over with The Black Dahlia Murder, Revocation, Hate Eternal, Skeletonwitch, and more.
In honor of the upcoming Brainsqueeze II Fest, the Oakland-based Tankcrimes Records is pleased to offer up the "Have You Seen My Mind" compilation.
A FREE for all free-for-all, the mammoth collection features an exclusive re-recording of Municipal Waste's "Insurance Fraud" from the band's split with Crucial Unit, new hymns from The Shrine and Fucked Up, a remastered version of Final Conflict's "Crucifixion," a bonus tune from Obsessor, sexy numbers from Ghoul, Iron Reagan, BAT, Cannabis Corpse, a bonus bonus track for downloaders and more.
In celebration of the second edition of Brainsqueeze Fest, the enablers at Oakland-based Tankcrimes Records, in cooperation with Decibel Magazine, offers up a maniacally side-splitting new teaser video. Check it out below.
Elaborates fest founder/Tankcrimes big cheese Scotty Heath, "The reason it took me four years to have a second Brainsqueeze is because we didn't have a new and better idea for a second commercial, the first one was a fucking phenomenon. Then this great idea came along so I booked the gig. Created by the same team as before of Ross Sewage and Mark Reategui who actually work completely separate from each other. They fucking nailed it."
Set to commence April 18th and 19th at the Oakland Metro and April 20th at Eli's Mile High Club, which will include BBQ and an Andrei Bouzikov art show, the gargantuan Brainsqueeze gala features more than a dozen face-raping acts including Municipal Waste, Final Conflict, Ghoul and Negative Approach. Six Feet Under is currently preparing for a next round of tour dates in support of "Unborn." As previously announced, Decrepit Birth and Cannabis Corpse will be joining Six Feet Under on this tour. Additionally, up-and-coming act Dealey Plaza will open the show.
The tour begins July 10th in Houston, TX and VIP bundles are available now at this location. Bundles include: ticket to the show, Six Feet Under shirt, limited "Hell In July" poster, and a back stage pre-show hang with Chris Barnes.
Six Feet Under founder and vocalist Chris Barnes comments: "Hello, all you sick fucks! Just wanted to say hello and let all you maniacs know what we've got planned for this year. Six Feet Under is about to take to the road once again, starting this month on May 19 in Guadalajara, Mexico for the Heaven and Hell festival. We are very excited to be playing with such greats as Motorhead and Anthrax - two of my all time favorite bands! Also coming up, June 1st we will be in Memphis, TN for the Scion festival with Whitechapel and a whole bunch of other awesome bands, so that's going to be insane, as well. Then, in the middle of June, we will be heading over to Europe for three festival dates. One of which I'm really excited and can't wait to take the stage on: Hellfest in France!! Looking forward to it big time - that date is on June 23, which leads me up to the month of July with our headlining USA tour - Hell in July! Summer tours in the US are always a blast, and this one is set up for sheer devastation with opening bands Decrepit Birth, Cannabis Corpse and Dealey Plaza!
"I would just like to take this time to say and send a personal message to those in Denver, CO as well as Seattle, WA: to Whom it may concern, you may want to stock up and/or possibly grow twice as much cannabis as you have been… because once SFU and Cannabis Corpse roll into those towns, the sheer magnitude of smoking may - 1. Drain the cannabis supply of those two said cities or 2. Possibly cause low cloud formations. Fog lights should be used on all vehicles to and from the concert. More...

On Saturday night, January 7th, 2012, the metal community took another step in dealing with the tragic death of long-time GWAR guitarist Cory Smoot by holding the first of two events in a three-show schedule of shows designed to support the Smoot Family Foundation and honor the life of this prolific artist, who died of a heart attack this past November at the age of only 34.
Cory had played the role of Flattus Maximus in the world's most infamous band for eleven years, as well as participated in many side projects, while at the same time producing and engineering tons of records at his always busy Karma Studios. In doing so he had become a treasured part of the local and national metal scene, and they turned out in force to both events, opening their hearts to Cory's family in a completely selfless display of solidarity, respect, and generosity.
Cory's widow, Jaime, who is pregnant with Cory's child, had this message for the fans: "I want to sincerely thank ALL the friends and fans for their amazing donations and support!! Thanks to Eve and Brent for organizing the events, to the businesses that contributed raffle prizes, and to the venues and bands for making the shows awesome!! You guys made Cory, the baby and me very proud!" More...

Every band dreads touring in a snowstorm, and it can get dangerous. Metal Injection spoke with members of God Forbid, A Life Once Lost, Fight Amp, Black Tusk, DAATH, Last Chance To Reason, Howl, Magrudergrind, Cannabis Corpse, Obscura, Prime Evil, Rosetta, This Is Hell, and Ramming Speed about what the worst snowstorm they ever drove through was in the latest edition of the web show "Ask The Artist."
Phil "Landphil" Hall has announced on his Facebook page that Weedgrinder and Nikropolis have left Cannabis Corpse. The guitarist and co-founder of the group is looking to fill the void left by the guitarist and singer. Landphil writes:
"Yo Yo Cannabis corpse fans, Good news and bad news
"Bad news: 'Weedgrinder' and 'Nikropolis' have decided to leave Cannabis Corpse, We wish them luck on there future endeavors.
"Good news: Cannabis corpse will continue to play shows and put out killer death metal with a new line up, Interested Musicians contact us @ Landphilbass@hotmail.com"
The marijuana-themed death metal act recently finished a U.S. tour with All Shall Perish and The Black Dahlia Murder.
At the MetalSuckFest in New York City, Metal Injection asked members of A Life Once Lost, Fight Amp, Black Tusk, DAATH, Last Chance To Reason, Howl, Magrudergrind, Cannabis Corpse, Ultrageist, Obscura, Prime Evil, Rosetta, This Is Hell and Ramming Speed what the most metal gift they ever received was. Find out their answers in the video below. More...
The dark, dank halls of Red 7 summoned the youthful masses to see two leading groups of today’s breakdown-heavy metal scene. Speaking of dank, weed grinding death metallers, Cannabis Corpse complimented The Black Dahlia’s core-meets-death sound with a more traditional, Florida death metal offering. Although Red 7 didn’t overcrowd the bill with locals—The Black Dahlia Murder, All Shall Perish and Cannabis Corpse were afforded long set times—a lone local band warmed up the PA system. I didn’t catch this group’s name nor can I “breakdown” their performance. What I can say, though, is their bouncy, burlesque sound proved the ideal style for the night’s lime-lighted acts.
In the case of Red 7’s lighting system, the colored-coded adage listed above denotes strict figurative usage. Fluorescent light bulbs could have been a fitting source of light for Cannabis Corpse and equally illuminated the group. The stoners blazing blunts at the front of the stage meant even lesser light for photography. Those out of range from smelling the sweet leaf might have thought, “Wow, they’re using dry ice! Nice fog effect!” Rolling audio brutality into symmetrically shaped jibs, the Virginia-based band force-fed the crowd a meal of slamming grooves, katana-bladed guitar tones and slick bass solos.
Andy 'Weedgrinder' Horn pushed out screams owing to George Fisher’s vile-natured highs and Chris Barnes indecipherable lows. Instead of utilizing known fill-in words such Tom G. Warrior’s famous “Heeey” or Rob Zombies “Yeaaah,” Weedgrinder threw out quick, fitting phrases such as “get high.” Led by the Hall brothers--Municipal Waste bassist, Phil “Landphil” Hall and drummer Josh 'HallHammer' Hall, the quartet’s frenetic head banging super-charged Mary Jane horror film scenarios songs. “Blazing” through material from such Cannibal Corpse parodied albums as “Tubes of the Resonated” and “Blunted at Birth,” set highlights included “Sentenced to Burn One,” “Dead by Bong” and set closer “Skull Full of Bong Hits.” More...
