The Showdown has issued the following announcement about canceling their remaining tour dates with Impending Doom and Oh, Sleeper:
"To all our fans... We are truly sorry that we must drop off the Impending Doom/ Oh Sleeper tour. At the very last minute our drummer, Yogi, has had some serious family issues that need his attention. We were looking forward to tearing up the asphalt with friends from the bands as well as tearing riffs for our fans. We have kept a steady tour schedule all year long and plan to kick right back into it once our record is finished by February of next year. We appreciate all who have offered their support, thoughts, and prayers while Yogi goes through this tough time. See you back on the road in a few months."

All About The Music has posted a new blog featuring musicians describing the "guilty pleasure" bands they like outside of metal. Excerpts from the blog follow:
Dave Davidson (Revocation) – “One of my guiltiest pleasures would probably be Fall Out Boy. Not really a fan of their older stuff but the last couple of records they've put out were awesome. Phil's guilty pleasure is probably Boys 2 Men, he will straight up sing that CD from front to back when he’s drunk and it always brings the laughs. Anthony is also into a lot of pop, right now I think he's on a Lady Gaga kick.”
Micah Kinard (Oh, Sleeper/Violent Lighting/Steadfast Modesty Clothing) – “My guilty pleasure band is Flickerstick. Haha, though that is not necessarily the most random thing you will find on my iPod. I also LOVE Fiona Apple and Sarah McLachlan, but I rep them proudly. haha.”
Gabriel Luis (Fallen Martyr) – “Muse and Radiohead. 2 amazing bands. What I like about them the most is that they are progressive music; they do and sound how they want. And that’s a pretty metal thing to do. Also, Radiohead is pretty strange. Strange bands are always awesome. 3 6 Mafia and Project Pat. I like rap, and sometimes I gotta listen to something else other then metal. I also find that it’s better to write new material when listening to music that is very unlike the style you play. You can pick up inspiration from anything if you really just have an open mind.”

Ft. Worth, Texas outfit Oh, Sleeper (Solid State Records) will soon be without drummer Ryan Conley, who has announced his departure from the band. Here's a statement from Conley:
"There has been some very big decisions made regarding the future of the band and I wanted to let everyone know the new developments before rumors start circulating. First of all, I have decided to step down from my position in Oh, Sleeper, this has been something that's been in the works for a long-time and I'm very happy to say that my relationship with everyone in the band is just as its always been. I love my brothers in OS and will always cherish my time with them and the band. We have had some wonderful fights, held each other together through tradgedy and heartbreak and I've had my 4 best friends for nearly anything that might have come up in my life. We've worked together as a team and I've got no regrets for the long hours that we've all put in together. Music/touring has been what I've done since I was 12 years old and I'm so happy to have been able to tour with all my favorite bands and be apart of a record that is motivating and inspiring. I've never wanted to do anything that was a waste of time and I can honestly say that I feel we put out a record that helped kids push through problems and gave them strength and perseverence.
"Given that this is probably my last time to be able to impact people in this way so I wanted to leave everyone with a few words: We believe in all of you, I believe you are all capable of great things and have it in you to accomplish what you set out to do. Whether that be college or highschool, getting through a divorce, kicking an addiction or pursuing a dream, we want you to know that OS is on your side and thats why we do what we do, WE believe in you and know that we're in the trenches with you, let's do this together, let's not survive, let's conquer, That's how we were made; to brave the waters and attach ourselves to something greater than what we know. Having that said, I want to be clear that my choice to leave is nothing more than a pressing interest and/or calling that requires 110% of my focus and have no other choice but to remove myself from the band. Our tour with Norma Jean and Haste the Day will be my last tour, please come out and tell me goodbye."
Norma Jean will headline "The Anti Mother Tour" presented by Solid State Records. The six-week nationwide U.S. tour with additional sponsorship from Hot Topic and Monster Energy Drink kicks off Friday, October 3 in Knoxville, TN and wraps Saturday, November 15 in the band's hometown of Atlanta, GA. Norma Jean will be joined by fellow labelmates Haste The Day, The Showdown, MyChildren MyBride, Children 18-:3 (October 3--October 26) and Oh, Sleeper (October 28--November 15).
Norma Jean's explosive fourth album, "The Anti Mother," was recently released Seattle indie Solid State, debuting at #29 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, with over 16,000 copies sold in the first week alone.
In other news, Norma Jean just shot a video for their debut single "Robots 3, Humans 0." The band picked Daniel Chestnut (Hurley Entertainment) to direct the conceptual video that delves into the song's themes of jealousy, confusion and rage. Expect to hear news of the video debut soon.

Being a huge Demon Hunter fan, I was excited to see who they had touring with them. Since I've only heard Living Sacrifice before, I had no idea what to expect with the other acts that were performing. More...
