I attended Ozzfest 2005 on Sunday, July 24 in Bristow, Virginia’s Nissan Pavilion (my report is running late, as I’ve found myself overcommitted lately). This fest was the tenth annual Ozzfest, and not to be outdone by last year’s excellent lineup, this year they sported an equally as good lineup spanning more genres of metal than before. This year’s lineup also contained numerous headliner-quality bands on both stages including, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Rob Zombie, Mudvayne, and of course Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath.
Had I known that both people I was supposed to go with would bail out, I would have lined up a photo pass for the whole show to give me something more to do. As it turned out, I pretty much just enjoyed the show and met up with As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis for an interview that we missed in Philadelphia, PA.
While this year’s lineup sported mostly bands I knew and had heard, most I was only vaguely familiar with, so pardon the lack of specific details such as song names, etc. in many cases. More...
Testament frontman Chuck Billy joined Soilwork on stage at the at the August 13 Ozzfest stop in Mountain View, CA for a "memorable" rendition of the track "Follow the Hollow" from Soilwork's fourth album, "Natural Born Chaos." Pictures are found on the Nuclear Blast MySpace page under the blog entry titled "Behind/On the scenes on OZZfest with SOILWORK!!!!!!!!!".

Soilwork frontman, Björn "Speed" Strid, has posted this update on the band's official website:
Hi! What's up people!
We're playing an off show in Louisville with Killswitch and As i lay dying today. We've only done 2 off shows so far but both of them was really awesome! There seem to be a lot of people who hasn't seen us yet and really dig the shows, cool!!
Apparently there's been some fuck up with the video for "Nerve," some people may have seen the "Rejection Role" video presented as "Nerve" which of course is wrong! It's all taken care of now you'll get the right one anytime soon..
Hey Matt, I really wanna appologize to you for that misunderstanding in Columbus, i would never do such a thing as ignoring the fans, you can ask just anyone and they would tell you the same. It was all a misunderstanding, i didn't hear what you said (i'm pretty bad understanding fast american language sometimes actually) and got confused and there was another guy waiting in line who wanted stuff to be signed. So sorry once again and i would be more than glad to grab a beer with you some other time and i'll show you that i'm not a fucking guy with a rockstar attitude!
I big hail goes out to the crazy people coming out to the recent shows, we're having a blast everyday!! See you in Lousville tonight!
All my best, Speed
I attended Ozzfest 2005 this year on one of the most disgustingly hot and humid days of the year. It was July 19th, at the Tweeter Center in Camden, NJ. The day was amazing and full of great bands and other then the ferocious heat it was a great day. More...
Soilwork frontman, Björn "Speed" Strid, has posted an Ozzfest update on the band's official website:
I will excuse myself once again for not updating very frequently at the moment, the reason is that it's very hard to get a wireless connection here at Ozzfest. Finally today at Chicago Tweeter center i've got a connection in the corridors by the main stage. Actually as we speak, Mr.Bruce Dickinson is taping up "Happy Birthday" tape on the walls, above me and my wife's head as we're sitting down and checking our e-mails on the floor in the corridor... Talked to him for a while, he is a really cool guy!!
I really wanna thank all the people for coming out to the shows, we've had a blast so far and we eally don't mind getting up that early in the mornings. Every morning you're there rocking out, you guys are the best!!!
We'll see ya soon!!

It came to our knowledge yesterday that our drummer Dirk Verbeuren can't make it to the show since he's playing a festival in Finland (Tuska Open Air) with his other band SCARVE and somehow his flight got cancelled and there was no other flights available that day … This really sucks and we really want to appologize for this, especially for such short notice..

Just want to post some more small updates before we leave for Ozzfest on monday...
Just came home from a party with our dear bassplayer Mr. Flink, had a blast watching Iron Maiden live on swedish national tv (prime time) from the biggest stadium in Sweden, that was fucking great!!
Anyways, if you didn't know aleady, the video of the song "Nerve" will soon reach your tv:s. We recorded the video in Hollyood at a filmsite rental during our headline tour in april. And the big question: Is the whole band in the video this time? Hell yess! Don't worry, my ugly face is not alone this time... Unfortunately some people got the Stabbing the drama video totally wrong and thought that i'd been converted to some pathetic Fred Durst guy and there's been a lot of talk on the forums if it was my decision and will to be alone in the video.. i tell you, you don't know me.. All we did was to make everything as flexible as possible since Peter moved to the states when we where recording the video, so it was the directors idea to build a story around one person, sure it didn't work out very good since the director didn't kept what he promised with my movements with my arms in the video that was supposed to be turned into "matrix effects".. bummer.. i still believe i did what i could in that video (i tell you, it's goddamn hard being totally alone in a video when you're used to be with a six piece band, you should try it sometime!) . I still like the colours in the video but just as you guys i wish the whole band was in that video but this was impossible at that time... So to you guys who believe i'm trying go solo with this band and adapting some kind of rapper attitude , fuck off and watch the next video of Nerve instead , it's great!! I'll see you very soon my friends!
Best regards, Speed
Soilwork frontman Speed has posted the following message on the band's official website:
I know that there´s been a lot of people asking when we´ll do the next european tour.. Well, all i can say that the tour is shaping up right now and will start sometime in the very beginning of October and last until the end of October. I can assure you that we´ll bring some other cool bands with us as well, the bill´s gonna be great!! As for australian/southamerican/japanese tours we´re still waiting for confirmations.. We usually do Japan and Australia as a "combo" and it looks like it will happen in the end of this year.. and Southamerica, don´t worry we´ll make sure we cover up your beautiful continent for this album as well!! Stay Tune!
Soilwork frontman Speed has checked in with the following update:
I´ve just come home from Germany. Been very busy lately, first the recording of Terror 2000 and then the recording with Thomen from Blind Guardian and as you probably know we have done festivals in between with Soilwork at Graspop and Furyfest. Both of the festivals were fucking amazing, a lot of people and great respone! A big thanx to all the people who made it a memorable experience! Had the chance to check out some good bands as well, i saw Slayer from stage (man, Mr.Lombardo is in amazing shape, fucking great!!), I saw a few songs with System of a down which was also very cool.. I also had the chance to talk to the guys from Mastodon, really nice guys! Later that evening i got pretty shitfaced and hooked up with the drummer from Mastodon and we sung some falsetto King Diamond hits from the Abigail album, i tell you the drummer has a pretty descent falsetto he he.. Anyways, Ozzfest is around the corner, just ten days until we´re heading off to the states... Can´t wait to start doing the rock n roll circus.. I can assure you that we´ll blow your minds away, we have selected the perfect 20 min set for you guys (it was really hard though..) To me it seems like a perfect mix...I´ll talk to ya soon..take care!!
All my best, Speed

Soilwork frontman Speed has checked in with the following update:
I'm so sorry i haven't posted anything in a while..
I've been recording the vocals for the new Terror 2000 album. We've had so much fuckin' fun in the studio here in Helsingborg.. we decided to take thrash metal to where it never has been before and have no boundaries of what a thrash metal album should or shouldn't contain.. So, it's all in there folks: This album is gonna be the most hilarious, intense, brainless, aggressive, silly, fast, immature and nervewrecking album you ever heard! An example: a thrash metal blues in 285 bpm called "Bloody blues blaster"... stay tune..
We're flying in to Amsterdam tomorrow and we'll play our first european gig for the new album at the Waldrock-festival, can't wait!
Right now we're also setting up a headlining tour in Europe for this fall.. hopefully we'll manage to cover the world before the year is over..
When we come home from Waldrock i'll get my ass over to the Sweden Rock festival and watch some M'y..
Anyways, we'll see you on stage on the festivals! Metal up your ass!
Terror 2000 is the Swedish thrash metal band featuring Speed (Soilwork), Klas Ideberg (Darkane), Nick Sword (El Mago), Erik Thyselius (Construcdead) and Dan Svensson (Hatelight).
