Darkane Recaps Soilwork Tour
Darkane has issued the following update:
"We're back in Sweden from what we believe was a very successful tour in North America together with Soilwork, Warbringer and Swallow the Sun. Thanks a lot to the other bands, crew and all the fans that showed up and made us feel welcome. Playing 50 shows in 52 days was kinda tough but we're very happy we managed to pull it through without any bigger issues. Now we are focusing on writing new material for the next album but before that we have a show at The Tivoli in our home town Helsingborg tomorrow (Saturday April 4th), and then we have the Roskilde festival and Nuclear Assault festival booked for this summer, and hopefully more will show up. Next week Peter Wildoer will head out on a European tour with Pestilence for three weeks."
"I am also very proud to announce that I am now officially endorsed by Steve Clayton guitar picks. I have been using Clayton pics (1.26 mm) since the middle of the nineties. Since Darkanes music is based on accurate playing I need a pick that feels steady and that I can count on when I hit my strings very hard. With the Clayton picks I get a very good and reliable grip allowing me to alter between fast and rhythmic playing without having to think about what my right hand is doing. See you out there!"
Soilwork To Cut Back On Touring
Guitarist Peter Wichers of Swedish metal band Soilwork recently did an interview with MetalSucks.net. When the topic of what effect family has on touring here's what he had to say:
"I've seen most of the guys in Darkane who all have kids. They are able to make this happen, so I don't see a reason why I won't be able to do that. I think that when I came back, we did talk a little bit about how we're going to do the touring in the future. I think everybody agrees that Soilwork might have done too many tours that probably they didn't have to do. I think that we're all in the same understanding that we're not going to do as much touring as we did before. We won't over-tour the records. That also made my decision a lot easier to make when I knew that that's what the guys wanted to do. A lot of the guys now are married and have wives and stuff. When I was in the band 4 years ago, everything was kind of up in the air a bit more. Since then a lot of people have settled down, and they have something to come back to at home instead of just spending a lot of time on the road."

Demonoid Issues Update
DEMONOID, the Swedish old-school death/thrash metal project featuring ex-THERION members Kristian Niemann (guitar) and Johan Niemann (bass) along with former SOILWORK / CHIMAIRA drummer Richard Evensand, and DARK FUNERAL's Caligula on vocals offers the following update:
"Updates have been few and far between the last couple of months and recording has been on hold because well....life sort of got in the way. The family moved in November and it took just about two months to get everything sorted and up and running again. I also had to start earning more money; meaning working more; meaning more time spent with guitar students and less on the new record. Not exactly what I had planned but you gotta do what you gotta do." More...
Darkane Issues Pre-tour Update
Guitarist Christofer Malmström of the Swedish metal band DARKANE has issued the following update:
"I realized that it's only 3.5 weeks left until we leave for our massive U.S. tour with SOILWORK, DAYLIGHT DIES, WARBRINGER and SWALLOW THE SUN. This tour will be interesting. We will play two shows, then have a day off, and then play like 35 days in a row without a break. I hope everyone will stay healthy because this will be rough. Then we have a day off again. All in all, we are going to play 50 shows in 52 days. 41 shows in the U.S. and nine in Canada. But the bottom line is that we are all looking forward to this VERY much!" More...

Soilwork Cancels French Shows
Soilwork has posted the following tour report online:
"Howdy y'all, here's a little Soilwork update straight from Bilbao, Spain. So far, this European Tour with ONE-WAY MIRROR and ANANTA has been a total blast, filled to the brim with sweat, beers and heavy-ass riffage. Here's a big HAIL to all of you who came out to see us so far! You rock!!!
"Alas, we also have some bad news. For reasons beyond our control, we're forced to cancel the last of our three French shows, initially in Lyon and recently moved to Luynes (Aix-En-Provence). We sincerely apologize to our French fans for this unfortunate situation, and we promise to come back for a full-fledged French tour as soon as we can.
"On another note, since Ananta have to leave us after the Swiss show next Saturday, we've added on some different opening bands wherever possible. For the four shows in Germany, the opener will be DEADLOCK and for the three shows in Sweden it will be SCARPOINT.
Cheers!"

Soilwork Vocalist Bjorn "Speed" Strid Checks In
Soilwork vocalist Bjorn "Speed" Strid has posted the following update online:
"As you might know, we're currently out on tour in Europe. I'm writing to you from Glasgow, Scotland. The rain has been just as unstoppable as the beer drinking on the tourbus, but today the sun is actually shining and everybody is in a great mood!
"We're now ten days into this European trek and things are going smoothly. Peter (Wichers) and Sylvain (Coudret) are tearing it up; I'm telling you people, they're a murderous guitar duo! Just you wait and see! Crowds have been great as well, noisy and roudy, just the way we like it! Luckily, my twisted flipper is back on track after falling into the drumkit while doing some of that old school pogo dancing on stage... However, my stage shirt is pink after a head-shaving accident right before the Birmingham show last night...
"Anyways, we're doing some tracks that we haven't played live in a very long time, and even some tracks that we've never played at all like 'Black Star Deceiver'. I gotta say it's working out really good! The only thing missing is DEVIN TOWNSEND doing his trade off vocals with me. I guess I'll just have to fly him to Europe... You there Devin? More...

Ex-Soilwork Guitarist Returns To The Band
Soilwork has announced that their former guitarist, Peter Wichers will be returning to the band. A statement from the group reads as follows:
“The past two years have been great although sometimes a bit turbulent. We made another killer album and did several amazing tours around the world; and today it is with sheer joy and excitement that we announce the return of Peter Wichers as a guitarist in SOILWORK. He’s been missed both as a bandmate and as a songwriter.
“We know that we can come back even stronger, and it definitely gives us a feeling of inspiration and completion to have Peter, one of the founders of SOILWORK, come back to the fold. We feel that we can look into the future with greater confidence and musical creativity. Having Peter back will complete the circle and the final line up of the band. More...
Warbringer Gives Finntroll Tour Report
Warbringer has issued the following tour report along with the announcement that they will be supporting Soilwork on their upcoming tour:
"So we're back in N. America touring the US and Canada with FINNTROLL. It was quite a rush as we flew directly in from Amsterdam (as Holland was our last European show with Sworn Enemy/All Shall Perish) into Philadelphia and had to get our butts down to Jaxx in Springfield the next day to start this tour. It was a bit chaotic but we want to thank everyone who responded to our post for a ride.
"This tour has been great! It feels good to be back home and playing in front of metal audiences and sharing a bus with the 'Trolls has been awesome. It's been some time since we played the US, as we pretty much spent all summer in Europe, and it's nice to feel the energy of the audience every night. Merch sales have been good too - thanks!
