Nachtmystium Album Delayed, Bassist Departing
NACHTMYSTIUM has posted the following blog on their MySpace site, giving an update on the recording of "Assassins" and announcing the departure and replacement of their current bassist of three years, Zion Meagher:
"First and foremost, we've completed tracking for our new record, "Assassins", to be released on Century Media in N. America and Candlelight Records in Europe. The record has been a complete success thus far, and we anticipate that mixing sessions (scheduled for the end of this month) will pull everything together for the next chapter in our black book of music. Expect more info, a finished track to be posted, and a release date soon! The original release date of April 1st, 2008 has been pushed back due to the delays in mixing.
"Unfortunately, we're sad to say that "Assassins" will stand as Zion Meagher's final work with Nachtmystium. Zion has parted ways with the Mystium to pursue his personal life and his own new musical project, Anti-Human Thesis. Our touring schedule was becoming very conflicting with his personal career outside of music and it was becoming more and more apparent that he was not going to be able to continue on with us as a full-time member, which this band is in desperate need of with our busy schedule we have planned for ourselves in the near future. We salute him for over 3 years of dedicated service, through thick and thin with this band, and we wish him all the best with his new project.
"We are proud to announce that Jon Necromancer (ex-USURPER / current KOMMANDANT) will be joining us as a session member on our European tour this May! Beyond this tour, however, there will be an active pursuit for a new, permanent bass player for Nachtmystium. We are currently preparing to hold auditions in the coming months. Interested parties, feel free to contact us. Extensive touring, and a full-time commitment is expected of any potential member, so if touring / traveling is out of the question for you, this is not the gig for you. 21+, must have your own (good) gear, a drivers license, valid passport, no criminal background, and the willingness to commit 100% to this project exclusively are a must. Serious applicants only."

Nachtmystium Back Catalog Re-issue On Candlelight
Nachtmystium have been dwelling within the U.S. black metal underground for a period of time in which this enigma have clearly spearheaded themselves as one of North America’s most prominent acts within the scene. Where in the beginning, we witnessed Nachtmystium portray a bleak sound-picture by incorporating the many facets that became synonymous with the brand of traditional, raw and primitive black metal that was surfacing from these shores, it was quite evident that the promise that such an act showed in its early stages, was just a mere warning of what was inevitably to come. Surely though, Nachtmystium have always shown their distinct histrionics on their interpretation on how they liked to portray their black metal art. Through morose and mournful hymns that displayed a scenario where sadness and hatred were the two dominating emotions that bled from band leader Azentrius’ instrument, this vision that he has conjured up many years ago, has reached it’s phoenix with the surfacing of the latest Nachtmystium observation, Instinct:Decay. With “outside” influences such as Pink Floyd (a prominent influential artist consistent within Nachtmystium's repertoire, Earth, and even Sunn0))) (an act with whom Nachtmystium have shared the stage), such influences that have been incorporated within the Nachtmystium sound have helped take this band’s sound to new levels and new perspectives respectively. Overall, Instinct:Decay will solidify Nachtmystium's position within the U.S. black metal elite alongside such black metal artists as Xasthur, Leviathan, Krieg, and Thralldom, artists with whom Nachtmystium share a comradeship, all while re-defining, and re-shaping, the future of black metal.
