Nachtmystium has issued the following statement about releasing a new split EP and gearing up to record a new album:
"The Nachtmystium / Murmur split 7" EP is officially released on Inferna Profundus Records, Lithuania!! Our track is a total return to form, harking back to the writing styles of 'Demise' and 'Instinct: Decay.'
"This is a good sneak peak of whats to come on our next full-length, which we intend to start recording in January / February, 2012 and will be released world-wide on Century Media Records. First 100 copies of this 7" EP come with a poster featuring artwork from the jacket. Support Inferna Profundus, a truly a killer underground label."
Nachtmystium To Perform "Instinct: Decay" Album
On Friday, April 13th Nachtmystium will be playing a very special show at Roadburn 2012's Voivod-curated Au-delà du Réel event. For the first and only time, Nachtmystium will play the landmark USBM album "Instinct: Decay" in its entirety.
When "Instinct: Decay" was released in 2006, branded as a psychedelic extreme metal record, it was met with deeply divided feedback - some highly laudatory and some derisive.
"Nachtmystium is extremely honored to be a part of Roadburn again," says Blake Judd, "The fact that we were picked by one our idols and perhaps the most forward thinking metal bands of all time, Voivod, makes it even more that extraordinary. We decided to do something hopefully just as equally special for everyone there. We'll be playing our album, Instinct: Decay, from start to finish. We hope you enjoy it."
For more information on the festival, please visit the official Roadburn website at this location.
Obscure Early Nachtmystium Recordings Unearthed
Nachtmystium has announced that they plan to re-release some recently unearthed old material. Here's the update from the band:
"Over the past few weeks, Nachtmystium has been going through the vaults of our old demo tape masters, rehearsal tapes from all eras of the band, finding versions of songs from all the full-lengths with completely different mixes, vocals, etc. It's all different and we're having a great time digging through all of this stuff and also finding ourselves rather surprised at how much of it is actually 'listenable'. So, we're going to compile a bunch of this stuff for you fans and find a way to release it digitally ourselves or perhaps stream the stuff at various host sites. We'll post here once we've finished compiling everything and have decided on how to release the material.
"There are also plans to compile all of the bonus tracks and compilation tracks from the 2000-2004 era (which includes our split 7" releases with Xasthur and Krieg, the demo version of 'Demise' track 'Ashes To Ashes,' which only appeared on the Live Blitzkireg LP release, etc.) and to release them on a CD or LP. We may take all of the above mentioned material and just release it all in a double LP set or some kind of collectors edition box set. Whatever it is, it will be limited as this is very much material that's geared towards the people who really get into the harsher area of the bands release history, which we realize is a much smaller audience than the ones we've reached with some of our more recent offerings. Keep an eye on the Nachtmystium facebook page here for updates on this ongoing project. Metal and Hellfire!"

Nachtmystium Announces Full-Time Bassist
Chicago black metal assassins Nachtmystium have officially announced their recently recruited full-time bassist, as they welcome Reid Raley of Rwake/Deadbird into the ranks of the band.
Over recent months guitarist/vocalist Blake Judd has recruited several other full-time members including lead guitarist Andrew Markuszewski (Avichi, Lord Mantis), drummer Charlie Fell (Lord Mantis, Avichi), and keyboard/synth engineer Sanford Parker (Minsk, Circle Of Animals), now solidifying the crew with the addition of Reid Raley on bass, making this the first "official lineup" for the band, ever.
Judd commented on Raley joining the band: "Nachtmystium, for the first time in the band's history as a full-time touring band, has a solid live lineup that matches the studio lineup. We intend to move forward and keep this group together indefinitely. It's taken 10 years to put together the perfect band, and now we've got it. So watch for us on the road starting in June and throughout the rest of the year! We anticipate that Reid's presence will not only bring a thunderous low-end onslaught on the live stage, but also will hopefully bring in some new elements into the writing of future Nachtmystium recordings."
You can read the full statement at Nachtmystium's Facebook page here.
You can catch the band's new full lineup over the Summer months, including a co-headlining spot at this year's Alehorn of Power Festival in Chicago June 11, a co-headlining spot at the Central Illinois Metalfest on July 23, and an appearance at Party.San Open Air Festival in Schlotheim, Germany on August 12. Upcoming confirmed shows are as follows:
6/11/2011 Alehorn Of Power Festival - Chicago, IL
7/23/2011 Central Illinois Metalfest - Urbana, IL
8/12/2011 Flugplatz Obermehler - Schlotheim, Germany @ Party San Festival
Further details on all ongoing endeavors of Nachtmystium will be unveiled over the coming weeks.
Nachtmystium Announces New Live Shows
The bastard sons of black metal in Nachtmystium have announced a string of random live attacks for the coming months, while they also devise the execution of their sixth full-length release. The latest plague of concerts begins with a hometown headlining gig, with support from Lord Mantis (containing two members of Nachtmystium), this Friday, May 6th in Chicago. The band's upcoming dates are as follows:
5/06/2011 Cobra Lounge - Chicago, IL w/ Lord Mantis, Defcon [info]
6/11/2011 Alehorn Of Power Festival - Chicago, IL [info]
7/23/2011 Central Illinois Metalfest - Urbana, IL [info]
8/12/2011 Flugplatz Obermehler - Schlotheim, Germany @ Party San Festival [info]
Since returning from a North American tour as direct support for Cradle of Filth in March, Nachmystium has been devising the band's next studio effort. As of now, little more about the album is being released, but according to vocalist Blake Judd this week: "The new record will have a very strong industrial influence in the vein of later-era Ministry, Revolting Cocks and Nine Inch Nails, but also a strong, depressive, old-school black metal influence." More details will be announced shortly.
In the meantime, Judd and Nachtmystium have confirmed several collaborations with infamous USBM horde Von. Two separate projects are currently underway which involve members of both bands. First up, Judd has been confirmed as one of a dozen notable artists set to collaborate with Von bassist Venien, on a project entitled Von Venien. The unit will release a 12" single entitled "Empire" via Von's own label Von Music Group. Following that, VMG will also unleash a split between Von and Nachtmystium via 12" MLP and CD, which will include both a new track as well as some Von homage from Nachtmystium. Full details on releases will be unveiled shortly.
The band's song "Nightfall" also recently made its way onto the Rock Band Network.

Triptykon To Play Party.San Festival
The organizers of the Party.San 2011 festival have issued the following announcement about more bands appearing on the bill:
"Raised from the ashes of Hellhammer and Celtic Frost by Tom Gabriel Fischer himself, PARTY.SAN 2011 is proud and honored to announce the addition of Triptykon to its expanding bill of bands. Hell literally broke loose with the release of the band's Eparistera Daimone debut. Pitch black and truly evil music for devoted fans of extreme metal.
"Gorguts from Canada recently joined the PARTY.SAN bill. A death metal dinosaur of sorts, the band formed in 1989 and, having survived a host of trends, tragedies and breakups, are still going strong today. Gorguts will present to you a technical and extremely furious death metal show you will never forget.
"Enslaved are easily among Norway’s finest bands. The progressive black/Viking metal ensemble has remained dark and innovative for their two-decade-long existence and will bring their monolithic blackness to the PARTY.SAN 2011 stage." More...

Leviathan's Jef Whitehead Charged With Battery
The Chicago Tribune has reported that Jef Whitehead (a.k.a. Wrest of Leviathan, Krieg, and Nachtmystium) has been charged with criminal sexual assault and aggravated domestic battery. An excerpt from the report follows:
"Veterans of the tattoo world were trying to make sense of the allegations made against a renowned tattoo artist who Cook County prosecutors say used the tools of his trade to sexually assault his girlfriend after he slammed her head against a floor and choked her. Jef Whitehead, 42, was charged with criminal sexual assault and aggravated domestic battery Sunday and held on $350,000 bond after allegedly attacking his girlfriend.
"Prosecutors said an argument between the couple began about 12:30 a.m. Saturday at a home connected to a tattoo shop in the 1100 block of West Taylor Street. The woman was taken to the University of Illinois Medical Center in fair to serious condition, said Quention Curtis, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman. Her condition was not known Sunday. 'I've never known him to be violent to anyone — male or female,' Freddy Corbin said of Whitehead, whom he has known for more than 20 years.
"For the last three or four months, Whitehead has been traveling throughout the United States and parts of Europe on a tattooing tour, said Corbin, owner of Temple Tattoo in Oakland, Calif., where Whitehead has worked for three years."
No members of any of the band's Wrest is involved with have made any statements regarding the issue at this point in time. Additional details will be announced as they are made available.
