Shaaman was formed in 2000 following the departure of 3 members from well-known brazilian power/prog metal act Angra. Singer Andre Matos, bassist Luis Mariutti and drummer Ricardo Confessori set out to form a new band, more akin to their new musical inspirations. Guitarist Hugo Mariutti was initially recruited for helping with song-writing duties, before eventually becoming a full-time member.
Combining powerful melodies, traditional metal and progressive elements, Shaaman has released 2 albums + a live album to date.
