California's Antagonist just wrapped up work on a forthcoming self-titled EP, which will contain six songs. New music is due out soon, along with official release details. Today the band has revealed the track listing will be as follows:
The following press release was also issued about the EP: "Their most radical and extreme music to date, the self-titled effort lives up to their name. The new tracks are stripped-down and straight to the point, moving away from the melodic metal of past releases and the commercial metal that has watered-down the style. Instead, Antagonist now relies on their punk and hardcore roots to get their message of social injustice, intolerance, and corruption across. The six-track effort is the biggest musical leap Antagonist has made in its 16 year existence, but it still holds true to what they have always been: an adversary of the status quo, both socially, musically, and lyrically."

California's Antagonist have set August 17th, 2010 as the release date of their upcoming studio album "Worlds In Decline." The album is to be issued through Prosthetic Records and was produced by Paul Miner.
Vocalist/guitarist Carlos Garcia gave the following statement:
"World in Decline focuses on the downfall of human civilization as a result of our own selfishness, ignorance, and greed. The artwork was handled by our boy Daniel McBride, and the cover art is based on the lyrics for ‘Darkest Darkness,’ which, is basically, about me going to ‘confession’ just to realize I’m just as guilty as everyone else in contributing to our decline. We can’t wait for Prosthetic to release the album, and we’re even more excited to hit the road and play the new songs for everyone! There are definitely tour plans for the end of the summer."
California's Antagonist have just released the track listing for thier upcoming album "Worlds In Decline" due out on Prosthetic Records. Thier Prosthetic Records debut, "Exile," was released in 2008.
Singer/guitarist Carlos Garcia commented on "Worlds In Decline" by saying: "We’re super stoked on the finished product, and we hope everyone will feel the same! Paul was amazing to work with, he was very encouraging and super patient with us, and we’re eternally grateful for that. And of course, he knows his way around the console. This is honestly the first album we’ve done that is an accurate representation of Antagonist’s live sound, and it definitely showcases a more refined, aggressive sound. We’re taking it back to the old school!"
Here's the track listing for "Worlds In Decline":
1. The Bane of Existence
2. Sasha Grey
3. Disguised In White
4. God On Fire
5. Wake Up And Smell The Lies
6. New Human
7. A Voice Unspoken
8. Already Dead (Featuring John Strachan)

Antagonist has announced "World In Decline" as the title of thier long awaited new album. The band recorded at Buzzbomb Studios in Orange, CA with producer Paul Miner (Terror, Thrice, Throwdown). Antagonist released "Exist", their Prosthetic Records debut in 2008.
Singer/guitarist Carlos Garcia commented on the forthcoming album:
“We’ve just wrapped up the making of our new album with Paul Miner. We’re super stoked on the finished product, and we hope everyone will feel the same! We’re taking it back to the old school!”
“‘Exist’ had a hopeful message of working together as humans towards a better future. The new album is about the realization that things will always be fucked up, people will always be selfish, and this world is going to end at any minute, and we have nobody to blame but ourselves. People grow older and figure out that life doesn’t get any easier and that our own selfishness, carelessness, and ignorance are at the core of our demise. So right now, that’s where our heads are at, which will in turn no doubt lead to a much more aggressive and angry album. “
The band will be announcing a late summer tour in the coming days.
Southern California metal outfit Antagonist has announced that they have completed work on their next full length album and will be entering Buzzbomb Studios in Orange County next month to record the effort with producer Paul Miner.
Singer/guitarist Carlos Garcia commented: "This will be the first album to feature our newer lineup, so the songwriting will be noticeably different in some areas; nothing too out of left field, but definitely some vibes different from the usual Antagonist sound. But we promise lots of shred, lots of circle pits, and lots of groove. Probably the biggest difference this time around will be the clean singing (or lack thereof). This is a very pissed off album lyrically and thematically, so we thought it would only be proper to NOT include any clean singing this time around. I know some of you won't like that, but it's something we felt would be necessary to hopefully get our point across.

Bay area thrashers Antagonist have issued the following update about acquiring a new guitar player:
"Hey everyone, time for another Antagonist update! We have a lot of stuff to talk about, so get ready...you ready? okay. here we go...
"First off, we'd like to say THANKS to everyone that came out to see us on these last few tours of the Northwestern and Southwestern United States! Special thanks goes out to our buddies in Last House on the Left for putting up with our childish bullshit on the road. Please check them out if you have a chance, they're on our top friends and they will rule your chonies!
"Now that we're back home, we have time to discuss a few very important things, the first one being the addition of a new member to the Antagonist family, our new guitarist and long time friend, Roland Leonard! He's filled in for the last few tours after the departure of our boy Matt Lopez, and he's done a FANTASTIC job. He was originally just a fill-in but he ended up pretty much blowing us away with his guitar playing ability AND his unique songwriting skills. And the fact that he's just a downright cutie pie doesn't hurt either! So next time you're at one of our shows, please welcome him with open arms, like Steve Perry would want it!
"Next on the agenda is our brand new online MERCH STORE!! We've been lagging it HARD on this end, but we've finally gotten around to building ourselves a sweet bigcartel merch empire (not really, but we have some shit for sale). The url for the merch store is Antagonist.bigcartel.com, and there will definitely be a sweet banner on our page that'll directly link you to the store. Right now there's only a few items for sale, including our new album EXIST, but there will be lots of other designs added as the days go by, so keep checking back! More...
California metal band Antagonist has officially parted ways with guitar player Matt Lopez. The band has released the following statement:
"Our long time friend and guitarist and friend Matt Lopez has decided to call it a day and pursue other things.
"He joined the band about 6 years ago, and although he wasn't technically an "original" member, we consider him one. He added so much to the band in terms of music and just our personality in general (or lack thereof, until he joined the group). He's decided that he wants to go back to school and we support him 100 percent.
"There's absolutely NO bad blood between us, we're still all the best of friends and will continue to jam and make music that isn't Antagonist. Being in a full time touring band is definitely not easy, especially one like ours that still books our own tours and hasn't made money in our ten year history (sad but true, haha). This lifestyle isn't for everyone, and to be perfectly honest, Matt did the very smart and logical thing, because now he won't be broke like the rest of us!
"So i know you're all wondering who's going to take Matt's place. And the fact is, so are we! We don't know the answer to that yet, but thankfully our good friend Lanny Pearlman (ex-Cerberus) is filling in for a few shows. We're currently looking for someone to fill in for our February tours, as Lanny won't be able to do so due to work obligations. As for a permanent replacement, that's something we'll need to think about long and hard. But we'll keep you all posted.
"If you have any questions/comments, please let us know. Matt's last show w/ the band will be at the end of this month. We'll let you know the details as soon as we get them."
