"Rock Against Diabetes 2008" was held at Club Rox in Las Vegas, Nevada. The club was kind enough to provide R.A.D. with a venue for the two-day event. Many artists gave of themselves to support the cause, which will not be forgotten by all of us that struggle with diabetes on a daily basis.
I got the chance to talk with the event founder and organizer, Darrin Buchanan, and he explained how all of this came about. Two years ago, Darrin's foot died on him virtually over night. He underwent a number of tests and the result was diabetes and that part of his foot would need to be removed. Here is a 36 year old man with a wife and young daughter and he was facing the fight of his life. From that experience Rock Against Diabetes began. The first event was held is Canada and Darrin, in his wheelchair, was keeping the show flowing and the event was a success. A chain of events led to a second surgery to remove more of Darrin's leg from the knee down, and now Darrin would be walking again after 2 years with the help of a prosthetic leg. It was fantastic to see Darrin running around for two days along with his lovely wife Lindsey. They are my heroes! I am sure glad we are on the same team in this daily fight that we diabetics face each day. They give me strength and hope! More...

Southern California metal band LEATHERWOLF has launched a search for a new guitarist following the recent departure of Geoff Gayer.
For more information on what exactly the group is looking for, visit the LEATHERWOLF MySpace page.

LEATHERWOLF's recent shows were the band's first European dates since they reunited with original lead vocalist/guitarist Michael Olivieri and guitarist Carey Howe earlier in the year. More...
Southern California metal band LEATHERWOLF have parted ways with guitarist Geoff Gayer. As a result, the group's European tour had to be cut short by one date.
Commented the group: "First of all, we would like to apologize to the Rock House crew in Pescara, Italy and all the fans that were looking forward to seeing us live. We were very much looking forward to playing for you all and ending our trip on a high note. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be. Geoff's unacceptable behavior prevented us from carrying on after last night's gig at the Black Horse in Cermenate. We will spare you the details but it was ugly — now we know how the members of UFO must have felt like every time Michael Schenker had one of his 'episodes.'"
"We are on our way back home to Orange County as we speak and will evaluate the situation and go from there. Working with Geoff in his current state is absolutely out of the question yet we are aware that replacing a key member and major creative force will not be easy. Ideally, we'll move on with a local Southern California guitar talent who we can write, rehearse, and gig with on a regular basis and gear up for 2008, which includes playing the Festival de Metal Borocua 5 next May in Puerto Rico."
"Qualified interested parties can contact us via our MySpace page or e-mail us at email@example.com (please do not send us any mp3s unless asked!)."
Organizers for Germany's Keep It True IX Festival have announced that Danish metalheads EVIL have been forced to cancel the show due to drummer Freddie Wolf's recent wrist injury that will keep him side-lined for at least four weeks. Los Angeles-based thrashers HIRAX will step in as replacements.

16:35 - 17:20
17:40 - 18:25
18:45 - 20:00
20:20 - 21:35
21:55 - 23:10
23:30 - 01:00
The Keep It True IX Festival is scheduled for November 3rd in Dittigheim at Sporthalle. The festival has been sold out since April.
Legendary Orange County, CA metal band LEATHERWOLF has announced its first European dates since reuniting with original lead vocalist/guitarist Michael Olivieri and guitarist Carey Howe earlier in the year. The reconvened triple axe attack will headline Germany's Keep It True festival and is playing an additional half dozen select dates in Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, and Italy.
"We are very much looking forward to playing Europe again after doing the Bang Your Head!! festival last summer and we would like to thank all the promoters who are putting their faith in us on rather short notice," states guitarist Geoff Gayer. "We're just coming off our first show with Mike and Carey back and it was amazing how natural it felt to play together again so we'll definitely be ready to kick some serious ass for all our European friends. The setlist will include a good cross section of songs from all the LEATHERWOLF albums, everything from 'Spiter' and 'Kill And Kill Again' to 'Gypsies and Thieves', 'Wicked Ways', 'Behind the Gun' and 'The Grail', so everybody, old school and new school, should be going away happy. Can't wait!"

American Power/Melodic/Metal band Krucible is seeking a killer drummer. Those interested should leave a message at the
LANCE KING (Balance of Power, Pyramaze) on vocals

DON LaFON (Six Minute Century) on guitar

Orange County metal stalwarts LEATHERWOLF are currently looking for a new vocalist following the departure Wade Black who fronted the band on their critically acclaimed comeback album, "World Asylum," released last June on N.I.L.8 Records.
"We would like to thank Wade for his contributions to LEATHERWOLF and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors," commented the group on the split. "There are no hard feelings between both parties. Unfortunately, certain economic realities and the geographical distance between Wade and the rest of the band turned out to be an obstacle too hard to overcome and made working as a unit that much more difficult."
"We are now looking for someone closer to home, perferably based right here in Southern California. Potential candidates must be able to sing both the Michael Olivieri and Wade Black era songs (guitar abilities a huge plus!), have a valid passport, and be able to go on the road as we have a European tour in the works for spring 2007."
