Kataklysm Updates Tour Schedule

Kataklysm has updated its upcoming tour schedule for North America, South America, Europe, and South Africa. "In just about a month we will embark on Katakalysm's longest one way headlining stretch crossing four continents in nearly 20 years," commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono. "Heaven's Venom has been welcomed with open arms by fans and critics alike across the globe. As I mentioned before in interviews, Heaven’s Venom is a very personal, aggressive and dark Kataklysm album that hits home. We love this album and want to share its anger with our fans! We want to play places we have never been before and also revisit our loyal supporters while creating some new fans along the way. One thing we know, is that this will be the only time you will be able to see the band on this record or for a long time. So don’t say ‘I’ll catch them the next time’ because there might not be a next time. We are thinking of taking along break after this massive trek and who knows what will happen next. So if you are a fan of Kataklysm you have been called to duty!"

The upcoming tour dates are as follows: More...

Ex Deo To Return in 2011 with "Caligula"

Kataklysm's Facebook page has announced that Ex Deo will return in late 2011 with their sophomore release entitled "Caligula," accompanying the announcement with these words: "I have existed from the morning of the world and I shall exist untilthe last star falls from the night. Although I have taken the form of Gaius Caligula, I am all men as I am no man and therefore I am a God."

When asked about Ex Deo in a recent interview, guitarist Jean-François replied: "We didn’t know for sure because for us it was really Maurizio’s project, so we did it out of passion for music and to do something different. When we saw the reaction to it and the amount of albums sold, the label certainly wanted us to record a second one. We thought about it and thought “Why not?” It works good, and we actually have a lot to say and more ideas to explore and we want to start working on another one."

"We didn't know what to expect going into Ozzfest. Already being invited was an amazing moment for us but we did our thing and it was monstrous! Kids were going crazy and we couldn’t have been more happy. I don’t know why it took over 15 years for someone to give us a real chance here but I want to give a big thank you to John Fenton, Sharon Osborne and everyone from Ozzfest camp for this opportunity. We stood strong and made loads of new fans! Now we’re going to continue on our quest across the US with DEVILDRIVER and KITTIE for the next three weeks. Hope to see all you fuckers out there! Heaven's Venom just came out yesterday in America so go get it and come check us out live. The new tracks are shredding!"

Kataklysm Posts Third Track-By-Track Breakdown

Vocalist Maurizio Iacono of Canadian metal act Kataklysm has posted the third part in a track-by-track breakdown of the band's new album "Heaven’s Venom." Maurizio's description of the songs can be found below. "Heaven's Venom" is set to be released on August 13th in Europe and August 24th in North America.

“At the Edge of the World”: “Forget IN FLAMES and AT THE GATES! This song rivals the best of them in the melodic thrash area. This song will make many heads turn I think. Unleash your anger and bang your head! For when you feel like your suffocating and you’re at your breaking point. Standing at the edge of the world; will you jump or survive?”

“Suicide River”: “The most dark, melodic and dramatic song on the album. A gut gripping and very intense song, fast and mid paced without taking a breath. Deals with suicide and how easy it is to take that route versus living in this fucked up world.”

“Blind Savior”: “The slow finale. A very atmospheric song with a sharp edge. A sing along song it will make you think. Rivals are best slow songs like “Road to Devastation”. Song deals with questioning God and faith. Questions what you can’t see.

Kataklysm Posts Second Track-By-Track Breakdown

Maurizio Iacono, vocalist of Canadian extreme metallers Katakalysm, has posted the following second segment of a track by track break down of the their new album "Heaven’s Venom."

“Push the Venom”: One of my faves on the album for its simple in your face approach. The first video and single off the album. Aggressive with no compromise and you will be singing Push the Venom! This one deals with people who think they know you but they don’t and judge you for it with no merit.

“Hail the Renegade”: A more experimental KATAKLYSM on this song but again an undeniable KATAKLYSM approach. Song is straight forward with weird patterns and a bass solo that will blow your mind. Again some old KATAKLYSM here and a very cool JFK speech at the end. Song deals with the protecting our freedoms at any cost necessary and showing that this battle has been on going since the very beginning of civilization and still today.

Kataklysm Posts Album Track-By-Track Breakdown

Maurizio Iacono, vocalist of Canadian extreme metallers Kataklysm, recently provided a track by track break down of the their new album "Heaven’s Venom." The following is Part 1 of the commentary, which encompasses the first three tracks from the album.

A Soulless God: This song was written after a crazy experience in Vancouver where we played a show with Kreator. We realized after walking outside for about a 5 mile radius or so that it was a crack infested, homeless concentration camp. It looked like zombie land. What happened is that for the Olympics they collected all these addicts and put them in this one sector. Our club was in the middle of it and we all freaked out about it. We couldn’t believe that they would let something like this happen in Canada. Anyway, the song deals with putting yourself in the skin of a homeless, addict and wondering where God is to save you. It’s a very thrash oriented song with some cool grooves and aggressive structures.

Determined (Vows of Vengeance): This song has a more tech approach and also visits some older Kataklysm while incorporating our newer elements. One of my faves on the album! Song deals with falling on your face, picking yourself up and moving forward. This one will be a pit favorite!
