Kataklysm have posted a new song and the following message at their official MySpace page:

This is just for you guys to get a taste of it."
The new track, which was originally intended to be unveiled on January 1st, can be found here.
The new album, "In The Arms Of Devastation" is due to be released worldwide on February 20th through Nuclear Blast.
Kataklysm have lined up the band's last shows for 2005 in Canada:

On January 1st, Kataklysm will be premiering a new song called "Like Angels Weeping (the dark)" from the band's highly anticipated new album "In the Arms of Devastation".
Kataklysm guitarist J-F Dagenais comments: "the new album is at the record label, gearing up for production as we speak. Tue Madsen did a phenomenal job on the mix, the album sounds very powerful and very well balanced. Everyone at Nuclear Blast in Europe and the States seem to think this is our strongest album to date (that makes you feel very confident Imust say!). They are very excited and so are we. For me, this album is just another piece to the Kataklysm puzzle, but a very important one indeed. We really found our niche and the determination of the band is felt all over this record. I think our fans will dig this one alot!!... Play it loud Feb. 20th!!"
Kataklysm guitarist Jean-François Dagenais has posted this message on the band's website:
"As must of you know, the recording sessions for the new Kataklysm album are done. This time around I wanna try something different and get another producer involved with the album other then myself (I have produced and mixed the last 5 Kataklysm releases). I wanna give this release 2 different perspectives, 2 different feels to it, so we decided to enlist TUE MADSEN (The Haunted, Mnemic) to mix the new album and I think the combination between both of us will be lethal!.. I think this will be the best thing to do, as I've been swamped with projects from all over Canada and been working on the Kataklysm album for 2 months. Having someone completely fresh to work the last parts of the album will be great. So I'll be shipping the record over to TUE at Antfarm studios in Denmark very soon. "In the Arms of Devastation" will be released worldwide Feb. 20th on Nuclear Blast Records and is guaranteed to blow your mind!!"

Kataklysm have completed the recording of the band's 8th studio album.
GuitaristpProducer J-F Dagenais comments: "After having spent 2 months behind the production helm for the new Kataklysm album, we have now achieved what we wanted from a to z. I worked extremely hard on this record to get it to sound like no other Kataklysm album and Imust say - when you have the time to work on something, it DOES benefit greatly! I'm really happy with the results we have. Everyone in the band gave 150% and I can't wait for everyone to hear this album. I have to agree with one of Maurizio's previous statements when he said this album at once on a technical side and yet with its blazing tempos, has been the most difficult album for me to record my guitar tracks. Felt like at some point my wrist and fingers were gona give in... but it was well worth the pain!"
The band's 8th studio album "In the Arms of Devastation" will be released Feb. 20th 2006, followed by a massive touring campaign.

Kataklysm has posted this message on their website for Voivod guitarist, Denis "Piggy" D'Amour, who passed away on Friday:
It's with great sadness that we have learned today that Denis aka "Piggy" has passed away. The impact of his guitar influence was felt worldwide. His work in VOIVOD opened the doors to many metal bands in Canada and gave all of us hope for better things in this scene. He was the nicest guy you could meet and the most humble person you could talk too. We are sad to see you go brother but your legacy will live forever. We will see you on the other side.
Our best wishes go out to all in the D'Amour family and to our Canadian metal godfathers VOIVOD. Stay strong, and as we say back home... "Lachez pas les gars"!!
From all in Kataklysm.
KATAKLYSM frontman Maurizio Iacono has posted the following message on the band's official website:
The artwork contest is now over... We would like to thank everyone, from our fans to artists from the 4 corners of the world that have sent in their visions. The response was great!!... Now we've got to go through all of them (there's shitloads to look at!) and make a decision with our record label Nuclear Blast, so bare with us and we'll let you know who the winner is soon...
Just flew back to Chicago this morning from Montreal. I finished all my vocal tracks for the new album and I must say this was the most difficult album I've had to record! Some of these songs have crazy tempos and I had to step it up a notch, but I'm very happy with the end result... According to J-F the album should be finished in a few weeks."
Kataklysm vocalist, Maurizio Iacono, has posted the following album update on the band's official website:
Hey guys -
Little update for you all regarding the new album... I received a call today from our producer/guitarist J-F, informing me that the drums are almost all done and they sound monstrous!! Max once again has done a killer job and put a lot of feel into the songs. We're going less mechanical and more organic on this album, brutality most be felt the right way.
Yes the rumors are true... next weekend we will have Morgan Lander from KITTIE doing a guest appearance on the new album. For some people this must feel like a weird combination, but rest assured that Iwill turn Morgan from an angel to demon and she will be spitting fire under our wings!!.. Other Canadian musicians, such as INTO ETERNITY's Rob and Tim are also schedualed to appear on the album as special guests, doing solos and guest appearances. More details to come...
Don't forget - next weekend's Xtreme Distortion Festival in Laval (QC) Canada... Last show for Kataklysm in awhile.

Canadian death metallers Kataklysm have cancelled their participation in the X-Mass Festivals 2005 European tour this December. In an official press release, the band blame the cancellation on "the simple reason that the new album will not be ready in time to coincide with" the trek and "it made no sense" to do the tour. Instead, Kataklysm have confirmed that they will take part in the No Mercy Festivals 2006, to be followed by a series of dates across Europe.
With regards to the new album, Kataklysm bassist Stephane Barbe writes:
The writing process is going very well and according to plan. All the focus, the ideas, the passion and the drive are there, and that's what makes good albums, in my opinion. Expect nothing but hard work and dedication with the new one. Our fans deserve the best from us.

We are presently half way done with the tour and its been absolutly great. We didnt know what to expect coming into this tour as an extreme act, but so far i can truly say its the most important tour we've done in the states and its been packed every night. Response has been amazing with violent pits every night, we've been treated with nothing but respect by Danzig and there crew were having loads of fun and exposing Death Metal to a new audience and making lots of new fans. Cool to be part of the Danzig /Doyle 30 min Misfits reunion shows in Boston/NYC and Philly it was historic and the Crown went apeshit.
