Quebec’s KATAKLYSM has been creating quite a stir at this year’s Summer Slaughter tour with their show stealing performances all over the North America. Now after years of hard work and other successful tours, which most recently included runs with bands like DIMMU BORGIR and CHIMAIRA, they will finally play a headlining tour of North America this fall.
The trek will last from September 28th until October 28th and will cover much of the US and Canada. Joining KATAKLYSM on the tour will be Dying Fetus (Relapse Records), ELUVEITIE (Nuclear Blast Records), and KEEP OF KALESSIN (Nuclear Blast Records).
Vocalist Maurizio Iacono could barely contain his excitement when asked about what is sure to be one of the biggest metal tours of the year:
"We’ve waited a long time for this! No more 30 minute sets and pissing our fans off every time we play with people saying ‘why didn't you play this or that.’ We’re fucking stoked to have been given this opportunity to really give our fans the show they deserve.
"We’ve also brought an elite line up of bands and friends to join us out on the road. Our great friends and brutal death metal legends DYING FETUS. From Europe, we’re bringing PaganFest stand out band ELUVEITIE with their pagan folk metal that will turn many heads. Last but not least, Norway's new kings of progressive Black Metal KEEP OF KALESSIN! A full on metal package like that hasn’t been seen in a long fucking time!
"In addition there will be a special guest in regional markets that will be revealed soon…so expect a big show with full fledged KATAKLYSM devastation. The time has finally come!"
Canada's very own extreme metal titans, Kataklysm, have re-signed with Nuclear Blast Records. This isn't the first time the band has re-signed to the label either but actually the fourth time; a first in the history of the label.
The band is currently touring with The Black Dahlia Murder as part of the annual Summer Slaughter tour, supporting their soon to be classic new album "Prevail."
Lead singer Maurizio Iacono took a quick break from the madness of the road to comment on their renewed partnership: More...
Currently out on the Summer Slaughter tour, KATAKLYSM frontman Maurizio Iacono checked in with a tour report video (below) for all the fans.
In the video, he discusses the making of the video "Taking The World By Storm," how KATAKLYSM landed their spot in the Summer Slaughter tour, the other bands on the tour, the contract renewal with Nuclear Blast Records, and more.
In addition, Maurizio states:
"In a recent poll that was launched to give fans the choice to vote for the next Kataklysm video, over 2,500 votes were submitted and the track 'Prevail' was the one that took in the most votes! Therefore, KATAKLYSM will use the title track 'Prevail' as the band's second video from their latest masterpiece. The band appreciates everyone's support and would like to thank who gave their input for this. KATAKLYSM will start filming in August for a release later this year, more details to follow.
"KATAKLYSM will also announce some MAJOR news via a press release this FRIDAY..so stay tuned!" More...

Kataklysm is letting fans vote for the next song off their latest album, "Prevail," to shoot a video for. A voting poll has been launched at Polldaddy and will be active until the morning of June 24. Once that date hits, all votes will be counted for and a surprise announcement will be made shortly after by the band.
In related news, KATAKLYSM vocalist Maurizio Iacono has issued the following tour update:
"Well, that was one insane weekend in Canada. We did three album launches and gave away three custom Washburn guitars… and what a memorable weekend it was. In over fifteen years of playing in KATAKLYSM's birthplace, Montreal, that had to be (on Saturday) the most intense crowd response ever to the point that club owners have now established mandatory barricades for every metal concert (sorry, guys). KATAKLYSM has charted at number 38 in Germany and 44 in Austria's music charts for their latest release, "Prevail." Just a few days after the worldwide release of the album, KATAKLYSM also surpassed 100,000 friends on MySpace.
As previously reported, Kataklysm and Martyr are about to head out for a few Canadian tour dates in a couple days:
6/6 Toronto, ON @ The Opera House
6/7 Montreal, QC @ Le Medley
6/8 Quebec City, QC @ L'Imperial
For one week only, Canada's Kataklysm will be streaming their new album "Prevail" from start to finish on their official Myspace page.
The "Prevail" tracklisting is as follows: 'Prevail', 'Taking The World By Storm', 'The Chains Of Power', 'As Death Lingers', 'Blood In Heaven', 'To The Throne of Sorrow', 'Breathe To Dominate', 'Tear Down The Kingdom', 'The Vultures Are Watching', 'The Last Effort (Renaissance II)'.
The band will also be including a bonus DVD with the album which includes live footage.
ATAKLYSM's video for the track "Taking The World By Storm" has premiered exclusively on MySpace Metal (also embedded below).
The clip was shot and directed by David Brodsky (www.mgenyc.com) and comes off the group's upcoming album, Prevail, which is set to be released on May 23 (Europe) and May 27 (North America).
KATAKLYSM vocalist Maurizio Iacono states:
“It was a true pleasure to work with David on this video, his level of professionalism is outstanding and his vision is great. We had fun filming this video although we froze our fucking balls off for 12 hours! David really captured the energy and apocalyptic feel of the track and the song is definitely one of my favorites on the album. Enjoy!"
Director David Brodsky had this to say:
“Working with KATAKLYSM was an awesome experience… really, what am I going to say besides that? I mean… they’re fucking KATAKLYSM!
"But truly, in the middle of the biggest blizzard of 2008 in NY/NJ, KATAKLYSM showed up eager to the location in the ass-end of seedy Newark, NJ and truly nailed it. Twelve grueling hours in a cold, nasty, wreck of a building and not one complaint, only true professionalism. Some of the shit they did had me cheering.
"KATAKLYSM is an awesome force to behold – they are the performer’s band. They perform with an indefinable swagger and verve. They are all natural showmen… and to be able to spend some time capturing them was a great honor and a great pleasure...besides all that, I can’t get that fucking chorus out of my head!” More...

I was happy to hear just a week before this show that Shadows Fall's tour was hitting Jaxx in Springfield, Virginia on April 13, 2008. I had already resigned to missing the tour, which featured a great lineup with Droid, Arsis, The Showdown, and Kataklysm as support, because the Baltimore date was the day before Ministry's final stop in my area, and I'm just too old for back-to-back shows! The April 13 show worked out perfectly, as I really wanted to catch this tour. The show was also on a weekend and I had not been to Jaxx in quite a while, not that I needed so many reasons to go to this show. More...
Droid have posted the following tour report:
"Whats up Droidz, the SHADOWS FALL tour was off the hook, we have returned home from a 3 day drive from Maryland to Long Beach, CA.
"Droid will be returning to the studio this week to begin writing new music for our 2nd release on Emotional Syphon Recordings. We hope to have our 2nd CD recorded by the begining of 2009.
"Droid will continue to tour the US on and off for the remainder of the year so don't count us out on playing your home town yet!!!
"The tour with Shadows Fall, KATAKLYSM, ARSIS and THE SHOWDOWN was a great chance for us to meet a lot of new friends, between the bands and the new people that we were able to perform for. Also we were able to have the chance to hang out with many friends and fans from the past!!!
"Soon as we have our next tour confirmed we will have it posted right away. Thanks to all of you who came out and supported us on this tour and thanks to Shadows Fall for bringing us out with them, they were a great band to share the stage with and were really good to us!!!"

Northern hyper-blasters, KATAKLYSM, have just been confirmed as direct support to SHADOWS FALL this April! Also appearing on the tour are THE SHOWDOWN, ARSIS and DROID. Lead singer Maurizio Iacono had this to say about the bands hectic schedule in support of their upcoming release, “Prevail”:
"Well I guess our break time is over. Today we will be having a listening session of our new album ‘Prevail’ for the media and our friends in Hollywood, then we fly off to Australia for our first ever tour there! We are planning a massive touring campaign centered around the new album. On our return from Australia we will prepare for a two week run with SHADOWS FALL. It will be cool to tour with those guys again since it’s been a while since we’ve played together. We are also working on a Canadian headlining tour for the end of May with our good friends INTO ETERNITY. As many of you already know as well we will be on the ‘Summer Slaughter Tour’ this June/July. So in true KATAKLYSM road warrior tradition we have set ourselves up for something like 60 to 70 shows from a April to July!
"We will be premiering some new songs on our MySpace next month and we’re thinking of playing two new tracks on the SHADOWS FALL run! We are very proud of ‘Prevail’ and the comments from those who’ve heard it so far have been OUTSTANDING! We can’t wait to see all you crazy fucks out there in the pit with fists in the air! See you soon!”
