Kataklysm Working On New Album

Canadian extreme metal outfit KATAKLYSM is in full writing mode at the moment for the follow up to the very successful “Prevail” album. Guitarist J-F Dagenais recently offered the following update regarding the bands progress writing the follow up to the bands 2008 release “Prevail,” released via Nuclear Blast Records:

"I’m really excited to be deep into the writing process for the new KATAKLYSM album! The band is more focused then ever. This album will be different then ‘Prevail’ but will still have the classic KATAKLYSM trademarks and hooks. You will see a much more intricate record then we’ve done in the past. It will contain some really fast and dynamic parts but we also aim for a very melodically driven record that will contain lots of technical parts that we haven’t explored much lately. No worries though, the bone crushing grooves are always a must with KATAKLYSM and will be present.

"I’ve also seen Maurizio's lyrics for this album so far and let me tell you that they hit really hard! I know it’s a very personal album to him as he is going through some tough times in his personal life, so I’m not worried about what he will bring to this record. Expect a very real, aggressive and determined KATAKLYSM album. We know we have set the bar high for ourselves but we are confident to deliver the goods once again!

"On the production end, I will handle the recording as usual but for the mix we have decided to enlist Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, SUICIDE SILENCE, WINDS OF PLAGUE, DARK TRANQUILITY) again from Denmark. We feel he captured the bands sound best on ‘In the Arms of Devastation’ and that we’re a winning team. We’re going to make sure you have the best sounding record to date!"

On Christmas day, KATAKLYSM will reveal the new album title for their upcoming release on their Facebook, Twitter and Myspace pages. The album is tentatively scheduled for release for late Summer/early Fall 2010.

Ex Deo Working On New Music Video

Ex Deo, the ancient Roman themed band lead by Kataklysm front man Maurizio Iacono, recently returned from a trek in Europe and are now preparing to take on North America along side Ensiferum, Hypocrisy, and Blackguard. Plans are also in the works for the band to film another video for the bands debut "Romulus." The video will be shot once again by director Ivan Colic and producer Stanimir Lucik in Belgrade, Serbia. The filming will take place in early January 2010 and will be released in the month of Mars (March) to celebrate Mars, the ancient Roman god of war.

Commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono: "The first video clip we did was for the title track Romulus. It was an epic venture into the beginning of Romes birth and mythology and served as more of an introduction to the story. This time we’re going to do a video that will turn everyone on their heads. ‘In Her Dark Embrace’ will depict a Roman battle scene. Were not going for airplay here, were going for what Rome was: the most brutal and efficient war machine that ever walked the earth. If it’s blood the people want it’s blood they will get. I can’t wait to get this done.”

Ex Deo's upcoming tour dates are as follows: More...

Blackguard Checks In with Tour Recap, Album Update

Blackguard vocalist Paul Ablaze has checked in with the following Summer Slaughter Tour recap and new album update:

"Hey everyone! Paul Ablaze here. I'm very sorry for the lack of updates, these things slip my mind sometimes . But here it is finally (better late than never i suppose) a little something to let you all know what's gone down and what's in the works!

"Summer Slaughter Re-cap (i started writing this a while ago)

"This years summer slaughter has come and gone. Beers were drunk, blood was shed, vomit covered jeans, didn't see anyone cry but who knows? Point is no one came out the other end of this beast unchanged in some way, and we are without a doubt stronger than we've ever been as a band because of it.
This being only our second full north american tour we had everything to prove to both the fans and our peers, and i believe we won the respect of both along the way. I had said early on in the tour how amazed i was on how social everyone was and how much we as a tour came together and pulled for one another. I truly believe that the only reason this tour finished when it was suppose to and not 4 weeks earlier was because of the strength in character everyone displayed and how devoid everyone was of any kind of "ego" or "rock star" mentality.

"There are certain memories that surly stick out amongst the never ending (sometimes fuzzy) memories of good times that happened over the past month and a half. a few note worthy ones include: More...

Kataklysm Announces Canadian Tour Dates

Canadian extreme metal outfit Kataklsym will perform a series of shows in the provinces of Ontario, Québec and New Brunswick this Fall with Blackguard and Unfallen. One which will start in October doing secondaries in Quebec and heading out in eastern Canada as well. Next year in the spring we plan on doing a full scale Canadian tour which we haven't gone out west once for Prevail so we don't want to forget any of our fans.

In the meanwhile we are getting ready to hit the road with our other band called EX DEO, its our EPIC nemesis band based on Ancient Rome. It's been receiving rave reviews around the globe. Ex Deo Checks In From The Road

Frontman Maurizio Iacono of Kataklysm and Roman themed band Ex Deo issued the following update while on tour alongside Napalm Death:

"We're well into the first week of tour with our old friends in Napalm Death. The shows have been good and everything is under control. We look forward to all the dates and completing the touring cycle for 'Prevail' in 2009. We will do some Euro festivals immediately after this tour is done and then go to Russia and Europe for a short headliner with DEATH ANGEL. The last thing on the agenda regarding KATAKLYSM will be a full European headliner in January 2010 to wrap things up until the next album.

"So after these tours are done our focus will immediately change to our new band EX DEO, which will be released by Nuclear Blast Records in June. The hype behind ‘Romulus’ is gaining massive momentum and this is such a big project! We need get things ready with the live aspect of things and to rehearse and be prepared for Paganfest Europe. Having said that we decided to decline all tour offers coming for KATAKLYSM for the rest of the year. We might also bring this epic band to the States but were not sure yet, since it has to be the right tour.

"We’re going to announce some cool news regarding EX DEO next week. So if you want to watch KATAKLYSM in the states one last time before the next album drops (not before 2011), this would be the tour to come visit us and party like we usually do. A big thank you to the fans for making ‘Prevail’ a very succesfull album worldwide. Now I must gather my legions and take back the throne of metal! The scene needs a kick in the ass back to rebellion and Rome is coming!"
