Stolen Babies Reveals "Naught" Artwork

Avant-garde act Stolen Babies and Bloody-Disgusting.com have just leaked the never-before-seen album art for the band's upcoming second full-length album, "Naught," set for release later this year. You can view the new album art at this location or below.

“In continuing our collaboration with artist Crab Scrambly, it was really important to us to create something our fans would want to keep staring at while they caress and possibly fondle it's smooth exterior... not something easily done to a downloadable mp3, I must note,” states bassist Rani Sharone. “We hope this album cover brings plenty of candy coated smiles to the masses and even more warm and fuzzy feelings when they see the rest of this little gem that is the album's packaging. Naught is our mutant, not so well behaved second full-length studio album and we look forward to its release!”

The band plans to release solid details about "Naught" in the coming weeks. This September, Stolen Babies will be touring the United States with co-headliners Devin Townsend Project, Katatonia, and special guests Paradise Lost as part of the “Epic Kings & Idols Tour” (DTP and Katatonia will alternate in headlining each show). Devin Townsend And Katatonia Announce Tour Dates

Canadian extreme metal outfit, The Devin Townsend Project, has announced that the band will be embarking on a co-headlining run of North America this Autumn, along with Swedish metal veterans Katatonia, with whom they will rotate headlining slots. British gothic metal legends Paradise Lost are also on the bill as direct support, with Stolen Babies confirmed as the trek's openers.

Speaking on the tour, Townsend stated: "So after a break in which we've managed to finish the live DVDs from the London shows (‘By A Thread’) as well as our surprisingly epic new record, 'Epicloud'...We're about to start getting into touring mode again, and it pleases me to announce that we'll be with some wonderful bands this Fall. I think this package pretty much covers the gamut of emotional heavy music, and really...It'll be nice to share the stage with some passionate folks who live for their music as much as we do. Again, we can't thank you enough for supporting what we do and allowing us to play for you. It will be nice to catch up, and we hope to see you there!"

Katatonia's Anders Nystrom adds: "A better bill than this will be hard to find!"

The Dillinger Escape Plan Announce New Drummer

The Dillinger Escape Plan has confirmed that Stolen Babies drummer, Gil Sharone will be playing on their new album. This was confirmed in an update on the bands site and is as follows:

"Know that what we are in the process of recording will be everything we have ever been capable of, and now more. This last year, and how we have gotten through it and to the place we are now, will define all of our lives for a long time. You will hear it in the music and words when you hear this album, and when you see us play live you will see the newfound energy that we now have from making it through all this together. Some of you are new, some of you have been with us for a long time. Regardless, we have a long way left to go, and the thing that we share together besides the music is making it through obstacles in our lives. We have overcome everything from multiple member changes in the early years, members suffering physical impairment or injury that has made it impossible to continue playing, and financial, physical, personal, and internal problems that many bands would never make it through. We take forever to put out records, and put everything we have into them. This band goes beyond just writing music and lyrics for us, it exists in every aspect of our lives 24 hours a day, and everything we experience and go through ends up going into this band in some way. When we see familiar faces on tour, we know that in the time since we have seen you last, you have had to deal with a lot in your own life just to get there again. Life is not easy, but it is the overcoming of obstacles and the amount of fight we have inside of us that will define us. We are going through all this together in some way or another. Please welcome this new time for us. The past was great, but the future will be greater I promise, if every day we didn’t know for a fact that it would be, we wouldn’t continue. We love you all for sticking though us through all of this. You’ll hear it and see us soon.

The album is called ‘Ire Works‘ and is being produced by Steve Evetts for a fall release. Recording members of The Dillinger Escape Plan are now:

Ben Weinman
Liam Wilson
Greg Puciato
Gil Sharone“

Cristina Scabbia Talks About Touring the US

LiveDaily.com reports: For Lacuna Coil's Cristina Scabbia, it is not difficult to be a female hard-rock singer in a male-dominated world. She counts on professionalism and respect to earn fans.

"As long as you believe in yourself, you can always do it," said Scabbia, who shares vocal duties in the Milan, Italy-based band with male Andrea Ferro.

"I always thought if you give respect to people, you always get the same respect back. Of course, if you are expecting to be just the female in the band and then it's easy to make it just because of that---you are wrong. You're absolutely wrong. You have to be able to do your job. You have to be able to have balls. But I don't think it's a question of being a woman or a man. It's a question of having the right attitude."

Lacuna Coil, which currently is in the midst of the Jagermeister Music Tour with Stone Sour, is one of the few European hard-rock bands to cross the ocean and make a name for itself. It broke into the US market thanks to a 2004 spot on the Ozzfest tour supporting "Comalies" and a 2006 position opening for Rob Zombie. Scabbia chalks up her band's success to the fact that it is "offering something different from the other bands."

"Our music is not the typical music you listen to every day," she said. We always could care less about cliches and music. But we always try to be inspired by different things, and we created something that's absolutely different--we have two singers, a male and female, but we don't use the voices as the beauty and the beast. We have aggressive parts, but a lot of melody in the music. I think that made the difference. We're successful, too, probably because of the relationship with the fans, as well. We always like to interact with them, which we always thought was really important."

Other European hard rock bands haven't been so fortunate because of the high cost to bring a tour to the United States, she explained.

"There's an ocean in between, so it's really expensive to come here and to bring a lot of stuff, to have a decent [stage show], and it's a question of budget and a question of time, as well. If you want to tour properly in the US, you need a lot of time. It's not like you come here, play for a week and then it's done. You have to be able to touch every territory, touch different clubs--A clubs, B clubs, festivals, as well. It's basically a question of time, organization and budget."

After the Jagermeister tour wraps up, Lacuna Coil will begin a headlining tour in support of its latest album "Karmacode." The first single, "Our Truth," was featured on the soundtrack for the movie "Underworld: Evolution."

"Karmacode" closes with a cover of Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence."

"It actually happened because we were thinking about covering a song especially for the live shows," Scabbia said. "We just wanted a very famous song that everybody could sing during shows. We tried different songs, but we just found out 'Enjoy the Silence' was absolutely perfect for our style, but it wasn't meant to be a [Lacuna Coil] single; it was just meant to be a famous song that people could sing during the show. But then people liked it so much that we had to release it as a single because people wanted it."

By the end of this year or the beginning of 2008, Lacuna Coil will return to the studio to record the follow-up to 2006's "Karmacode," which the band co-produced with Waldemar Sorychta. The group has begun penning new material, but it doesn't have complete songs.

"But we're collecting new ideas, keeping everything together and practicing a little bit," Scabbia said.

Here are the latest Lacuna Coil tour dates: More...

Stolen Babies Sign To The End Records

Stolen Babies are a unique band in their own right, a talented act that has amassed a following with their energetic and freakish live shows. The band's musical style is a cauldron of ideas that serves up a wonderful variety of vibrant styles meshed together into a pure chaotic frenzy. And it works.

With elements of gothic rock, industrial, punk and metal brewing within, it's not hard to see why the band has been able to impress fans and critics who have stumbled upon their mischievously power-packed numbers. The band's well-received debut release 'There Be Squabbles Ahead' will be released in digipak format on The End Records on October 3rd.

About signing with The End Records, Stolen Babies comment, "Signing with The End became the obvious choice for Stolen Babies. As a band with a very strong artistic vision we knew what we were looking for in a label and The End was the missing ingredient in our cupcake of madness!"

The band, who just finished up a string of successful shows with Sleepytime Gorilla Museum on the West Coast, are going out on tour again this month with Giant Squid for a few select dates.
