Rhapsody Announces Farewell Reunion Tour

Fabio Lione, Luca Turilli, Dominique Leurquin, Patrice Guers and Alex Holzwarth proudly announce the reunion of the original members of Rhapsody, and the relevant farewell tour of the band.

The Italian band Rhapsody, one of the greatest icons of Symphonic Power Metal, will gather together to commemorate the 20th Anniversary from their first official release, playing their album “Symphony Of Enchanted Lands” in full, as well as other classics of the band. It will be an exciting and emotional event no one should ever miss, as this will be the only and last chance to see the band performing on stage together. The Rhapsody’s 20th Anniversary Farewell Tour will be hosted by Top Link Music.(this location).

Since its consecration in 1997 with the album "Legendary Tales," Rhapsody has become a worldwide awarded band thanks to its unique, epic and orchestral sound. Initially baptized in the "Hollywood Metal" style, because of its movies-related fascination and its characteristic epic soundtrack elements, the Italian band established itself as one of the biggest names in Symphonic Power Metal thanks to their second release “Symphony Of Enchanted Lands”, which soon became a classic of that music genre. Rhapsody’s main influences also include classical composers such as Vivaldi, Bach, Beethoven, Paganini and many others (the song “The Wizard's Last Rhymes” from Rain Of A Thousand Flames, for example, is based on Antonín Dvorák’s ‘New World Symphony’). These elements made the band clearly unique in the whole heavy metal scene and, thanks to its magic, gathered lots of fans all over the world and inspired many bands, giving birth to a brand new musical wave and genre, that established a real and effective Rhapsody imagery. The 20th Anniversary Farewell Tour will represent a last chance for everyone to feel part of that wonderful magic once again. Luca, Fabio, Patrice, Dominique and Alex will celebrate such important and historical event with and for their amazing fans! More...

Rhapsody Of Fire Announces New Vocalist

Italian fantasy metal pioneers Rhapsody of Fire announced that Teodasia vocalist Giacomo Voli will be the band's new voice, replacing Fabio Lione, who announced his departure back in late September.

The band commented: "We are extremely proud to announce that Giacomo Voli is the new singer of Rhapsody Of Fire. As you can imagine, we are very enthusiastic to have Giacomo in the band and we can promise you that, beside his beautiful voice, he has brought new energy that we are looking forward to unleashing. Stay tuned! More news and footage coming really soon!"

In a world exclusive interview with MetalUnderground.com back on October 10th, band founder Alex Staropoli spoke about the qualities he was seeking in a new vocalist: "There are three main aspects for both: personality, technique and emotion. We want someone with the right chemistry. We want to have a lot of fun playing, performing, recording and touring together. For instance, the new singer needs to have a solid vocal background, skillful and experienced, with a wide range and lots of power. It’s important that the singer can easily communicate with our audience on stage and convey a wide range of emotions through epic storytelling. Regarding the drummer, it’s of course less about storytelling emotion but more about the fun on tour and the energy on the stage in addition to a mind-blowing technique that fits our music."

The announcement came via a video clip with Voli introducing himself and a performance clip giving a taste of what he brings to the band. Check it out here:

Alex Holzwarth Splits With Rhapsody Of Fire

Drummer Alex Holwarth (Serious Black) has followed vocalist Fabio Lione in his departure from Rhapsody Of Fire by announcing his own split with the Italian power metal pioneers.

In an announcement on Facebook, Holzwarth posted:

"My dear Rhapsody Of Fire fans! Some of you may know, I wanted to do something different since a long time and I feel the time is right to focus my energies on other projects. This means I won't be able to play with Rhapsody Of Fire anymore.

"My bandmates have known about this and they are supportive. I know it comes very soon after Fabio’s leaving but I feel that's the best moment to do it as the band is already working on the new line-up.

"I wish the Band everything positive and best luck for their new chapter with a new singer and new drummer. There will be a fresh line-up for an exciting future. I really trust ROF for finding the most suitable musicians. More...

Lione joined the band in 1995 just after the "Eternal Glory" demo and before the release of the debut album "Legendary Tales." He leaves behind a legacy of 11 full length studio albums with the band.

In a post on Facebook, Lione stated:

"Dear all, fans, promoters, colleagues. I anticipated this to all band members in the last 3/4 months and now I sadly announce my final decision to part ways with ROF. Ain't no words to describe what this band represents to me, and I'm proud to have been part of such a big chapter of the power metal bible.

"It's time for me to write a new chapter of my life, as a musician and as a man. I wish ROF all the best, may their magic go ahead stronger than ever. Thank you Alex and Holzy, for this 20 years. Thanks You Roberto, for your friendship and Alessandro for your sincere attitude and honesty."

One of those new chapters was recently announced - in the form of Eternal Idol, which releases the debut album "The Unrevealed Secret" on December 2nd via Frontiers Records.

Fabio Leone Guesting On Twilight Force Album

Swedish adventure metal band Twilight Force is set to release new studio album "Heroes Of Mighty Magic" on August 26th through Nuclear Blast.

Today, the band can proudly announce the guest bards on this forthcoming record. Fabio Lione from Rhapsody Of Fire joined on the track "There And Back Again" while Joakim Brodén from Sabaton appears on the the title track.

Joakim commented: "When one of the best bands to come out of Sweden in a long time turns out to be your friends and people you have played with many times over the years, it's quite easy to feel proud about being invited to sing on the title-track on their new album, fantastic!"

The band adds: "It is an honour to have two of the most powerful, esteemed and renowned voices of the genre appear on 'Heroes Of Mighty Magic.' Joakim Brodén and Fabio Lione are two very different sonic entities. They each bring something very unique and captivating to our tonal landscape. Our old and revered friend Joakim appears on the title track of the album, and provides an excellent contrast to Chrileon's voice, at just the right moment in the song. Nothing in the world even comes close to Joakim's unbelievably mighty voice!

"Fabio did an amazing performance on 'There And Back Again.' He entered the Twilight Forge with a brave and proud mind, emerged victoriously and left us in complete awe. His familiar voice provided the track with an absolutely magical contribution. We feel really humbled and grateful to have been given the opportunity to create something alongside these two titans of the genre!" More...

70,000 Tons Of Metal, Day Four: "Band Vs. Nature"

I woke up at the usual 7:30am after arriving at my cabin less than three hours prior. I really thought there would be more of a hangover…but then again, it really wasn’t that long since my last drink. I usually reserve the last full day/night of the cruise (today) to be the time I lay down the camera and act more like a fan, but circumstances were such that Saturday night was the party night.

So the last full day of the cruise is met much like any other Sunday before you go back to work…the morning brings the feeling of “I still have a full day ahead of me.” By mid-morning you think “Ok…I have to find a way to slow this day down.” By noon its “I still have lunch and dinner and a bunch of shows to see.” By mid-afternoon its “well, the sun is still out.” By early evening its “Fuck…its almost over.”

I headed up to the Windjammer for some breakfast and I brought my camera so I can check out the 10am pool deck show with Twilight Force. After eating, I walked up to deck 12 and guards were blocking the pool deck from every angle. Apparently there was a banner that was blowing around that may cause harm if it detached…or so the story went. I checked back four times…even seeing many of the band members in costume and ready to go. It was not to be…Twlight Force would be cancelled and rescheduled…but this was just the beginning of the nightmare. More...
