Ra Streaming Full New Album

Veteran alternative metal act Ra has released its fourth studio album, and first since 2008, titled "Critical Mass." The new record marks the return of the band's original lineup - guitarist/vocalist Sahaj Ticotin, bassist P.J. Farley, guitarist Ben Carroll and drummer Skoota Warner.

You can also now stream the album in its entirety at MSN's Listening Booth here. If you like what you hear, "Critical Mass" can be purchased online via iTunes.

"I believe this record to be the most complete album we've ever made, but also the heaviest," said Ticotin. "There is a conscious effort here to be more respectful of hard rock/metal roots and less on being too touchy feely. I really wanted this record to feel intense, even on the more light hearted songs. For once I don't feel as if I compromised on any aspect of the writing for this record."

The track listing is as follows:

1. Brutiful
2. Awake
3. Supermegadubstep
4. It's All Over Now
5. Anything U Want
6. Won't Be Home Tonight
7. Running Blind
8. A Hollow Glow
9. Ecstasy
10. Tragic Empire
11. Voices Inside My Head
12. Through the Valley
13. Crawling to the Sky

Ra To Release New Album

Veteran alternative metal act, Ra, has announced an October 15th, 2013 release date for "Critical Mass," the band's fourth studio album and first since 2008. "Critical Mass" also marks the return of the band's original lineup - guitarist/vocalist Sahaj Ticotin, bassist P.J. Farley, guitarist Ben Carrol, and drummer Skoota Warner.

Always known for having a passionate, supportive fan base, "Critical Mass" was funded by a Kickstarter.com campaign that helped raise over $32,000 to record and press the album.

"The Kickstarter was a surprise on many levels," added Ticotin. "Not only in the amount of money we raised, but mainly in the intensity of the demand. People were genuinely aggressive about making sure we made another record. As cliché as it sounds, without that level of energy, I don't know how well this record would have come out. Their passion directly inspired the songs on this record from beginning to end. It is truly amazing."

Fans can pre-order "Critical Mass" today at this location. More...

Pit Stories: A Bouncer Finds Love

Every week we share pit stories from rock and metal acts across the globe. This week bassist/vocalist Sean Arata of Fort Wayne based hard rock band Downstait shares the following tale of a bouncer finding love after a fan gets out of control:

We were playing a show with Ra in Flint, Michigan, and some guy was drugged out of the mind in the crowd, and picking physical fights with everyone, including the girl he came with.

One of the bouncers tried to get him out of the place, he resisted, and the bouncer blasted him in the face, which knocked him out, but also shattered his hand. They both go to the hospital, and the girl goes along.

We come back about a year later, and the bouncer fills us in about how the guy he knocked out thanked him for bringing him to the hospital, not remembering he was the one who put him there in the first place. Also, he filled us in that he and the girl he defended were getting married soon.

Downstait recently canceled a string of December tour dates due to illness within the band, but you can hear music from the act and find out about upcoming live appearances at the Downstait Facebook profile here. Check back in next week for more mosh pit stories from fans and band members.
