Coldworker Calling It Quits

Swedish act Coldworker has checked in with the following announcement about deciding to call it a day:

"Attention! After seven plus years of full blasting death metal, Coldworker is calling it quits.

"Everybody in the band doesn't want to do it anymore, so we feel the best thing is to just hang it up and be done with it. There's no bad blood between the members and we remain friends.

"Thanks a bunch to everybody who supported us through the years, buying albums and t-shirts and coming to the shows, you are the best! Big thanks also to Listenable records, Relapse records and to André Alvinzi, who was an important part of the early days of the band.

"None of us is quitting music and we'll see you around in other bands. Thank you and goodbye." More...

Coldworker Signs To Listenable Records

Coldworker has issued the following announcement about signing a deal with Listenable Records for the release of "The Domsayer's Call:"

"Big news. Coldworker has a new label home. We are proud and excited to announce that our new album, 'The Doomsayer's Call,' will be released by Listenable Records. Listenable is passionate about the music and really into 'The Doomsayer's Call,' so we couldn't have wished for a better label to ink a deal with.

"We have more confidence in this album than either of our previous efforts, and can't wait for you all to sink your teeth into the epic grind-infested death metal knuckle sandwich which is our new album.

"We are also anxious to get out on the road to tear it up in front of a live audience, especially since we, for different reasons, didn't get to play live nearly enough in support of the 'Rotting Paradise' album. Make sure to keep checking our website for information regarding upcoming shows.

"Exact release date, artwork and samples from the album coming soon..."

Coldworker Announces New Album Title

Coldworker drummer Anders Jackobson has posted the following recording update online and announcement about the title of the band's new album:

"There's often talk about 'the difficult second album.' Well, history has told me time and again that the third album is usually the most memorable in a band's discography.

"We have all put more than 100% each into this album, writing songs that will stand out on their own as well as have a natural place on the album, spending many hours in three different recording studios just to get the best out of ourselves and so on.

"The album is definitively 'the next step' for Coldworker, with developed song-writing and performances that are the best we can muster. It's really a band effort as all five members of the band have written songs, and like wise all five of us have opinions about what the final album should be. We still have, alas friendly, arguments about the mix and the track order, but at least we have decided upon a title: the album will be called 'The Doomsayer's Call'."

You can also check out footage of the band performing the new song "Becoming the Stench" at this location.

Coldworker Issues Recording Update

Guitarist Anders Bertilsson of Coldworker has issued the following update about the band's current recording process:

"This time around we're recording guitars using my Peavey 5150 amp, as well as a line signal. I think it'll turn out great, but it's hard work! We've been doing evening shifts all week, as well as two full day shifts. We've still got four songs to go, but at least we're making good progress. Recording really puts your playing skills to the test, and most of time it kicks your self confidence to the gutter. I feel that my playing is at its best when we play live, and adrenaline kicks in. I'm actually not that much of a fan of the recording process. I use a Jackson WRXT for the recording of this album. Jackson guitars is the way to go, and the fact that I'm not using a USA made Jackson should prove that they're solid. More to come, some videoclips and additional pictures. I should probably add that I'm stoked to hear the final result, and I think it'll turn out to be a solid record!"

Daniel Schröder also commented:

"As Anders mentioned, we've been tracking 10 out of 14 songs this week and following is a list of what songs we managed to complete each day:

Day 1, Monday Jan 3 - The Walls of Eryx
Day 2, Tuesday Jan 4 - Monochrome Existence
Day 3, Wednesday Jan 5 - Flesh World
Day 4, Thursday Jan 6 - The Phantom Carriage, Living is Suffering and Violent Society.
Day 5, Friday Jan 7 - Murderous
Day 6, Saturday Jan 8 - Day off
Day 7, Sunday Jan 9 - Becoming the Stench, The Reprobate and the cover for the Japanese edition. More...

Coldworker Comments On Bass Recordings

Coldworker has checked in with the following update about recording bass tracks for the band's upcoming album:

"The second day of bass tracking is done. We started yesterday at 'A Noble Home' which is Anders J's apartment. This time we are using my SansAmp and record both the clean signal as well as a distorted one from the SansAmp. As always I use my Ibanez SR500, the same bass I used for 'Rotting Paradise.' I got six of fourteen songs tracked so far, and aiming for one more tomorrow morning.

"The pace of how many and which songs I'm able to track is depending on Anders B and Daniel, who are tracking guitars at a different location (not far from here though). The songs they track are given to me the same evening and then I struggle with them the next coming day. Today I finished one easy and two hard ones, yesterday I think it was two easy and one that was a more difficult. So it's been a nice mix between the easy and the not so easy songs this far.

"But the overall feeling is good. We got the drums on mp3's as soon as they were recorded, and I think they have been really useful when it comes to practicing and preparing at home prior to this recording. We have avoided every (if any) speculative unpleasant surprises this way."

Photos from the recording session can also be found at this location.

Coldworker Issues Recording Update

Coldworker has issued the following update about recording new material:

"The holidays are over and today the recordings of the third album continued at our friend Johan Berglund's place where the guitars will be recorded.

"After Christmas some final adjustments were made to the drum files and yesterday they were finalized and distributed to Johan. One track has already gotten some temporary guitars and has been sent to a special guest that hopefully will have time to participate in the recording in some way... More info about that another time."

Coldworker Checks In From The Studio

Coldworker has checked in with the following update about recording a new album:

"The Making of The 3rd Album 2010-2011: Four sessions later and the 14 songs are all put on disc. Massive amounts of stress and worry has disappeared now when I'm actually done with this part of the recording.

"God damn, I am beat! More of less everything is aching but it was totally worth it. I am really, really satisfied with my performance this time. It feels like the best I've ever done behind the kit so far. I know every musician says that when they've recorded their latest stuff, but I really mean it.

"The other Coldworker guys have visited me in the studio and listened to the stuff and taken a lot of pictures that I hope they'll share in this diary. Oscar shot some stuff with three different video cameras and below is an exclusive first taste of the song 'The Glass Envelope.' Enjoy!" More...

Coldworker Working On New Album

Coldworker has issued the following end-of-year update and announcement about recording a new album:

"We've redesigned the website a little bit to tone down the 'Rotting Paradise' feeling of it and we've started a studio diary that you can follow through the recordings of the new album.
