AVA INFERI will enter the studio in November to begin recording their third album, "Blood of Bacchus," which will include songs entitled "Fireflies," "A Witch she was, the Witch I am," "Lights," "Last Sign of Summer," and "All the Colours of the Dark".
"The studio has now been chosen and the majority of the votes landed on Top Room Studio "(ULVER, ARCTURUS, MAYHEM) in Norway (again)", mainman Rune Eriksen comments.
"We have been wandering those territories at earlier stages of our career but it's with renewed passion we enter the woods once more. Chief technician Finstad + 1 will be supervising and doing the magic this album deserves."
"We will head into the studio (armed to the teeth with red wine) on Monday the 24th of November and finish off the ritual at Winter Solstice. I believe this is just enough time to capture what we have in store this time around."
"I'd say that as far the material goes, we are more than 80% done with the music, or perhaps closer to 85%, actually. All basic fundaments, tons of layers, rhythmic and vocal lines have been crafted and we are so very curious of the final outcome of this album. Emanating Bacchus in the bliss of winter..."
"Some special guests will also appear this time, but all will be revealed when the time is right."
Portugal's AVA INFERI has set "Blood of Bacchus" as the title of its third album, due later in the year via Season of Mist. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Fireflies", "A Witch She Was, The Witch I Am", "Lights", "Last Sign of Summer" and "All the Colours of the Dark".
Commented guitarist Rune Eriksen (a.k.a. ex-MAYHEM guitarist/songwriter Blasphemer): "We, or perhaps I, must confess that this is easily the most interesting album I've been writing on ever. It surely has it all, and we are quite confortable with the outcome of everything to this point. From our more conscious moments of theatric gothic doom to enchanting Bacchanalian rituals. This is the album that will carve our name deep into the memories of moder earth. A pure and true moment of music. We are also in talks with some long-running and highly regarded studios for us to expand our universe even further." More...
Guitarist Rune Eriksen of Portugal's AVA INFERI has issued the following update:
"As most of you probably realized already, our debut video for the song 'Dança Das Ondas' is up and running online. You can see it on our MySpace, our homepage, YouTube (of course) and also at the Season Of Mist site. It turned about to be a beautiful and mystical clip, very much in the spirit of the Portuguese folklore. We love it.
"There are also happening interesting things on the live front as well these days, as we are confirmed as the direct support for CHRISTIAN DEATH on their two Spanish dates early February. I believe we will entertain Barcelona the 1st and Madrid the 2nd. Make sure to be present if you are somewhat nearby! We are also confirmed for a HUGE metal fest next year, but for obvious reasons I will wait for the official statement from the festival before i post it here. More...
Season of Mist has released the upcoming AVA INFERI track "Pulse of the Earth" on the internet, taken from upcoming album "The Silhouette". You can download an MP3 of this track here.
AVA INFERI reveals "The first version of this song had a totally different character. The overall feeling is probably the same but the rhythmic structure was completely different. It had an almost floating, ambient kind of vibe to it and was generally more avant-garde than what it turned out to be. We feel that the new version has all the elements that makes AVA INFERI something different, and it's also one of the most powerful songs we have composed up to this point in our career. A true and powerful declaration.
"The lyrics on "Pulse of the Earth" are strongly influenced by nature and the forces therein, and furthermore, they paint a vision of the interactions between man and nature. Note that "The Silhouette" in itself is partly devoted to the elemental aspects of our world and that this song represents the earth element, if any doubt...
"On this particular song we also use different types of rhythmic or native (diverse) instruments to recreate and achieve a kind of ritualistic feeling. To bring out the message and its essence to the fullest. We also believe that every song presented on "The Silhouette" has its own strength and mission. That each song has its own peculiar twist. An album full of surprises!"
Ava Inferi's "The Silhouette" will be in stores on October 15th and October 23rd for the US.
Portugese metallers AVA INFERI are currently working on their new album, "The Silhouette", tentatively due next year via Season of Mist.
"Eight months have gone by since our debut, 'Burdens', was released," the band writes in a press release. "We would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you who bought the album; we really appreciate your support!
"Being a debut band is always difficult. And considering the present 'overcrowded' music scene, it takes a lot of will, talent and energy to really get somewhere these days. We are fit to continue the fight!
"With this said, we inform you that we are already in the writing process of our second album for Season of Mist, namely 'The Silhouette'. We enter the studio in January next year (2007), if everything goes according plan. Some keywords: shorter songs, more vocally focused, wickedness and melancholia, and not to forget our share of heaviness and diversity."
