A Sound Of Thunder Announces Guest Vocalist

As was previously announced, Washington, DC-based heavy metallers A Sound of Thunder are now offering their new "Queen of Hell" EP exclusively through Kickstarter.com. The EP serves as a follow up to the 2012 studio album "Out of the Darkness" (reviewed here) and teaser for the band's next studio album "Time's Arrow," due in spring 2013.

"Queen of Hell" was produced by Kevin "131" Gutierrez (Shinedown, While Heaven Wept) at Assembly Line Studios in Virginia. According to guitarist Josh Schwartz, "We had too much great material for our next album and weren't willing to shelve it, so the EP was a no-brainer. It gives us a great reward to offer the fans who support our fundraising campaign for the next album, and reduces the wait time for new music from the band."

A teaser clip for "Queen of Hell" can be found below. Benedictum vocalist Veronica Freeman makes an appearance on the EP, performing a duet with vocalist Nina Osegueda on the title track. "Veronica is a real metal monster of a vocalist, and has the power and presence to deliver this kind of classic metal. She is a true queen of metal and together with Nina, your speakers might just explode!" said Schwartz.

Freeman commented: "Sometimes I get asked to do a special project and I have to give it a bit of thought, but with Nina, having performed with her on stage before and knowing how she can
'bring it' I knew it was not only going to be a lot of fun, but that it would be some kick ass music to work with. It was a real honor to be asked to work with her and A SOUND OF THUNDER. Hmmmmm, hope to do something more in the future... you never know!!" More...

Banshee Replaces Benedictum At WOM Fest V

Warriors Of Metal Fest V has announced the cancellation of Benedictum and how Banshee will be replacing that band at the Open Air festival, which will take place on June 29th and 30th at the Frontier Ranch in Pataskala, Ohio. WOM Fest IV Open Air veteran Veronica Freeman of Benedictum contacted Warriors of Metal, Inc. last night with the following statement:

"Benedictum will not be able to attend the WOM Festival this year. We do so regret this and want everyone to know how much we love and support Datis and his efforts and every sponsor and fan that helps to make this festival happen. Our schedule will need to remain open at that time to facilitate work on the new album and work around some tight scheduling. We wish each and every band an amazing time and each and every fan throw your fists in the air in support of this event!! Love to everyone. V/Benedictum"

Warriors of Metal Fest also announced that former Metal Blade and Atlantic Records recording artists Banshee (currently with Snowblind Productions) will replace Benedictum on its line-up this year. Banshee has come back together after 21 years to record their fourth album called
"Mindslave," which is slated to be released within the next couple of months.

This will be Banshee's very first Open Air Metalfest appearance since the release of its new album and it is interesting to note that the three year WOM Fest veteran vocalist, George Call (ex-Omen) of Aska and Violent Storm will now be attending his fourth consecutive year at Warriors of Metal Fest Open Air for his fifth performance at the Fest with three different bands. Aska headlined the Friday night of WOM Fest II in 2009, George sang with Omen, headlining the Friday night of WOM Fest III, and he sand with Aska, co-headlining the Saturday night of WOM Fest III in 2010 with Cage, and of course Aska headlined the Saturday night of WOM Fest IV in 2011.

Banshee has an officially unreleased track called "Unearthed" on the Warriors of Metal Fest V Open Air 2012 Double CD Compilation that will be availabe to 2000 fans attending Keep It True XV Festival in Germany in less than 2 week's time and all the fans attending the Warriors Of Metal Fest V Open Air this year. Benedictum Vocalist Posts European Tour Report

Benedictum vocalist Veronica Freeman has posted the following tour diary online:

"Now we head back back to Germany where we hit Bochum, Hamburg, Koln, Magdeburg, Osnabruck, Jena and Munich before heading to Switzerland then back to Germany again. This trip of course would not be possible without our beloved driver and "merch guy" Chris. Now Chris likes to drive, Chris loves to drive, Chris loves to drive right up on top of the vehicle in front of him. We love Chris, Chris keeps us safe...( we tell ourselves that over and over as a survival tactic!) But you must know that we love him! Even if he can be a drill sergeant."

Shadowside Vocalist Performs With Benedictum

Shadowside lead singer Dani Nolden performed with Veronica Freeman and Benedictum one of the highlights of the Flight of the Valkyries Metal Fest, the only festival in US featuring only female fronted rock / metal bands. Dani shared the stage with them on the Dio classic Rainbow in the Dark last Saturday (June 28) in Saint Paul, Minnesota (USA).

"It was certainly one of the highlights of the weekend! I came up with the idea after listening to the Shadowside CD one day. I knew that Benedictum had done several covers of Dio songs previously (two on their first album - 'Heaven & Hell' and 'The Mob Rules') and just thought it would be a unique experience, not to mention a lot of fun for the fans and the bands. Thankfully, even with the limited time to work on this idea, Dani, Veronica and the guys from Benedictum were able to pull this off incredibly well and I thank them endlessly for that! - said Bobbie Dickerson, festival organizer."

This isn't the first time Dani has done a special appearance. One of the most important ones was with Andre Matos and Shaman for the Judas Priest hit Painkiller.

Shadowside co-headlined Flight of the Valkyries Festival together with Unexpect from Canada.

A video of Dani with Benedictum is available at DailyMotion.com and below.

As of right now, Shadowside is in the middle of the second leg of Devastating the Theatre 2007/2008 Tour. On July 6 the band hit Fort Worth, Texas and then appear at Rocklahoma. More...
