Danish symphonic extreme metal act Illnath has decided to call it quits. A statement by Pete Falk (guitars/keyboards) cited a gradual change in musical tastes has forced a need for a change. The remaining members in the band have decided not to continue without his participation.
Just this past May, the band introduced new vocalist Marika Hyldmar to the fold. The most recent release was "4 Shades of Me," issued in March of this year via Pitch Black Records. The full statement reads as follows:
"We have a very unfortunate announcement to make. I have experienced many things since 1997 when Illnath played our first tunes. As the only founding member since then I have always had a strong belief in the band. Nothing has been able to overshadow the will and energy to work forward and fight for things. I am 37 years old now and I have gained a more nuanced view of things. In the recent years, my personal musical preferences moved in a somewhat different direction than melodic extreme metal, and I feel that now is the time for a change. I regret nothing in my time with Illnath and I have had many great experiences with the band, but my heart does not live and breathe for this band anymore.
"Given that neither Dennis, Kenneth or Marika feel that it is the right thing to continue Illnath without my participation, we have decided to call it a day. Instead of focusing on the sad aspect of Illnath stopping, I encourage our fans to focus on the good things Illnath, after all, has brought to the world through the nearly 20 years as an active band.
"I will still be working on my solo project Leadfreak and Marika will be working in her black metal band Machiavellian. We all hope to see you guys around through other musical aspects, and last but not least we would like to thank you all for the years of support and dedication towards the band, you have been our rock through it all. We sincerely thank you." More...
Denmark's Illnath has made the following announcement concerning the band’s new vocalist:
"We are very proud to announce that Marika Hyldmar is now a part of the Illnath family. After several auditions with several vocalists, we decided that Marika was exactly what this band needed. And thus, we dragged out of the comfort of her home, and cast her into the fields of evil pleasure.
"Marika is 21 years old, born and raised in Silkeborg, Jutland. Marika was introduced to the metal scene – and Illnath – in her early years, and she decided that she wanted to be a vocalist herself. In 2012 she formed her own band, Machiavellian, and will continue this project alongside Illnath. In her sparetime she is a photographer for rockfreaks.net. Her main inspiration lies in the black and thrash-metal scene. Bands like Absu and Skelletonwitch are a big influence on Marika’s vocal.
"We have decided that Marika was to re-record Ravenous Crows (now just Crows), because this would show the full potential of her voice. You can listen to the result below.
"We are extremely proud to welcome Marika to the band, and we look forward to many rehearsals, records and of course concerts. We have already started writing songs for an EP, which will be available in the end of 2013. So stay tuned!" More...
Pitch Black Records has checked in with the following announcement about offering a free sampler in celebration of the label's fifth anniversary:
"When we were putting together our first release back in 2008 we knew that we were going to continue doing this for a long time afterwards. This was obvious from the sheer passion and dedication we found ourselves putting into that first release and this hasn’t changed one bit for any of our releases that followed later on.
"Five years might not sound much (or even 20 releases for that matter) but hey, we never bragged about being the biggest label ever! Besides, we pride ourselves in that what we lack in quantity we most certainly make up in quality! Each and every one of our releases has received a fair share of enthusiastic reviews, many of those releases have been included in 'best of the year' lists by various writers and reviewers while others have received significant distinctions. Of course we’re not forgetting the fans and how they have all embraced Pitch Black Records and our releases so a HUGE thanks to you as well for being part of this.
"During the last five years we have established some good solid relationships and friendships, both with business partners as well as with the artists we have had the honor of working with and releasing their work. Even more exciting things are happening this year, some of which include an important new distribution deal for North America (details to be announced soon), some great new releases (including new albums by Illnath and Arrayan Path) our new and revamped online store already in operation and our just-released free mobile app (currently available for Android, coming soon for iPad and iPhone). We are also working on a compilation album that will be very special in lots of ways. More...

Danish melodic death metal band Illnath announced that it has signed on to Pitch Black Records. The first release for the band on Pitch Black will be the band's "Third Act In The Theatre Of Madness," which is scheduled for release on November 18, 2011 (EU) and November 21, 2011 (UK).
The official press release from Pitch Black Records reads:
"We are pleased to welcome Danish female-fronted melodic death metal outfit lllnath into our roster of artists with the band’s third release, 'Third Act in the Theatre of Madness' scheduled for release on November 18th (21st in the UK) 2011.
"Formed in 1999, Illnath are a band which has evolved explosively through the years. Initially labeled as a symphonic black metal act their style is now a 'mature' blend of melodic/symphonic death metal. Having released a demo in 2000, Illnath’s debut album ('Cast into Fields of Evil Pleasure') came in 2003 with the follow-up ('Second Skin of Harlequin') in 2006. The band toured extensively in Europe and has also played in various European festivals. The band’s third album ('Third Act in the Theatre of Madness') is the band’s most melodic yet at the same time extreme offering to date.
"The band has a completely new lineup comprised of original member Pete Falk on guitars (also handling the main songwriting tasks), the powerful voice of Mona Beck, the killer basslines of Kenneth Frandsen and session drummer Reno Killerich.
" 'Third Act in the Theatre of Madness' will be available worldwide through Pitch Black Records and our distribution partners as well as through all major mp3 stores. The CD version will also feature a bonus track.
1. Third Act
3. Lead the Way
4. Snake of Eden
6. Spring Will Come
7. Tree of Life and Death
8. Fall of Giants
10. Kingship Incarnate (CD Bonus)."
Svartsot has checked in with the following comment about changing the support act for the band's upcoming April 29th live show:
"Forcentury will be replacing Illnath as the support act for our show at Klauzdal in Herlev (DK) on April 29th. Our decision is based purely on the fact that Illnath has already played a show at the same venue in March this year (less than one and a half months prior to our show).
"We therefore no longer feel that Illnath are a suitable support act due to the short space of time between the two shows. Any rumors that there should be any other reason behind the decision are unfounded. We apologize to any Illnath fans who had been planning to attend the show."

Danish melodic black metal band Illnath has parted ways with drummer Danni Lyse Jelsgaard. The band has issued the following explanation:
"Illnath has fired Danni, due to his lack of true dedication to the band. Danni cancelled a show very late, only 5 days before we were playing. He cancelled the show because he better wanted to play a show with his other band Svartsot. to avoid those problems in the future we are sad that we had to fire Danni. We are currently checking out new possible drummers."

Danish symphonic metallers Illnath have issued the following statement about a recent show that was cut short:
"Hey guys, We want to express a sincere thanks to everybody who showed up at Pavillionen at Grenå.
"Unfortunately we had to cut the show three songs before the planned ending because someone in the audience could't keep his hands off Pete's pedal board, so the last two songs were a complete mess.
"We're sorry about this for the people who payed to see the show and promise we'll make it up at our next appearance.
"And a big "fuck you!" to the guys who find it a good idea to mess up a show we've spent a lot of time and travel to prepare."

The band had previously stated about their current label situation, "We have started writing material for a new album, as we don't want to sit around waiting for [Japan's] Worldchaos Production [the group's previous record company] to get the finger out of their ass [and release the band's long-completed second full-length offering, 'Second Skin of Harlequin']. The new material will reflect the new situation we're in - new drummer and new bass player + almost three years since the last album was recorded.
"Regarding 'Second Skin...'. The latest rumours are that Worldchaos Production is working on the graphics for the backside of the booklet, and that the album should be released within 1? months from now [early June]!! We haven't received this information personally - yet, but it comes from a reliable source. We will know the truth about the rumour, when the album is finally released. Until then we do not believe anything."
