Latest Belphegor News
Below is our complete Belphegor news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.

Death/black metal commando Belphegor has started the rehearsal sessions for the band's upcoming new album in Abtenau, Austria. Vocalist/guitarist Helmuth stated:
“All good so far. We just finished the second rehearsing session. Currently we're working on nine sound-collages, added a lot new arrangements, elements and structures. Serpenth, Marthyn and me shredded our asses off in these eleven days. There will be three more until we enter the studio by end of May 2012 and start to track drums. The titles on the set list are working titles. Hell awaits!”
The band has uploaded some photos from the rehearsal session. You can check those out via Facebook.
“It’s amazing to have the opportunity to be creative again and compose a new audible monster," commented Helmuth in an earlier statement. “I began the compositions in November 2011, after I had to spend five weeks in the hospital and 6 weeks in a rehabilitation center because of my health issues. I survived this hard trial, which still seems unreal. I’m not fully recovered but feel way better now, I can say. Unfortunately we had to cancel all tours until June 2012, when we will get back on the road, and will start with some European open air rituals."
The as of yet untitled album is tentatively slated for a late 2012 release. Belphegor's most recent album "Blood Magick Necromance" (reviewed here) was produced by Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy) at his Abyss Studios in Pärlby, Sweden and mastered by Jonas Kjellgren.
Nuclear Blast Records has issued the following announcement about Belphegor working on a new album and performing at the upcoming Extremefest:
"The most popular dark horde hailing from Austria do not back down from anything and enjoy celebrating death/black metal art, which can’t be more murderous, provocatively and offensively. With their current, glorifying bloodwork entitled 'lood Magick Necromance,' this evil circle created a very special sort of demonism and reached to increase their ascendancy within the international extreme-metal-community significantly. Fire, pitch and sulphur… you have to see these guys live on stage! Be prepared for a diabolic scenario at EXTREMEFEST, which will be so shocking that you won’t ever forget!
"The band is currently working on new material and the new, as of yet untitled album for a tentatively slated late 2012 release will be the follow up to January 2011´s 'Blood Magick Necromance.'"
Belphegor's Helmith also stated, "Amazing to have the opportunity to be creative again and compose a new album. I began the compositions in November 2011, after I had to spend five weeks in the hospital and 6 weeks in rehabilitation center, because of my health issues. I survived this hard trial, which still seems unreal. I'm not fully recovered, but feel way better now, I can say. From this coming Saturday until next Wednesday, Belphegor will start the first rehearsal session for the album in Abtenau, Austria. The drum duties will again be handled by Mr. Marthyn, who performed on Blood Magick Necromance.

Unfortunately we had to cancel all tours until June 2012, when we will get back on the road, and will start with some European open air rituals."
"At this time, we don’t feel the pressure of a hard touring schedule and all the rigors surrounding that,” stated bass devastator Serpenth., “The way we can concentrate and create these arrangements in a completely focused way and can even put more energy, blood and guts inside. We are working intensely on ten tracks. We are totally concentrated, you know, the musick reigns above all. Magick. It’s time for a new chapter."

Blackened death metal act Belphegor has issued that following statement in regards to canceling eleven shows on the band's upcoming tour with Deicide:
"Due to circumstances beyond the band’s control we are being forced to cancel eleven shows, since we were initially not given the green light to enter the country. We were promised that we would be fine two weeks ago, but still all the members were not got their stuff. We all tried everything to make it happen, so it’s a terrible situation. We were waiting, sharp and ready to rumble and kick serious ass, but couldn’t do anything.
"The USA immigration forms are approved so now we have new visa interviews at the USA embassy in Vienna at the beginning of next week. Now we have re-schedule the flights to make it happen. We will now start the tour in Chicago, IL at Reggie’s on the 26th. We want to apologize to the demons and everyone who's bought a ticket to see us tear the stage with Deicide. See you in Chicago!”

February 14th is a date that means different things to different people. For some, Valentine’s Day is that special occasion to show someone how much you care, while for others it’s an unfortunate reminder of just how long that unused condom has been stashed in your wallet. For every lucky gentleman who has found the lady he can sexually accost without fear of court mandated harassment classes, there’s that lonely soul who will spend Valentine’s Day with nothing but music out the speakers and a bottle of Jack.
No matter which side you fall on, heavy metal has got a song to match your mood and help you head bang through the gooiest of all the holidays.
Whether any given track is purposefully over the top and funny, depressing enough to make you pull out the eyeliner and candles, or just plain outright disturbing, metal is no stranger to the anti-love song. So for those of you will be spending Valentine’s Day alone, or just simply think the holiday is nothing more than a marketing ploy to sell chocolates and greeting cards, here’s a series of anti-love anthems to get you through the day.
For those who still have a heart and haven't devolved into extreme cynicism, you can also check out our companion listing of pro-love heavy metal music at this location.
Metalunderground.com is no stranger to aberrant sexual behavior, as we have the honor of being home the infamous “I’d put my tongue in her butt” forum thread. The following, um, “tongue-in-cheek” songs are all dedicated to everyone who has ever contributed a post to that thread.
Whether 80’s glam rock parody/tribute act Steel Panther is singing love songs or anti-love songs is a matter of some debate. What could be more loving than each band member’s willingness to sleep with anything that moves, regardless of VD status? Take the particularly touching song “Turn Out The Lights,” in which we are informed that front man Michael Starr is in desperate need of some physical attention, even though his partner actively disgusts him. What’s a horny rock star to do? Look no further than the title for the answer:
