Sun Descends Post New Music Online
New York thrashers, SUN DESCENDS, have posted 4 new tracks off their new album "The Entropy Formula", on their Myspace page. The 10 track album, which is released on Khaosmaster Productions this month and via Twilight Distribution in the fall, will be the last band's last output for 2008 and 2009. Vocalist Mem V.Stein who also fronts German cult thrash EXUMER will return with a new SUN DESCENDS album in 2010, after the EXUMER reunion in 2009.
"The Entropy Formula" will also be released on limited edition vinyl later this year and will incorporate the artwork of Sean Taggart (Crumbsuckers, Agnostic Front, Carnivore).
Sun Descends To Release New Album In April
New York City thrashers SUN DESCENDS, who feature in their ranks former EXUMER vocalist Mem von Stein, will release their new album, "The Entropy Formula," in April via Khaosmaster Productions (Puerto Rico). The artwork will feature an illustration by Sean Taggart.
The first song from "The Entropy Formula" is available for streaming on SUN DESCENDS' MySpace page. The six-minute track "3 Corners of Hell" is the group's first new material to surface in the two years since the band's first full-length release in early 2006.
Commented Mem von Stein: "The music on SUN DESCENDS' new album is as relevant as the music on 'Possessed by Fire', which I recorded with EXUMER back in 1986. Let's just hope that the thrash frenzy of today won't be exploited as it was in the '80s, causing thrash metal to come to a creative full-stop. Otherwise I am amazed at the comeback thrash metal has made and I am very hopeful that the new SUN DESCENDS album will be received positively." More...
Sun Descends Announces New Member
Sun Descends have pushed their recording date back to late May 2007, and are in the end stages of the writing process for the new album. The new cd titled "The Entropy Formula" will be produced by Terror of the Trees mastermind, His Eminence the Wicked. The recording will also feature Craig "The Reaper" Horval of Nunslaugthter/Crucified Mortals on bass. The artwork for the album will be created by Sean Taggart, who was responsible for mid eighties cover artwork from bands such as Agnostic Front, Crumbsuckers and Carnivore.
Vocalist Mem comments, "The new material is definitely in the vein of eighties thrash metal with traces of hardcore and a lot of guitar harmonies. It captures the spirit and sound of New York City's inspiring griminess."
"The Entropy Formula" will be released via Twilight Distribution in late summer of 2007.
Sun Descends Split with Drummer
NYC'S SUN DESCENDS have severed ties with their drummer Chris Torre. The band is looking for a replacement at the moment and encourages anyone who is interested to contact the band at: mem@sundescends.com
Mem V. Stein: "It's unfortunate that the drummer position in this band seems to be a revolving door but the good news is that we have completed 9 songs for the new album and are ready to record them as soon as we have found the right man for the job."
Sun Descends Forced To Cancel European Tour
New York City thrashers SUN DESCENDS have been forced to cancel their previously announced European tour due to accusations that were levelled against the trek's projected headliners, IMPALED NAZARENE, regarding their alleged neo-fascist views and lyrical content. IMPALED NAZARENE had to call off a portion of their European tour that was supposed to feature SUN DESCENDS in the support slot alongside MASTER.
Commented SUN DESCENDS vocalist Mem von Stein: "This has been a very hard blow for the band psychologically and financially. However, we refuse to give up and we will try to come and play in Europe before this year is over. We deeply regret these circumstances and want to state this situation occurred without us being at fault. We started working on new material for the follow-up to 'Incinerating the Meek', and are even considering recording the new SUN DESCENDS album in Germany."
