Syracuse metal/hardcore band Freya, featuring Karl Buechner and Erick Edwards of Earth Crisis, has officially confirmed the addition of guitarist Jeddie Gentile and bassist Mike LaGrow. Both Jeddie and LaGrow were previously members of The Last Season and Jeddie actually joined Freya as a full-time member in February.
Meanwhile, the band recently shot a video for "Suffer Not One" with Rich Stahle of UVTV. According to the band "It went very well and we can't wait to see the finished product. It was a new experience for some of us." The video will debut in several weeks, but photos from the shoot are online here.

Lambgoat Records recently signed Syracuse, NY metal band Unholy. The group features former Godbelow vocalist Danny Johnson in addition to guitarist Jonathan Dennison, who has done time in a host of notable bands, including The Promise, The Path Of Resistance, Santa Sangre, and Another Victim. The band will enter Moresound Studios with Jason Randall (Ed Gein) this week to begin recording their full-length debut, titled "Blood of the Medusa." Freya, consisting largely of ex-Earth Crisis members, has issued an update:
It's been a busy time for Freya. Dennis Merrick, formerly of EXC, has joined us and played his first show in Ogdensburg NY. The band sounds stronger than ever. We had a great response and are looking forward to playing there again next year. We had some awesome shows with If Hope Dies, Enough is Enough, Yesterday Tomorrow, and Number 2. Look for some show dates with freya and If Hope Dies this winter/spring.
Karl just got back froma tour with A Perfect Murder where he filled in on vocals. They toured throughout Quebec and Ontario with Tears From the Sky. Karl had a great time with APM and is thankful for all the kind words from the fans he met up there. While in Canada he met with Mercedes from Kittie. Her company, Poison Black, Now sponsors Freya as well as Motive Clothing Company and Eblood from Europe.
Straight edge legends Damnation will be recording in the next couple of months, and Karl will be doing some guest vocals with Mike DC. Earth Crisis toured the States with them back in the day and we had an awesome time together. Erick has recently recorded the former members of American Nightmare's new band as well as White Out and The Unholy.
This winter PETA2 will be having a benefit festival in Boston. So far the roster is Shadows Fall, First Blood, and Freya. The Struggle to Survive video we did with them has recently reached its 100,000 mark and is going into its second print this month.
We are finishing writing songs for the new album and will tour after "Lift the Curse" is released.
Canada's A Perfect Murder spent a good portion of February in New Jersey at Trax East studios recording their Victory Records debut with Eric Rachel. Recording has been completed and the album, entitled "Unbroken," will hit streets in July. The record will consist of fourteen new songs and features a guest vocal appearance from former Earth Crisis, current Freya frontman, Karl Buechner. According to the band, the album is "a lot more faster, a lot more brutal, [and has] a lot more "old metal" feeling."
The annual Syracuse New Year's Day Hardcore Show is happening this Thursday. Lots of awesome bands including Throwdown, Bane, Most Precious Blood, Walls Of Jericho, The Promise, Stabbed By Words, Freya, and more are all playing. Advance tickets are only on sale until Wednesday (12/31/03).
