Swedish grindcore specialists Gadget this week end a decade-long void between albums with the release of their relentless "The Great Destroyer" LP through Relapse Records on March 11th.
Days before the public can get their hands on the album, the entire thing comes ripping forth through an early stream. Listen in below.
This week, Relapse Records presents a full-on smear campaign for the ravenous new LP by Sweden's Gadget, which will see five caustic tracks fired into the populace in five days as "The Great Destroyer" nears release in less than two weeks.
This intensified bombing run begins this afternoon with a stream of "Choice Of A Lost Generation" - listen in below. "The Great Destroyer" will see release on CD, LP and digital formats through Relapse Records on March 11th, 2016. More...
Swedish grindcore act Gadget just dropped a new video from upcoming LP, "The Great Destroyer," which will end a decade-long gap since the group's prior album when the record is released via Relapse the first week of March.
The arresting visuals were made in compliance with the album-opening attack of "Enemies Of Reason." States Gadget's Rikard Olsson on the track:
"It's one of the very last songs that we wrote for the album, in December 2013 actually. I've had the idea with the drum pattern and the different parts for some time, but no riffs. So I just threw it together late one night when I realized that the recording session was closing in and that we were lacking the simple and short, fast songs. William (Blackmon) wrote the lyrics for it later on and I think it turned out quite good for an album opener."
Adds Blackmon, "The track is meant to be a march for the atheist revolution; a salute to the critical mind." More...
As Sweden's decimating grind faction Gadget makes a triumphant return with a first new album in ten years (the Relapse-bound "The Great Destroyer" coming next month) today you can hear new single "I Don't Need You - Dead And Gone." Check it out below.
Gadget's "The Great Destroyer" is a cohesive exercise in extremity that blends hints of doom, sludge and death metal with unadulterated, old-school grindcore. The result is an album that is as memorable and infectious as it is pummeling and explosive.

On behalf of Swedish grindcore stalwarts Gadget, Relapse Records is excited to announce that "The Great Destroyer," the band's first full-length in a decade, will see worldwide release this March 4th, 2016.

Though the band has largely flown under the radar in the general metal consciousness, Gavle, Sweden's Gadget has roots that trace back to 1997. A blistering high-speed assault of relentless grind, Gadget's new album "The Great Destroyer" is a cohesive exercise in extremity that blends hints of doom, sludge and death metal with unadulterated, old-school grindcore. Swedish grindcore powerhouse Gadget has entered the studio to record a third full-length LP and follow-up to 2006's "The Funeral March."
The band is currently holed up in drummer William Blackmon's The Overlook Studios self-recording and producing Gadget's first new material since a 2010 split with Phobia. Relapse Records comments:
"Guaranteed to be 100% true grindcore, the 18 songs were written sporadically since 2009, with the majority of new material manifesting in 2013. An autumn 2014 release via Relapse Records is expected. Pics and updates on the recording process can be found via the band's official site here."
Guitarist Rikard Olsson commented: "Since it was so long ago we did an album it still feels weird and kind of unreal! It's early to exactly say what the outcome will be like but it's still the same four guys in the band, so it will be Gadget for sure. Perhaps a slightly more 'old school' approach to the songwriting (comes with age I guess...), but we still have our death and doomy sludge parts thrown in the grinder!"
William added: "It's definitely more 'in your face' on this album - less death metal influenced, more old school grindcore. Plus the mandatory doom parts, as Rikard mentioned."
Gadget has announced two U.S. shows for next week. The Swedish grindcore group will be performing in Philadelphia, PA on Friday, May 15th with local acts Javelina and Total Fucking Destruction. The official 2009 Auditory Assault Festival website has been updated with the following information:
"Auditory Assault will take place at Club Europa located in Greenpoint Brooklyn, NY. 98 Meserole Ave
"Our original intention was to have the fest take place in Manhattan, but we discovered that most clubs don't like any outside promoters and are asking for way too much of a rental fee. To put it plainly, most clubs wanted so much that even if their venue was filled to capacity we wouldn't have enough money to pay the bands based on our desire to keep the ticket price reasonable. Europa is not an extremely big venue, so it's recommended that you get an advance ticket when they go on sale before the end of February
Here is a full list of bands confirmed for Auditory Assault:
Brutal Truth (New York)
Pigsty (Czech Republic)
Total Fucking Destruction(Pennsylvania)
