Download Grey Skies Fallen's Latest EP For Free
New York metal band Grey Skies Fallen has made their latest release, "Along Came Life" available as a free download on their website.
The 2010 EP now joins GSF's first 3 full length albums as free downloads, making them one of the few active bands offering their entire discography for free.
Grey Skies Fallen is also slated to enter the studio to record the new EP, "Introspective" this fall. The band is aiming for a late 2011 release. Bass guitar will once again be handled by Paul LaPlaca and Travis Smith will provide artwork for this digital-only release.
The new album is a return to the melodic death/doom sound of "Tomorrow's in Doubt." The end result will be a 20-minute opus, as well as two other songs which will make up "Introspective." GSF has stated in the past that they are now releasing EP's digitally once or twice a year instead of doing traditional full-length albums every couple of years.

Unearthing The Metal Underground: NY Metal
Each week in Unearthing the Metal Underground, we'll be putting a few quality underground bands in the spotlight in an attempt to get the word out about them. This week I am exploring various talented bands in the New York scene.
Sanitarius
First up is Staten Island thrash metal band Sanitarius. At first listen it may sound like a some Metallica/Testament clone, but Sanitarius takes influences from melodic death metal and progressive metal, this band surely isn’t a run of the mill band. The singer Robb Quartararo’s rasp is very similar to that of James Hetfield, but he’ll add in screams ala Slayer. Musically they explore more progressive arrangements and the drummer Dave Cordero adds in interesting fills. Both guitarists are extremely talented and are very tasteful. Check out their songs on MySpace and Reverb Nation pages.

"So it's about that time again. We're entering the studio Saturday to track drums. After that, we will take those files to our own studio and record the rest of the EP."
"Since we are doing 80% of this on our own, it's pretty much an experiment. We are confident, however, that this will turn out sounding good, so we're not worried."
"Besides, it's our first new recording since The Visionary single, so we are just psyched to get back to business."
"When the EP is done, we will post it for streaming on Myspace and various other music sites, and also for purchase at $.99 a track / $4 for the EP." More...

Grey Skies Fallen To Release Digital EPs
New York's Grey Skies Fallen have issued the following update regarding their "new direction" regarding the way they will be releasing future albums:
"For the last 12 years, we have followed the same path over and over again - we'd write a lot of stuff, record it, release it on our own, see the album be forgotten about almost instantly, sink into the dreaded realm of 'unproductive-ness,' fighting, breaking up, opening GSF organic health food chains, getting back together, argue some more, and then someone will say. 'Hey! We should do an album!' While the music always changes on each album, the process that comes before or after, does not." More...

Grey Skies Fallen Go On Hiatus
New York progressive death metallers, Grey Skies Fallen, have posted the following update on their myspace page regarding their decision to go on hiatus:
"Dear friends,"
"This is a trying time for the band. The four of us have pretty much agreed to put Grey Skies Fallen on the back burner. It's been an up and down eleven years; mostly down."
"People in bands know the sacrifice that goes into it..the effort, and the emotional strain. I think all of that has caught up to us. We need to step back and take a breather."
"We have tried very hard to make good music for you guys to enjoy; we've even resorted to giving it away for free online. The reaction from that has been great. I am thrilled that our music has gotten out to many people that otherwise would have never heard us. However, real life takes precedence. We can't continue to spend money on the band like we did when we were 20, and with no outside support, (record labels, distro's) it's hard to continue." More...
