Throwdown has debuted a new track today titled "Avow," taken from the upcoming new LP "Intolerance," due out January 21st, 2014.
"I’ve written a lot of lyrical content coming off as rehashed. I was meticulous if not a little obsessive about making all venture into similar territory," says frontman Dave Peters. "It's been two decades since I've been straight edge. 'Avow' is about how it was important to me."
The album's track listing is as follows:
1. Fight Or Die
2. Borrowed Time
4. Hardened By Consequence
5. Defend with Violence
6. Suffer, Conquer.
7. Cut Away
9. Without Weakness
10. Born and Buried Alone
11. Condemned to Live More...
Southern California's Throwdown is set to release "Intolerance" on January 21st, 2014. The new LP will be the band's first since "Deathless" was released back in 2009. Frontman Dave Peters weighs in on the announcement:
"Completing this record felt great in so many respects, most important of which was the opportunity to finally give longtime supporters of the band this music that I've had swirling around in my head over the past four years.
"The variety of people from different places and scenes, who have found the band through vastly different avenues over the past 15 or so years, will each get into it for their own unique reasons I think. And for those who think it’s junk, it’s only about 28 minutes they have to regret."
"Deathless" and "Vendetta" collaborator Zeuss (Hatebreed, Crowbar, Demon Hunter) returned to mix the new record. The new album was recorded at Hurley Recordings in Costa Mesa, California with producer Davey Warsop and mixed at Planet Z.

Southern California's Throwdown will be entering the studio next week to begin working on a new full-length record, with Zeuss mixing.
The new, currently untitled effort is the follow up to “Deathless,” which came out four years ago. Vocalist Dave Peters offers a statement on the current state of the band and the mindset behind making this next record:
"It's really exciting, if not a little nerve-wracking to be recording again. It has been almost 4 years since 'Deathless' came out, which is about twice as long as the time between albums before it. While that has probably been annoying for fans that have been waiting and expecting a new record, it has also been the best thing for the writing process for the new album.
"I'm really meticulous when writing and arranging even the simplest riffs and songs, so I like to take my time. It has been strange and nice having the freedom to come back to a song or part several weeks later with a different perspective after hitting a wall with it.
"We're taking a very minimalist approach with these songs, more like Vendetta and (the first half of) Haymaker. I avoid putting the cart before the horse, but I see the songs on the record coming out stripped down and yet still refined. A two-minute song can arrive at the same place as one that fucks around for six, and while it’s more challenging to get there in less time, it is a lot cooler when you do. I’ve been going back to that when I find myself maybe adding parts or lines that are at risk of being superfluous.
"I’m very proud of 'Deathless' and all the work that went into it, but it wasn't a record that Throwdown fans expected. It was really polarizing on account of that. I’m simply not looking to continue down that stylistic road with these songs. This is going to be a hard record. I look forward to making it as much for myself as for longtime fans of the band."
Throwdown has revealed a slew of new details surrounding the band's upcoming "Brawloween" tour happening later this month. The band has announced the following touring lineup which is comprised of both familiar faces as well as some guests:
DAVE PETERS (vocals) (Throwdown 2000 - present)
MARK MITCHELL (bass) (Throwdown 2007 - present)
DAVE NASSIE (guitar) (Bleeding Through / ex-No Use For A Name)
TIM "YOGI" WATTS (drums) (Demon Hunter, ex-The Showdown)
Front man Dave Peters comments, "I can't say I love having a chronically fragmented lineup for Throwdown, but it does leave the door open for cool opportunities like this. I'm VERY happy to be playing these shows with Yogi and Nassie as 'special guests' or whatever you want to call them under the circumstances. They're great guys and equally great musicians. It will be a cool thing for fans of the three bands too, as it's hard to say if or when we'd share a stage in the future. The only drawback is running the risk of them setting the sound bar too high for the next time we play in our backyard."
Throwdown will headline the first annual "Brawloween," a brand new tour event which will stretch across the West Coast with support from Carnifex, First Blood, and Suffokate. Details are as follows:
10/21 - San Diego, CA @ Soma
10/22 - Bakersfield, CA @ Jerrys Pizza

British thrashers EVILE recently recorded a PANTERA track for the upcoming Dimebag Darrell tribute album, which will be released on the cover of the 200th issue of the UK's Metal Hammer magazine.
The special CD and magazine are being released to coincide with the five-year anniversary of Dimebag's passing, and will be available in shops on December 16th.
Alongside various other well-known bands such as MACHINE HEAD, EVILE were asked to record a song as a tribute to the late guitarist. EVILE recorded a cover of the track "Cemetary Gates," and this tragically turned out to be the band's last recording before the untimely death of their own bassist, Mike Alexander, who passed away on October 5th while on tour in Sweden.
A behind-the-scenes video - the last video filmed with Mike - of EVILE recording the track at Parlour Studios with producer Russ Russell can be viewed below.
EVILE lead guitarist Ol Drake comments:
"The day we got the call from our manager, Julie Weir, saying Metal Hammer have asked us to pay tribute to Dimebag Darrell by covering a Pantera song, we couldn't have been more excited and honoured. I mean, how many more bands are there more worthy of paying tribute to the man? With us all being fans of Pantera, we swiftly said yes. Mike though was the biggest Pantera fan. He'd seen them years ago and absolutely worshipped Dimebag.
"After Dime got killed, Mike couldn't listen to 'Cemetary Gates' anymore. He'd always ask us to skip the track in the car/van/bus because it was too much for him. So when we chose to do the track it was tough for Mike, but I'm glad he did it. It turned out to be the last song he recorded, which to me is a strangely 'appropriate' tribute to him and Dimebag. I remember him nearing the verge of tears whilst I was doing the tremolo bends at the end of the track.
"We hope Pantera/Dimebag fans find this a fitting tribute from us, as we're simply fans ourselves who've been given this rare honour."
Metal Hammer editor Alexander Milas comments:
"I was genuinely over the moon when Evile volunteered to produce a track for our upcoming Dimebag tribute, a stunningly rendered cover of Pantera's classic 'Cemetary Gates'. So when the truly tragic news of Mike Alexander's all-too-premature departure from this world hit the office, the tragic irony wasn't lost on me or anyone here that Mike Alexander's tribute to the immortal legacy of Dimebag would also be a final testament to his own impeccable musicianship and commitment to the music we love.
"To understate the case slightly, it's a very special track indeed, and we're honoured that it's a part of our upcoming tribute collection. Rest in peace Dimebag, and rest in peace Mike Alexander."
The Dimebag Darrell tribute album contains the following tracks:
01. ZAKK WYLDE - "Suicide Note Pt. 1"
02. MACHINE HEAD - "Fucking Hostile"
03. MALEFICE - "I'm Broken"
04. AVENGED SEVENFOLD - "Walk"
05. EVILE - "Cemetery Gates"
06. FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH - "A New Level"
07. BIOHAZARD - "Mouth For War"
08. SYLOSIS - "Strength Beyond Strength"
09. CHIMAIRA - "Slaughtered"
10. UNEARTH - "Sandblasted Skin"
11. THROWDOWN - "Becoming"
12. KIUAS - "This Love"
13. THIS IS HELL - "Rise"

The Atlanta based quintet DÅÅTH recently unleashed a straight shot of pure, unfiltered American metal upon the masses with their new full-length album, The Concealers, which is garnering numerous rave reviews (see below). The group just completed a very successful month-long North American trek alongside Dragonforce and continues their touring onslaught throughout the summer touring the U.S. with Goatwhore, Abigail Williams, SWWAATS and Abysmal Dawn. Be sure to visit the bands official Myspace Page to view their complete touring itinerary.
DÅÅTH shot a video for the scathing new track, “Day Of Endless Light,” with director Robin Fuller (Ghost of a Thousand, Shaped By Fate) last month and click on the link below to for a sneak peak into the madness that awaits.
Eyal Levi (guitars) further comments: “DÅÅTH is definitely back. We just wrapped up our North American tour with Dragonfoce and Cynic. Now that the dust has settled we have, with proof and via memories, come to the conclusion that this was our best tour ever. On all fronts: crowd reaction, merch sales and new friendships. And any memories we’re too blacked out to remember were caught on film anyways! We have tons of amazing footage from this tour that we’ll be sharing with you guys for a while. Both bands are incredibly easy to tour with because they are composed of such great individuals. Like Kevin Talley was perplexed about, ‘Man, there are no douchebags on this tour! Usually there’s at least one.’ I couldn’t ask for a better tour to come back on after our seemingly centuries long break.
“Coming up in the world of DÅÅTH are quite a few badass and exciting things. First we have a video we’re about to release for ‘Day Of Endless Light.’ I’ve said in the past that I didn’t want us to create just another metal video with five dudes jamming in an abandoned building or warehouse. We wanted a video that was more of a visual work that just carried a dark and slick vibe and could be considered an animated work of art. Well, so far I personally have only seen 10 seconds of it and holy shit! It is definitely on the way to achieving the goal. Director Robin Fuller and art director Jorden Haley are the kind of people I need to always be working with.
“Also, there are some exciting tours in the works. In June and July we’ll be doing the ‘Conquer and Curse’ tour which features our brothers from Goathwore. I can’t say enough how much I admire and love this band. Headlining will be Abigail Williams and the first two bands will be Abysmal Dawn and Success Will Write Apocalypse Across The Sky. This tour is going to be a 180 from the Dragonforce tour and I’m excited for the different experience. We also just confirmed that we’re touring Europe with Chimaira, Unearth, and Throwdown this fall! I don’t need to explain why this is such an amazing tour but let me tell you, we are fucking STOKED to be a part of it! This also will be our second time through Europe with Unearth and can’t wait to share the road with those model human beings.”
The Concealers was produced and mixed by Jason Suecof and Mark Lewis (Trivium, All That Remains, Devildriver) and features unparalleled musicianship along with the extraordinary vocals of Sean Z.

Cleveland groove metallers CHIMAIRA have just announced a European tour alongside their old friends from Boston, UNEARTH, as well as California's straight-edge outfit THROWDOWN. After a highly successful US tour supporting the likes of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and DISTURBED, CHIMAIRA is finally going to hit Europe and spread the infection.
Commented CHIMAIRA singer Mark Hunter: “We’re very excited to get back to Europe and headline. We’ll be playing a bunch of new countries we’ve never been to, including Russia. We plan to play a great mixture of old and new songs, and we’re bringing some of the best bands our genre has to offer with us.“
CHIMAIRA recently released their new album, "The Infection," which entered the German album chart on #86 and landed at #28 on the UK's official Indie charts. The album was their second on Nuclear Blast after 2007's critically-acclaimed "Resurrection," and the tour marks their first European visit since a hugely successful headlining run back in March 2008.

Throwdown has issued the following update about the recording of their new album:
"Tracking for "Deathless"... begins this Wednesday! We're pretty stoked to say the least. We hope you're ready for these songs. Barring anything catastrophic occurring like my left hand catching on fire or the Skittles factory ceasing production and thus killing Mark, you should be able to find the new album sometime toward the end of the Summer/beginning of Fall. But first thing's first, let's record the shit and melt faces."
New York hardcore legends Madball has announced that former Throwdown drummer Ben Dussault will be their new man behind the kit, following the departure of drummer Mackie Jayson, who previously worked with Cro-Mags and Bad Brains. The band are expected to be releasing a brand new studio album later this year through Ferret Records.
California act Throwdown has signed a record deal with Koch Records and is set to record a new album titled "Deathless." Koch issued the following statement about the deal:
THROWDOWN and KOCH Records have joined forces.
The band will begin recording Deathless, their first album under this new deal, in early 2009.
"Signing with KOCH Records is a breath of fresh air for us," said Throwdown frontman Dave Peters. "KOCH looks at their artists in a progressive way and can see that what we've given a decade of our lives to build is still far from completion. It's no mystery that the music industry is caught in quite the shit-storm right now. We're confident in the mutual autonomy of KOCH and Throwdown to come together and not only weather the storm, but thrive in it."
"I am thrilled to add Throwdown to the growing KOCH Metal roster and am looking forward to putting out what is surely one of the most anticipated releases of 2009," says KOCH Records VP of Metal Scott Givens. "The band is poised to claim a major stake in the American metal scene and we are thrilled that they have chosen KOCH to be their partners." More...
