Corrosion Of Conformity Reveals New Album Details

Reunited crossover thrash band Corrosion Of Conformity has announced that their new, self-titled studio album, their first for seven years, will be released on February 28th in North America through Candlelight Records. The album will feature eleven new tracks and was recorded at 606 Studios, owned by Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, who collaborated with Corrosion Of Conformity frontman Mike Dean on his 2003 project, Probot. The album will be released in CD as well as part of a CD/vinyl set, which Dean explained by stating:

"We like the idea of pressing this music on vinyl because so much of our inspiration comes from music that precedes the digital era. It’s also cool to have that large format for the artwork and the lyrics and the credits. It’s such a tangible physical product you can hold in your hands. In Europe, the vinyl will include a CD so you can get the files into your digital realm. In the US, a download card is included"

Maryland Death Fest Day Two

On Day Two, the scene had changed. The street in front of the club had been shut down and made into the fest grounds. One stage was at each end of the street, just over the length of the building. I won’t say that the festival had a lot of space; we were kind of worried about bands overlapping and drowning out each other’s sound. But the rigs for each stage were so loud that that would prove impossible. Vendors also lined up between the two stages selling boxes of vinyl, CDs, and even some cassettes. There were t-shirts galore with hideous pictures and illegible logos. I was really amused by the black metal face-painting stand where you could choose from KISS, Immortal, King Diamond, and your other favorite corpse-painted rockers. Inside Sonar was a new merch room that was so constantly crowded and oddly arranged, it kind of looked like a beggar’s village with really cool wares for sale. With so much drink, food, merchandise from every band in existence, and amazing live shows all day long, you couldn’t ask for more. More...

"The 3 of us (Mike, Reed and Woodroe) have been writing new music non-stop here lately. We have 12 songs or so ready to record when we head out to the studio in Los Angeles in the middle of March.

"I'd say the tunes cover a wide spectrum of the C.O.C sound from very Fast to Doom. Our long time producer John Custer (Blind, Deliverance, Wiseblood, AVD, Arms of God) will be working with us again on the new record and Mike Dean has threatened to join in on some of the production work as well.

"Also a lot of touring in the very near future. In addition to the already announced European dates in April we have scheduled a handful of U.S. dates and another European tour in June and July that will be confirmed shortly. Looking forward to all."
