Fatal Stabbing At Corrosion of Conformity Concert
It is being reported that at last night's CORROSION OF CONFORMITY show at The Masquerade in Tampa, FL four people were stabbed with one being fatally wounded. The band has released the following statement on their web site:
"We are stunned deeply saddened by the brutal stabbings of three people at the Tampa show last night. We don't have much information at this time. Unofficially we have heard that one victim didn't make it. In twenty plus years of gigging we've never seen anything like this. It's sad that people can't come together for a good time listening to music without something tragic happening. We feel for the families of those attacked and wish success to Tampa law enforcement in their quest to solve this pointless crime. Take care of each other and go in peace.
Anyone who has any information or saw anything should contact the Tampa Police at 813-276-3200."

Corrosion Of Conformity Drive Record Company Crazy
Chart Attack reports that Corrosion of Conformity drove their record company crazy with their latest album, "In The Arms Of God." Several excerpts from the article:
"We drove the record company crazy with [it]," [guitarist/singer Pepper Keenan] admits. "It just didn't sound the way we wanted it to. We mastered the record three different times with three different people to get it right. The first guy compressed it to sound like a heavy metal album. We wanted it to feel like a jazz record. It needed those ups and downs. Once we heard it, we were like, 'No way. We're doing it again.'"
"We'd made a record that sounded so different compared to other bands. A lot of people forgot how to make classic-sounding records. Everything has to be on 10, raise it to the ceiling, that's not what we wanted. It's hard when there's this big dude who's done a million records and you're telling him that he's not got it right. He understood what we were trying to achieve though, 'cause we spent a lot of time trying to get the finer points in there."
"Hey, it worked and people get it," Keenan says with a confident smile. "Every time someone says to me, 'The drums sound like cannons!' I'm like, 'No shit, motherfucker, we didn't compress the drums!' We knew we were onto something."

We are home safe and sound, trying to stop the ringing in our ears and most importantly giving our livers a rest. The Motorhead tour was everything we expected and more. We wanna thank Motorhead, C.O.C, Zeke and all their crews for making it memorable and at times real fucking fuzzy. We also thank all the old diehard sinners for showing their faces again and for not forgetting us and we welcome all the new converts and look forward to seeing you all again real soon. A big thanks also goes out to our brothers in Life Of Agony for hooking us up with a few shows on our way home, and of course we must give a shout out to our fans in Flint and Detroit.
We have a string of dates coming up on the East Coast from April 19th to the 24th and then join back up with the Motorhead tour on May 4th and 5th. CoC's "In The Arms Of God" Listening Party
Real.com is hosting an online listening party for Corrosion Of Conformity's new album 'In The Arms Of God', released Tuesday (April 5). You can listen to the album in full here.
COC Guitarist On Making Of New Album
Woody Weatherman, guitarist for Corrosion of Conformity, recently spoke with Quad-City Times Newspaper about the making of their album "In the Arms of God." Here are several excerpts from the article:
Corrosion of Conformity guitarist Woody Weatherman describes the making of his band’s stunningly pointed new album, “In the Arms of God,” the same way a 7-year-old might talk about a baby tooth.
“It just fell out,” he said from a tour stop in Connecticut.
The effortlessness that he and the rest of the decade-old North Carolina four-piece encountered when they convened to record their first album in five years was unexpected. All of the time away from the recording studio, coupled with a drastically changed world from the one they were living in when they made the last record gave lead singer Pepper Keenan more fire to play with.
“With Keenan, he’s coming from a different time and place. The world’s a different place. Everything’s a little scarier and I think a lot of these songs reflect that,” Weatherman said.
“That’s the true Corrosion of Conformity fashion,” Weatherman said. “We take giant leaps. If (our fans) weren’t expecting a surprise, they should have.”
Many of the songs initially came to be as ideas hatched at Weatherman’s farmstead. They were then recorded uninhibitedly at the crumbling practice space — the “dingy hole-in-the-wall with mold growing on the wall” — that Corrosion’s had since the 1980s.
“I’ve got a place out there that’s half a farm. I don’t have any llamas or anything. It’s a little ways out. For me, it’s in the country. It inspires everyone once in a while,” Weatherman said. “We recorded the entire record at our practice space. It was the first time we’ve ever done that. When people record demos and then record their album in a studio, a lot of times people will say, ‘I kind of like the demo tape version better.’
“We just kind of did that. It’s raw and it’s real. We used all the same equipment we use live. Those amps that we play with every night are the same amps that are on the record.“

Besides working on four of the band's previous albums, Custer also produced C.O.C. bassist Mike Dean's track on Dave Grohl's Probot project and C.O.C.'s contribution to "Nativity In Black", the Black Sabbath tribute compilation. Playing drums was New Orleans' Stanton Moore, skinsman for the renowned jazz-funk combo Galactic.
