Nocturnal Rites Issues Band Update

Nocturnal Rites has checked in with the following update about working on new material:

"Hi everyone! We thought it was time for a fresh start. As you can see we are working on a brand new website which will be online very soon, we hope! And it will contain lots of new stuff and information for you. We are currently writing songs for the new album and rehearsing for the gig at the Sabaton Cruise in Stockholm, 2nd of December 2010. The song-writing is going well we have lots of new material for our 9th studio album. We have some really dark and aggressive stuff written as well as some more melodic, so this new album will definitely cater to all aspects of the Nocturnal Rites legacy!

"We also played some live shows with our new guitarist Chris Rörland. This guy really did a great job, entering the stage for the first time as a new member of the band and he kicked ass from the beginning to the end! Not showing any fear at all, he just went for it, crazy but still being 100% professional. Even after a few shows it feels like he's been in the band for ages. So we are extremely happy.

"And we would also like to thank everyone who came to see us on our gigs since we started playing again. A big thanks to you all! More news to follow! Keep your eyes and ears open for upcoming songs, live shows, recording session & release."

Nocturnal Rites Parts Ways with Lead Guitarist

Nils Norberg of swedish power metal band, Nocturnal Rites, has issued the following update regarding his departure from the band:

"I just wanna write and explain some stuff for you out there. I have decided to lay down the guitar as my interest for music kind of cooled down the last years. So I’m not a part of Nocturnal Rites any more. It's just becuase of myself. I decided to do this and it has absolutly not been a bad feeling in the band in any way. I don’t know how or if I will go on with music, but I will take a break from the guitar that has been taking up all my waken time the last 20 years. The band will always be a 2nd family for me and I'm not closing the door to play with them again if it would be an a opportunity and I would have the urge to play again." More...

Guillotine Begin Recording New Album

GUILLOTINE, the reunited Swedish thrash metal band featuring Nils Eriksson (bass) and Fredrik Mannberg (rhythm guitar) of NOCTURNAL RITES, has issued the following update:

"A few days ago we started laying down the first few songs of drums and guitar for the [new GUILLOTINE album]. It feels amazing to have started this thing now after a few intense months of songwriting...and more importantly — after 10 years of absence from the scene! More info on label, title, expected release date and so on will be announced shortly."

GUILLOTINE recently posted two newly recorded demo tracks — "War" and "Blood Money" — on its MySpace page.

The band's debut album, "Under the Guillotine", was released in 1997.

In a 1998 interview with Chronicles of Chaos, Eriksson stated about GUILLOTINE, "GUILLOTINE plays music that is much more back to basics and rawer than NOCTURNAL RITES. It is so different. I feel that both bands are so far apart from what style and sound they deliver. It really isn't a task to be a part of both outfits. Making music is what I do and being in both bands keeps me busy. And when I'm busy, I'm one happy musician."
