In This Moment Blogs About Warped Tour

Chris from In This Moment blogged about their experience on the Warped Tour.

"As I write this update we are 11 days away from the end of Warped Tour 2009 - I am in a hotel room in Boise, ID on one of our last days off for the tour. We went into Warped Tour thinking we knew what to expect (we've done 2 Ozzfest's and numerous other festivals) but we quickly realized that Warped Tour is a completely different animal.

"It’s a huge mix of people from all walks of life. Most of them are kids under 18, it has been an amazing opportunity for us to reach a brand new audience that have never heard of us before (Thanks Kevin Lyman). We started the tour thinking its an alternative music fest and we have lots of new songs that aren't just metal that would probably appeal to the "Warped Tour audience" and yet again we came to realize we had no idea what the "Warped Tour audience" was."

"One of the best things we came up with was to go out into the crowd on the last song and try and get a circle pit going around us, and even better than that....an all girl circle pit...turns out Warped Tour is the perfect place to get a huge all girl circle pit going.....and I gotta say its a pretty cool feeling to stand in the middle of a bunch of girls who are circle pitting around you..." In This Moment Guitarist Checks In From Japan

In This Moment are currently on tour in Japan. Guitarist Chris Howorth has checked in with the following tour update: "Hello Believers!

"I am writing from my hotel room in Osaka, Japan. This is our third day here and its been an exciting trip so far, we flew in two days ago and it was a hellish flight, after 10+ hours in a tiny seat with no air vents and some really nasty smelling food we arrived in Tokyo only to be stuck on the plane for an additional 45 minutes due to swine flu quarantine procedures. It was so bizzare; we likened it to the scene in E.T. when the govenment tents off the house and storm in with all the hazmat gear on, or the scene in Alien 3 when they show up to take Ripley off the planet, we are talking hazmat suits, face masks, goggles, gloves taped on, the works. They filmed us with an infra-red camera and questioned everyone (God help the poor bastard who flies to Japan with a stuffy nose or something). More...

In This Moment Issues Tour Road Report

In This Moment has issued the following update about their tour alongside Papa Roach and Filter:

"Hello Believers!

"I am writing this from our dressing room in Berlin after an amazing show along side Papa Roach and Filter, This tour has been so great for us, all the shows are sold out and all the fans are going nuts every night, ITM was welcomed with open arms by the entire Papa roach band and crew, and sharing the bus with Filter has been an absolute pleasure they are great people. Unfortunatly for Filter their guitarist Mitch had a personal issue at home and had to leave the tour immediatly, so Jesse, Blake and myself stepped up to the plate and took over guitar duties for the remainder of the tour, and let me tell you its a big deal for us, we have been listening to Filter since back in the day and getting onstage and playing with them is a fucking thrill!

"We basically split the set into 2 songs each Jesse does the first 2 songs Blake the second 2 and I close the show with Jurassitol and Hey Man Nice Shot, like I said before its a thrill, Filter has sold 6 million records and we get to play sold out European shows with them, its pretty damn cool. We are heading home in 6 days and its gonna be nice to get back to the USA for a couple of weeks then off to Japan and then Warped Tour, see you there!!!"

In This Moment Debuts At #70 On Billboard Top 200

IN THIS MOMENT’s highly acclaimed new album, "The Dream," debuted at #70 on the Billboard Top 200 chart this week, which also marks the group’s first Billboard entry. This is over a 150% increase in sales from their previous album, "Beautiful Tragedy," in a marketplace that is at best half of what it was at the time of their debut release.

The band kicked off a massive North American tour last week joining up with Five Finger Death Punch, Bury Your Dead and Another Black Day. The two month long trek features the band in the direct support slot so fans can expect a 45 minute set, which also serves as the launch of their worldwide touring campaign for their sophomore release.

Chris Howorth (guitars) further comments: "IN THIS MOMENT would like to give a huge thank you to all our friends and fans who went out and bought our new CD last week. Not only did we have more than 100% increase over our last disc's first week tally, but we debuted on the Billboard Top 200 chart right out of the gates. We couldn't be more proud. We have been blessed with the best fans. We are about a week into our tour with 5FDP and it’s off to a roaring start. The whole Five Finger camp welcomed us in with open arms and we are really happy to be out on tour with good friends. All the shows are packed and the fans are loving every band on the tour. It's a really diverse line up so there is something for everyone. Don't miss it."

Century Media Celebrates 20th Anniversary

2008 has become an extremely exciting year in the history of Century Media Records, one of the world's most respected independent homes for heavy music, as the label is celebrating its 20th anniversary!

The company's Anniversary year started off with an extremely successful, first-ever yard sale/party at the Century Media office in Dortmund (Germany) in June, where several hundred guests partied out on exclusive live shows by Angel Dust and Turisas. A video with impressions from the event can be seen at this location. A photo gallery for this event can be viewed here.

To further celebrate this anniversary Century Media Records will release the very special 2CD compilation "Covering 20 Years Of Extremes" on September 15th in Europe and on October 14th in North America. The various artists covers-release includes 32 mostly exclusive recordings and will be available in stores for the price of one CD. Sticking to the "keep it in the family" slogan, CM approached their artists about covering songs from other acts within the label's repertoire and the response from the musicians was overwhelming.

Some choices were obvious and homages to the bands that influenced them, others were inspired picks. This combination ended up leading to a heavily entertaining and truly special final result across all sub-genres of heavy music.

Here is the tracklisting: More...

Ozzfest 2008 Deemed A Success By Organizers

Billboard.com reports: Ozzfest 2008, with Metallica and Ozzy Osbourne as headliners, grossed nearly $3.5 million and drew close to 30,000 people to Dallas' Pizza Hut Park, according to producers Sharon Osbourne and AEG Live.

Sponsored by Affliction Clothing, this year's Ozzfest marked the return of the 13-year-old hard music brand after a free run at amphitheaters last year. This year's one-off event did "fantastically well," Sharon Osbourne told Billboard.com. "The one thing is you want for the kids to go away and keep talking about what a great show it was, and that's what they're doing."

In addition to Metallica and Osbourne, mainstage acts were Serj Tankian, Hellyeah, Johnathan Davis, Cavalera Conspiracy, Shadows Fall, Apocalyptica, and In This Moment. The second stage featured Sevendust, Devildriver, Kingdom of Sorrow, Soilent Green, Witchcraft and Goatwhore. On the third stage were the Sword, Drowning Pool, Rigor Mortis, Within Chaos, The Destro and "battle of the bands" winners Debris and Black Tooth.

Osbourne says plans are for Ozzfest to return to Dallas again next summer, likely as a two-day festival, and other cities are also being considered. "Ozzfest ain't going anywhere," she says. "We do try and shake things up and experiment. We're not the old donkey that plods on doing the same sh*t."
